how 2 frustrate a scammer when you see 1

Featured Replies

i have recently saw some noob scammers scamming whips and other expensive stuff like d legs and think i m not the only 1 noticing this

their methods:

2 players standing in a crowded place like w2 or w144 pest control. 1 player "buys" whip for 2.5m-4m, sounds good? however he actually trades a warrior/seers ring instead. his friend nearby "buy" the warrior/seers ring for more than the price the previous guy "buy" the whip for. as you can see these rings worth only about 500k and they are obviuosly scamming. i really dont know of they are just copycats or are just stupid as they always use warrior/seers rings to scam for whip, these items never change. next is the method to counter and frustrate them after reporting them and to prevent more people getting scammed before jagex does anything

how to counter them:

very simple just keep trading them, when they accept your trade, do nothing until they decline, then trade spam them again. they cant off their trade as they want to scam people and when they on their trade, u are spamming them. i tried that a few days ago and they guy got frustrated and logged out

yep its that simple and you can do a part for the runescape community. the downside of this is only some time(i estimate 15 min) from you. i m doin this just to wipe out these scammers(hopefully) so i am happy if any of you will try my method and contribute to wiping out this particular kind of scamming

try to scam him! but thats against the rules so keep trading him, put up the stuff accept first screen then decline second screen and keep doing it over, and over, and over :-w

Yes, I always wanted to do that. I'd be like "But you wanted 2.5M for it what are you doing?"

krisc5--i trade him and decline if he do noe accept i will keep trading and when he accept i decline, how's that

ganja_green--the guy buyin warrior/seers ring will never accept any trades, he just stand there and "buy" warrior ring for a few million to make people think that the ring cost that much, so as to help his fren

If you have 3 items and ur in the wild, if someone asks for you to kill them, say, only if you atk me first. That way, they get skulled, so you wouldnt lose stuff if it was a scam

Mizzou is ballin'!

Illini are fallin'!

Or another thing you could have done when lures where around is act extremely confused. Like you don't know where this "Bridge" is or how to trade and all that good stuff

now i remembered my lv31 fren playing with a scammer

the scammer says drop your mith plate and press alt+f4 and i will giv 1m

my fren unequipped his mith plate and logged out instead lol

I actually got scammed pretty bad playing with a scammer so I would suggest just leaving it alone.

I used to offer the "valuable" items they were trading for whips to the 2nd person. Like if they were buying a whip for a warrior ring, I'd go offer my warrior ring to the 2nd scammer - they'd both log off. Do this to a few of the scammer teams and they're all gone :)

The best and only way to frustrate a scammer is :

REPORT THEM

Its usually some item that its available but no one really buys. A warrior ring is usually the biggest, followed by karils coif or some crap that no one has. I have a warrior ring and encounted one of these scams the other day. I saw the one, buying warrior ring 3m! then immediately went east to see the other guy selling a warrior ring for 2m. Needless to say I reported them both.

Off topic: How come no one uses a warrior ring? I pk with mine ::'

or, try hitting the special red button on the lower right corner of your screen

With the Whip-video-that-gets-paid-with-4-items-that-protect-over-the-whip scam, you can bring low alch runes, alch one of the items, and protect the 3 other mystic bottoms/torag's hammers/dbaxes and the whip. :D

This signature is intentionally left blank.

I got scammed out of D legs a while back from this scam except it was for a palm leaf which was just recently released

In trying to frustrate a scammer, you'll only frustrate yourself. It's best you just ignore them and go about your business. Either that, or just report them.

Life is a joke. Yeah, I don't get it either.

Sit at the second trade window for as long as it takes them to decline, then say sorry lag. Rinse and repeat.

floorgazer.png

You know the scammer can just add you to the ignore list and not see your spam trades anymore

Live free or die. First option is exhausted, so guess what remains?

i want to jump into runescape and take an enormous knife with me. that'll put an end to the scammers.

The old trick of waiting on the second trade screen and apologising for lagging. Or if it's a lurer only take 1 item

I don't know if this was already posted, cause I didn't read all, but get them to follow you and lead them to his buddy

say something like "0mg, g00d d33l, sell him t3h r1ng!"

act all 1337 and nooby :P

Yayyyyyy...
