The equipment can still be used against monsters in wildy, but will become useless the instant you engage in PvP combat, so skatedog, your way won't work. I believe the coding would be complex. :P

 

 

 

They could make the weapon hit based on the opponent's hp, similar to ruby bolts. That way, it would hit weakly on a players with 70-99 hp, but once you started fighting monsters with 300+, you would get some big hits in.

Maybe they could make it PvM and PvP if they have the same armor.

 

So if you are wearing this armor you can only attack players with the same armor...and if you are pking with it and you get attacked my someone without the armor, your armor and wepons get lower bonuses. Maybe equil to dragon or a bit higher.

Do you really think it's that high? Personally I thought it wouldn't be more then 10%, if you're talking about each day. The reason you think it's so high, is probably because of the noise the pkers make. You hear them time and time again, they complain very loud, they have riots, etc. And that's because the majority of the pkers is also immature (I say the majority, not you or your small clan/friends).

 

Even if I'm incorrect, its higher then 10%. I'm not talking about a daily day, the entire RuneScape population is divided, and the two main groups are skillers, and pkers,(autoers don't count). They complain very loud? they complain because they have to, if jagex took out cook 'x', or takes out key points in skill training. How many skillers would go to fally and riot. I'm sure a lot.

 

 

 

Now we all know immature people (*cough* children *cough*) make a lot of noise in general and you also don't pay too much attention to them. I think that's exactly the way we should treat pkers, don't listen to the huge whining (usually before they even tried it) and only listen to the real arguments.

 

Ignore them because they are pkers or children, that just sounds like such a good way to handle something. The real argument, you will not know the real argument unless you look at the points from all views, which I'm sure you don't, because your sounding very narrow minded.

Maybe something along the gree-gree system? If a weapon is detected as being used against another player it is wrenched from the equipment menu.

 

 

 

I don't see how pkers could object, nothing is being taken away, rather the status quo maintained. We already have the Keris, the anti dragon fire shield and other monster specific equipment, surely a "monster only" weapon is merely an extension of that?

I agree I sounded very narrow minded and I admit that I've probably become that too towards whiners in general and it just happens I hear most of the whining from pkers, I'm sorry if that's incorrect, but it seems like that to me. The Pc riot -you referred too- was another proof to me, there was a riot before they even tried it! I don't hear anyone complaining about that any more.

 

Another reason why I generally dislike them, they are never satisfied! They complained for years range was underpowered and less then one week after the crossbow update they complained again! Now mage is underpowered (which isn't in my opinion by the way, it's just made underpowered by the players because distance maging has become just as bad as scamming). And still, so what it's underpowered? Just don't use it, that's what pures are doing for years now anyway. It's overpowered? why don't you use it then?

I don't think we should totally ignore them though, maybe I brought my point too strong. Of course we should listen to real arguments and of course they also have the right on updates and improvements. But in my eyes they sometimes just act like little kids (riots anyone?). As in someone will say 'cook x needs to be taken out, because its too easy to level it', someone else would say 'cook x is bad and needs to be taken out' they won't add in a reason, because their view, they've taken from someone else.

Yes, you hear that the pking community is bad, and is very immature, its not, and when those words are used its over doing it a lot. There's some, just a bit more immature people then on Tip.It here, and they act out a lot more in the pk community. Thats the only reason why the pking community has been labeled immature-over generalizing the commuity based on other peoples opinions.

People who keep saying that are over-complaining too Imo, just like people who complain about randoms. It isn't going to be changed, it's not the end of the world and it's very possible to still have a tremendous game despite it. It's not pkers in general. I admit I used to belong to that group of skillers whiners too. But I realized it's still a fun game, it doesn't have such a great impact and it's bound to become easier too! I've had my own experience. I've tried pking, I've watched fights outsides vids (where I learned they remove a lot of the swearing, ever wondered why so many people have chat on hide on their vids?). I've even been called a def noob numerous times on my 40 def F2P ranger! And this is just my own personal experience, I'm sure there are nice people, I'm sure there are more mature people. But there also are a lot who aren't.

I think the next set of armor and weapons will increase max damage potential of players, but to counter that i think new armors are going to have resistance added to them, like you take 10 percent less damage when you wear this new plate.

good point. Everyone knows that better weapons are coming, in favour of the harder monsters (I believe that addy / rune dragons are coming). Without them, nobody is able to kill higher lvl monsters solely and effectively

 

 

 

(I know that that Kaphite is impossible to sole, but that's the only exceptional case I know. Other monsters, even Jad, can be killed solely)

 

 

 

However, knowing that HP is only 99, it becomes clear that some changes on items have to be taken into effect. Somebody ranted about the possibility of hitting 49/49 special on others using a dark bow, with 99 ranged / 40 defence, with the aid of the Void Knight armor

 

 

 

That means that without changes, the pvp will be dead. The wilderness will be roaming with those 50/50 pkers. Other activities like rune rock mining or fire giant slaying will be severely disrupted.

 

 

 

Some items should be rendered less effective when used in pking / dueling. For example, for void knight armor, the game may set the effect is nullified when used in pvp, with message like "The justice of Void Knight prevents the armor from functioning because the killing of others is deemed to be a horrible crime"

 

 

 

p.s. the message does not mean that pvp is evil in nature. It just means Void Knight hates seeing people killing others.

Minority in the population is a generalization. I'd say a good half of the RuneScape population pks on a regular basis(2-3 times a day), or more. The pk community isn't small, nor insignificant. That overwhelming say isn't because of anything, but only of how large the pking community truly is.

I'd say, to be called a frequent player killer, you have to have killed at least 100 persons and according to this Jagex' pool only 14% of the whole population have killed 100 or more people. But I have the feeling I see a lot more then 14% of the ranting from them.

Or possibly, the armour is holy and blessed by the gods, when you are skulled or enter a fight to the death the gods frown on you, this would mean it would still offer great protection in the wilderness so long as you weren't pk'ing.

 

Not a good idea. There are alternative ways to get skulled, such as entering the abyss and since you are skulled for next 20 minutes, you will be forbidden from using these equipment.

I think the problem isn't the weapons... its the armor. They should make it so every 10 defence points against a stats not only reduce accuracy but also 1 point of themax hit, with a minimum of 40% (or somthing near that)of the max hit. This would make defence a good skil to train again (sorry pures but you had it coming to ya =p) and make jagex able to release armor and weapons wich are better (we all know monsters will raise in power so that isn't a problem).

 

 

 

edit: or maybe better, make half your defence level the % of max hit that can be hit on you (99 would be about 50% so would finaly give a reason to train defence, and release better stuf)
