unorclan
Everyone should read this before deciding to post anymore. Judging by the posts already made, it seems like everyone already has. What exactly is the point your making? Me, I still find it narcissistic of Americans to expect that we and everyone in the world should hold it as a day that will live in some kind of infamy, while half of this country's population can't name or locate a single country on the other side of the world, let alone mourn something that happened there. 3,000 people died. Whoop-i-dee-do-da. If your a family member of someone who died, fine, mourn, I'd be kinda scared if you didn't. Otherwise, there's not a person in existence with the time or caring reserves to mourn for every dead pile of carbon on the face of the earth, so don't expect everyone to care about every frikkin' thing. very well said. notice we dont have mass tsunami mournings? No we don't because those people were people half way across the world we barely related to. We remember 9/11 because it happened on our own home-soil that happen to other americans exactly like us and many many many know people who had friends/family die. Theres a differences...a massive difference. Thanks to the amazing talent of Jopie211 for the sig!Finest Fist of Guthix Strategy Guide
Tbfgraphx14
I never got how the I-35W Bridge collapse got almost as much as attention as 9/11 but there were only 20-30 fatalities? fatalities, right word? Anyways, for me, what happend was the past. So let's keep it there. Tbfgraphx14Happy to find I'm not the only one who eats glass.
Rebdragon
No we don't because those people were people half way across the world we barely related to. We remember 9/11 because it happened on our own home-soil that happen to other americans exactly like us and many many many know people who had friends/family die. Theres a differences...a massive difference. Are you related to anyone who died that day? Do you know anyone directly who died in those towers on September 11th? I'm not, and thus my argument follows from yours- we don't know the people who died directly, so why should we care about it to the point of venerating the day with special mourning? Why should we expect anyone outside our borders to care? Heck, why should we expect people within the borders not related to those who died in any way to care? Why? It's not like their deaths were any more honorable than anyone elses, thus I see no purpose in mourning specially for a group of 3,000 people whom I have 0 connections to. Do you believe otherwise, believe that we these people deserve extra mourning above the rest? Why? baron8000
No we don't because those people were people half way across the world we barely related to. I live in England, can I stop caring already? In my opinion minutes silences should only be given to truly massive, world changing events such as WWI, WWII and similar occasions - they should not be given to every minor attack (and yes it was a minor attack and death toll - whatever overinflated Americans may say). I am not saying that these attacks are not to be regretted or mourned but to attach a silence to them would diminish its impact for the truly deserving dates as detailed above. tehravenx
I do remember it really well. I was in science class outside. I think 9/11 should be a day off of school. Not to celebrate but to commemorate.

Wisp
I was like 8 or something at the time, I was at a hippy school (i'm not joking here, the teachers had us go to peace meetings where they told us once that the reason kids draw, for example, a 2 year old draws a cow blue is that toddlers can see things auras, and the cows aura is blue, or some bs like that.) anyways, they brought us all outside, and my mom had showed up, and she was like crying, and I'm like, omg someone died, and then i found out what happened. They explained it like this "and then a plane crashed into the building and some people were in the building". I really didn't comprehend it until a few days later, when i got a real explanation Hegemony-Spain

das1330
If you're implying killing me.. well, kinda contradicts a pro-lifer, as it seems like you're one, doesn't it? ha... I cant wait for this Sept. 11th, and OH!, coincidence a 'New' Osama recording.. OooOoo... Maybe he'll finally nuke us with those WMD's that Bush is still ape-[cabbage] about. Only on Tuesdays... -.- I told speed a prediction I made a while ago, along with some other people Bush rigs some scheme up, lets Osama do another terrorist attack, delays or withholds the 2008 election so he can stay in office and prance around in his penny-loafers and try to suck more money anything he can, and anyway he can. If so happens to come true, be it unlikely, hopefully America has the decency to impeach, or at least assassinate the idiot. I remember you mentioned you were fond of Weed in one particular post awhile back. Would you happen to be on it when you posted this? Anyway, on topic. I was in first grade, and because school didn't start until 9:00 AM, The attacks had already happened when I went to school. I remember the teacher acting really strange, and she wouldn't tell us anything about it, but I remember seeing it on the news.
Tbfgraphx14
Was in 2nd grade :-w Yea I know. I can't remember if it was a half-day or if we got released. :-k I didn't know anything during school, but then when I was walking home we had some older volunteer crossing gaurds, and they were game addicts. They were talking about this terrorist and something about a building. I didn't really pay attention to them because I thought they were going crazy or something about their games. I was really confused at home, my mom teaches and she was home too. I didn't care about it until I understood what actually happend. :-k Btw, tomorrow first hour is American History #-o Tbfgraphx14Happy to find I'm not the only one who eats glass. WhiteHorn
No, because some of us in Australia couldn't care less about something we have zero emotional investment in. But oddly, if Australia were to sink into the ocean, Americans would be the first people there helpin' you guys. Sweet deal! It's okay though, if Australia sunk into the ocean my first thought would probably be "Thank God. Maybe if none of them survive, we won't have to hear "G'Day, Mate!" or have anymore stupid crocodile hunters..." :P How can you demand him to sympathize Americans if you said that you'd not regret Australians at all if they drown? Does only America need compassion in dark days? Sadly, grief after the victims of 11/9 is hardly as felt as in USA... anywhere outside USA. Bubsa, this is not 'Nam, this is terrorism, there are rules. With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.
