"One country's love is another hate"

I completely agree that it probably can't happen, but it's always nice to optimistic.

A world full of love can happen, but people are resistant and will not allow it. Its the uniqueness of people that make it impossible.

In response to this thread:

Extremists in any religion are funny. They are here purely for the sake of lolz.

So your response to someone merely saying hate is a big problem and the root of many other problems is to attack religious people. Nice...

Not religious people, but religious extremists. There is a big difference between the two.

Religion creates hate. A well known fact.

What? People create hate by taking religion to an extreme. Some religions and/or parts of religions advocate it, but it's really up to humans to carry out and feel the hate.

I world without hate is impossible.

More or less, as humans we thrive on conflict and need it to continue to change, grow, and really survive. (Hegel anyone?) Hate is just one of those things that pushes humans to conflict. Ever read Brave New World by Aldous Huxley? Even when everyone is "happy" there are still a few who must be outcasts to continue the cycle of conflicts.

Okay, how many frikkin' times has that book been referenced this week? I'm at a dozen times, give or take one. Anyone got an exact number?

Recently at the Academy awards some actress (forgot name) said in her speech "many people come up here and thank jesus for this award. all i have to say is suck it Jesus this award is my god now!".

Now of course it sparked outrage amongst christians. but yet half the country said christians need to chill, it was just a joke.

Don Imus joked when he poked fun at a female sports team. But he was dubbed a racist and a sexist and lost his job.

When you make fun of blacks, its racist, you losr your job.

When you make fun of women or Jews, there's a public outcry for an apology.

When you make fun of Muslims, they'll have your head.

But when you make jokes about Christianity... half the country backs you up saying "christians need to chill out."

[hide=]

tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :(
But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities.
That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.

Apparently a lot of people say it. I own.

Turn the other cheek? Religion is not inherently part of who you are as a human being like race, sex or sexuality is, thus, jokes about it are usually 'water off a ducks back' to any level-headed person. I can somewhat sympathise with you so if you want to take offence, sure, go for it, just don't do what some Muslims do when they feel offended. They can get scary.

Eh, it wasn't really an attack, I was just trying to put emphasis on the fact that I've seen that book referenced a ton this week, for some odd reason. Me, I read it last year, thought it was weird as hell.

I'm getting kind of off-topic here, but read it again and think more about human nature and the like. It makes a lot more sense and has a lot of good insights.

I'll have to agree with Deathlord on this one. It's extremism (which in my opinion roots from close-mindedness, be it religious, political, patriotic, anarchist, atheist, or whatever) which creates hate, and thus violence. On the other hand, most religions normally enforce moral values (take the ten Commandments, for example), and a lot of charity foundations are faith-based. Religion does bring a lot of good things, it's the extreme thoughts which rise problems.

And you never referenced "An Elegant Universe", eh? Just because you don't like this book it doesn't mean you have the right to and he doesn't... :P [/hide]

Oh, no, I get the meaning of the book. It was a school book, so we went over it in class to understand it, but it's not like the meanings aren't hard to find anyways.

Still a frikkin' weird book.

I think that, despite what he may have said in the past, the topic's starter is on the right track about this. As far as I know, the ONLY religion that advocates hate and violence is Satanism (If you don't know what that is, I will slap you with a trout. :wall: ). Sadly, everything has extremists. For some examples:

John C. Lester; Founding Father of the KKK, "Christian" (My belief is anyone who supports things like this is one of the worst kind of people, and someone who says they're Christian as well is the worst kind of hypocrite.)

Adolf Hitler; Atheist (if you need any further description, I will tie you to a tree stump and force you to listen to Disco for 3 days. <.< )

Osama bin Laden; Islamic (look above, and increase time index to 1 year & forced to eat spinach)

I think my point has been made.

Most or almost all faiths have texts that can be taken different ways to advocate peace, hate, or anything else really. It all depends on the perception of the person reading such texts and living as they dictate. So to reiterate what has been said quite a few times already, "People make the hate." Love, not war. <3:

Yes I agree that hate is what creates death, and not religion.

But religion feeds the hate with false beliefs and whatnot.

Oh and to whoever said this:

Adolf Hitler; Atheist (if you need any further description, I will tie you to a tree stump and force you to listen to Disco for 3 days. <.< )

If someone makes a joke you consider inappropriate. Don't tell the joke yourself, and don't laugh at it. Anything else is going to far.
