Anyways that rate hasn't changed in the longest time. I have noticed this for awhile now and the only reason most noticed was because it breifly went to $ for $ I think it needs to change, but yah you can just mail U.S dollars you can get from the bank. (nice idea)

Your not seeing his point here. He never said it was expensive, he was saying that since our Canadian dollar is up to par to the American dollar we should be paying (roughly) the same amount. But we aren't, and as our dollar increased we still are paying the same amount. Even though Jagex isn't an American based company, we shouldn't be paying the same amount today, as we did years back.

 

 

 

And you must've had members for a long, long time. I use to pay back with a credit card when I played (and I've been around long enough), and it was $7.30 a month. Paying by phone or mail is even more pricey, so how you got it any cheaper, is beyond me. You may want to enlighten us there.

I don't know either (been members for maybe 2 months); I used paybycash. Maybe they have a leet conversion system? I paid 68 for an annual, thought it would be the same all around.

 

 

 

 

 

And about the whole national pricing thing; the same thing happens across the board, it has nothing to do with Jagex. A recent study conducted by Canada's federal trades committee showed that on average, Canadian products are priced 20 percent higher than identical American counterparts. 1) Canadian's dollar's rise has been relatively rapid, and most retailers (including online ones) usually update their stock prices only once or twice a year. Thus, drastic changes can't be expected immediately. This also gives them room in case the dollar fluctuates, which brings me to the next point:

 

 

 

2) Parity means nothing. The Canadian dollar hasn't risen so much as the American dollar has fallen. Not to mention Canadians are also enjoying the recent windfall of a resource boom. This makes the Canadian dollar's strength extremely flimsy; as soon as America falls out of its housing slump (most likely with new lines of research in stem cells), Canada's dollar will falter. Its resource boom is also extremely temporary, with Alberta's oil sands drying up in possibly less than 10 years.

 

 

 

 

 

The strength of the Canadian dollar is more or less an illusion and in most global markets is still a ways below parity. It wouldn't be surprising if the dollar fell back down to 0.80 USD within a few short years.

Canada has higher taxes, and that cost is passed on. Also, Americans have to pay for health care so they have less money.

I don't see the moan. I pay ÃÆââ¬Å¡Ãâã4.50 for my membership by phone, which equates to $9.00 . It's just the way that the system works in different countries, it probably costs more to do the admin for membership in Canada then it does in the US or similar. Besides, if you want expensive games, go and play WoW :roll:

This price problem is global. Books, junk food, clothes, everything. I'll take McDonalds as example. I had a weak moment yesterday, and I went to inject myself some fat there. Prices still the same, for 2.50$ CAD you get a hamburder you get for 1.50$ USD on the other side of the border. Experts say, the prices are remaining the same because apparently it's a safety net, in case the dollar drops. In a way; it's true they can't change the prices every time the dollar fluctuates. So they are waiting for it to stabilize. But, meanwhile, they are reaping some extra cash. Two in one, isn't it lovely?
