Lenin64
For those of us that read the news on the front page, we saw what came out today: Quest helps. These help you out on quests you haven;t finished yet, much like a quest guide. You can only use 4 per day, though, and can;t look at other quests, like you can on help sites, but what are these Quest helps an attempt by jagex to deter people from help sites, like Tipit or HQ? Sure, help sites have more than just quest guides, but those are a major parts. Do you think Jagex wants people to stay away from help sites? Is it reasonable for them to do so? Discuss. Master_Smither
Ya thats why they created the knowledge base. It's not reasonable I'm a tipiter because it's forums mainly. I use the calc sometimes because they are uber 1337. Maybe it's because 8 year olds get key loggers from fake help sites and they want to diminish that. But not everyone knows or uses the knowdledge base anyway. FastForce
Most kids don't know about tip.it or any other fansites really. search runescape on google and most of the stuff on the front page are cheating sites. how are they gonna find fansites? Rcty
I don't think their purpose is to try to get people away from helpsites, but to offer a little more to those who don't know about them. ~Rcty Rcty
B_Ryan20
i agree i believe that there trying to get rid of the scam site and steer ppl away from quest guides because they take away the fun of the quest :?
Low C
I think its reasonable for them to give quest guides. Some people wont always find tip.it and will stumble into a keylogged site.
haggisoflife
If they wanted to destroy quest help sites they wouldn't have put the maximum number of hints a day in. plus as fastforce said not everyone knows about sites like tip.it, nor may want to visit them. imo its just jagex adding something new and useful to their website. no harm and no foul.

Aneron
Meh, it's just a filler update imo :P I've never heard of anyone actually using it. Although I suppose with it growing to include a decent number of quests, that may change :-k
Stephleref
So Jagex can't add content to their website because fansite has those guide? I don't really see the problem here, they did not do it so people stop using fansite they did it to help player and nothing else.
Dalcyte
Not from runehq and tip it, but from phony sites, that give false information. They'd rather people stick to a guaranteed safe site, rather than go to a third party site, that has potential for being bad. I don't blame em, and i saw this right away with the addition of the kbase Click for mah Blog!- I'm not sure why you would though because i never update it Achieved 99 Thieving 3/10/07-992nd to it
hatebringer
I used it maybe once to try it out when they first released it, but haven't used it since. I prefer to quest w/o guides, but use one from tip.it if i really need to. 99 Fletching 99 Attack 99 Constitution 99 Cooking 99 StrengthGamertag: H8tebringer
nine naked men
They're probably doing it to try and steer new players away from googling "runescape quest guides" and ending up on a site that may be keylogged. sleep like dead men wake up like dead men
EugenyG
While the reasons you give may have merit, the QH has substantial advantages over helpsites: it's dynamic and discrete nature. It's useful for people who are stuck on a quest and want a help with a specific point without spoiling the whole quest by reading a walkthrough. Live free or die. First option is exhausted, so guess what remains?
flying_death_bombs55
The quest help has been around since late last year, they were just slowly adding more and more until all quests were in it.(I still prefer fansite guides they are more helpful) When you mentioned the Dragon Plates I had a sudden vision of a load of gangsters running around in fancy dress yealling "Grim Reaper in da hood!" krisc6
i might start using this when questing.it is pretty dynamic teling you what you have left to do and how many quests/quest points are left. its prettygood but i think they made it for those who dont use fansites and only use the runescape apps
The Observer
Fansite guides are better.. All quest helps do is give vague hints and clues to what they are supposed to do next. Good if you don't want to use a quest guide I suppose.. ~Killerred005
Umega
You can only use 4 per day, though, and can;t look at other quests, like you can on help sites That just sounds really pointless to use, obviously fansites are the better choice and don't have those limitations. No longer playing Runescape, I caught the WoW bug.
Marvel Titan
why is everything jagex does outside of the game something to destroy fansites or something. Some ppl dont even know that quest guides even exist, and i dont think that Jagex would advertise other websites :XD: I think that they're just to help players, not to stop the flooding into quest-helpers websites *´¨) ¸.´¸.*´¨)(¸.´ (¸.Lilith1023
SwreeTak
I don't think that Jagex tries to get people off help sites like Tip.It or RuneHQ. Why should they? These sites might actually help them. They can get RS players to become more active and get F2Pers to go P2P. I think that Jagex added the new Quest helps because of that they wanted to help people, and not because they wanted people to stay away from the helpsites, which also helps them in many different ways. Add me if you so wish: SwreeTak
PastyGangsta
What should happen is have a hacker go into the RS website and change the Knowledge Base link on the main page to a link to Tip.it. We are the greatest fansite out there anyway, so why not? :D I think Jagex is just doing this for the people that dont know about fansites. Nothing to worry about, I will always use Tip.it anyway. Infernalz2
ok, not all of the RS community is on the major help sites. so they cant give some helpful information to the rest of them?! i mean why would they want to get us off tipit? they even have a part of their rules for something on if some1 wants to make a helpsite, some guide lines they want them to follow, mostly going with their rules, like selling accs, money etc. and people wouldent stray from tipit just for quest help, we have a ton of other stuff here, quest guides are just a small part of it all. ^^^Click for My Newgrounds Page! OldJoe
Pretty much agreeing with what other's have said; It's mostly for people who don't use fansites and their quest-guides (i think so atleast). But i've tried this help system, it's good, but i somehow prefer TipIt's guides. Also because i guess there are some bad fansites (keyloggers etc) out there. But i don't think they are trying to steer away people from fansites like TipIt, HQ etc, since some Jagex staff are users here.
