Lionheart_0
I bet you came here expecting a rant, or someone saying how they do some crazy stuff in the store like ride the bikes. It's none of that. The local TRS (Lets call it that for now) is holding a job fair today and tomorrow (a friend of mine went there today, and got a job after 10 minutes of interviewing) and I'm applying tomorrow after school. Now, I've had a job before. Some of you may know that I worked at Wendy's (LOL Baconator thread). Now the thing about that job was that I was pretty much a shoe in(Mom works there), plus it was a fast food restaurant. After working there for 2 years I quit due to manager issues. So now I'm applying at TRS, which I don't consider to be that good of a job, but non the less still above a Fast food place. The problem is I have no idea about retail and am a little nervous about this interview (assuming I get one there). If possible, could anyone out there with experience in retail give me a bit of help on the kind of interview questions I might get and what kind of stuff I keep in mind. Thank you In advance. Another thing. I just finished making up my resume (20 minutes) and I'm wondering if its good enough. I wont post it now but if anyone asks to see it, I'll post it. Nom
The Baconator knows of your desertion. You had better eat it, before it eats you. 0 experience with retail, actually, but you shouldn't have a problem if you are polite and respectful, and have a good resume. But, that can be applied to any job interview, so what have I contributed.

xvillexvalox
Just make sure you don't say these things: -"I'm a convicted felon" -"I'm a pedaphile" -"I have a great sense of humor, I love dead baby jokes" -"I once tried to order delivery from a restaurant called "Have you seen these children" -"I love children, until they start to rot and smell" :

deloriagod
I figure you're just applying for a position like cashier/stocker? Don't even sweat it. I worked at a grocery store and I swear half the questions the manager asked me didn't even pretain to the job. He asked the usual "How can you help the store?", "Are you a hard worker?", and a few scenerio questions and how I'd respond. But then he asked me my favorite color. Then my favorite band, animal, letter, etc. Honestly, I had no clue why he even cared to know that but it was simple and painless. Just be sure to dress up and such for the interview ;) Good luck! Hope you get the job! :D Internet Marketing For Newbies

If you start arguing is a surefire way to get your [wagon] kicked out of your job. So don't do that unless you enjoy getting fired. Be polite, nice(especially to the stupid little kids asking questions  ), and be witty/funny if possible :) Theres my goliath of a post... -.- ~Brs : Listen to the mighty words of Bloodredsword. Unfortuantly as much as people like to think the "Customer is always right", they really arent, and stores will do everything in their power to make it a win win situation, and not just a we lose out, you win situation. Alright, going to school and then to the interview after, thanks everyone. Sig by IkuraiYour Guide to Posting! Behave or I will send my Moose mounted Beaver launchers at you! So don't do that unless you enjoy getting fired. That's [cabbage] - the customer is not 'always right' - and people who come into a store thinking that deserve to get shafted by the employees and essentially told to leave. If management sides with the customer - get another job. Management which is bullied by customers isn't worth working for because utlimately you will always lose at the end of the day. I have argued with customers about the 'always right' line way too many times to remember and my managers have always backed me up. That's asuming what you are arguing is a case where they are definately wrong. Hell, if you're unsure about something - check first. Just don't let them push you around with attitude, otherwise you're setting yourself up to just have a [cabbage] day whenever it happens.

flying_death_bombs55
I personally wouldn't work at Toys R Us, I can't handle whining little brats begging and crying to their moms/dads for stuff every minute of the day. When you mentioned the Dragon Plates I had a sudden vision of a load of gangsters running around in fancy dress yealling "Grim Reaper in da hood!" vivimancer
Ive worked a meaningless retail management job and a basically, all the guy interviewing you wants to know is, Can you be trusted to keep your hands out of the till, Are you legally allowed to work in (insert country), Are you able to get along with customers and other 'sales assistants' (read minions) And are you willing to put in the work or are you enthusiastic enough to pretend like your willing to. This is basically true the world over for the 'fasicinating' world of low-pay donkey work :)
Necromagus
Entry level sales jobs usually don't require much training. What really matters is how you present yourself to your employer. It's mostly just obvious stuff. Make sure your appearance is taken care of and show them that your communication skills are up to par. Judging from your CV, you can handle money and children, and have a casual interest in a very popular line of their products. The only real problem I can see with it is that you're lacking experience in retail. My first job was in retail, and my massive bonus over a lot of others was 12 years practical experience with close to half the stuff we sell :P
