Btw, just because your bored doesn't mean you should just stare at your bank. Go kill anakou or mutated terror birds or something.

Are you kidding me? That would be such a waste of time, especially for me.

I will know it is my time to quit when I cannot find interest in the game. But for that to hit, I will need to achieve all of my goals.

It won't come when you've achieved all your goals, but when you've lost the drive to both finish goals and create new ones.

Addiction is never a reason to quit. If you suddenly stop, you might be able to for a few weeks, but you'll eventually start playing again with even more interest and it'll get worse.

If you're playing to much, limit your play time each day to an hour or two. By only having a little bit of time a day you'll fall behind and eventually lose interest. The only real way to quit is to feel like there's nothing left for you to do. Then you're done and you don't want to log on anymore, which is different from quitting abruptly.

Does anyone have documented anecdotal data of this method working? :-k I've been an advocate for it for a long time, but I'm not sure if the method of suppressing the desire to play by playing less each day is empirically backed up.

Completely agree with your first point- people don't quit from addictions, the most they get from that is a short break ::' . Of like... three days.

From my experience, most people who truly quit do not just decide to stop playing. They just naturally play less and less, not even thinking much about runescape, until eventually it is out of their lives completely.

That's exactly how it goes. Except in the cases where they find World of Warcraft.

I will quit when 1 of theses 2 things are met.

1-When i starts to hurt my self or i start to ignore my family and my girl friend.

2-When i get on runescape and i realize that i have watsed X amount of years of my life.

I doubt that. Boredom will most likely be the cause, at least for a permanent quitting of the game. You'll lesson your playing in Scenario 1 (if you're a responsible person), and Scenario 2 could work, but I don't believe it's all that likely to lead to permanently quitting in comparison to the cause of boredom.

Anyone here quit permanently for a reason other than boredom or finding another, more fun MMORPG? It'll help my understanding of the general player process if I can get more data on the subject, as my personal anecdote is merely one example of how to quit, and thus not completely trustworthy for creating an objective opinion.

Fullmetal Alchemist, you will be missed. A great ending to a great series.

about a week ago i quit, i just started getting bored. I found myself, like someone else said, spending more time lookin at my bank and asking myslef "what should i do?" then actually enjoying the game.

The answer should be pretty obvious. As with all other games, the time comes to quit when you lose interest in the game, playing the game becomes painful, or when you're bored out of your mind whenever you start to play. This might happen after grinding on a goal for days on end, but that's frustration and no boredom and only means you should try doing something else! For me personally, I'll quit when I can no longer think of reasonable goals (200M XP in every skill is not reasonable) or when I lose interest in the game; but with JAGeX constantly updating the game, that'll probably be never!
