Is it okay to ask for a boyfriend or girlfriend in RuneScape?

 

 

 

 

 

No, that is solicitation and is not allowed at all. This is to ensure the safety of all our players.

I used to think this phenomenon was limited to low-level players that didn't stray to far from Lumbridge. I was wrong.

 

 

 

Yesterday, I was doing a slayer assignment (pyrefiends for the record) and a level 70-something starts the following conversation:

 

 

 

Him: Hi

 

 

 

Me: Hi

 

 

 

Him: You dong slayer too?

 

 

 

Me: Yeah, I have about 90 left

 

 

 

Him: Wow, that's a lot.

 

 

 

(Pause of about 30 seconds.)

 

 

 

Him: Will you be my gf?

 

 

 

Me: What?

 

 

 

Him: Will you be my gf?

 

 

 

Me: Why would I want to be the online gf of someone I do not know?

 

 

 

Him: Why not?

 

 

 

Me: Changes worlds

One of the weirdest things I've seen so far : A guy standing in Varrock yelling "Buying a hot gf 10k!!!" :shock: . I'm serious.

Lol hippy, yes there are gonna be daters, hes there are but you don't have to let them bother you. Sheesh. I would kinda hate to know you in real life lol.

I wish I'd have seen him. I could have taken his 10k and then used part of it to go to the makeover mage and turn into a man. Then I could follow him around asking him why he didn't love me anymore.

All I do to handle it is say something like "I have a life, thank you very much" or something else like that. F2P male characters are like vultures, especially on a girl who appears to be "rich" by F2P standards. It's dumb, but so is the word "noob" (and all variations), "owned" (again, all variations included), and the egos on some players. Ignore it.

I don't see anything wrong with online dating. As long as they don't come up to you and ask you to take some photos of them, it's ok. Just pretend them to be part of the decor.

What's even creepier is if your a dude, and you get REALLY bored and go to the "make-over wizard" (also known is mr/ms gender-smender). Then, your a girl (some people do this to get free stuff....creepy huh...so think next time and CHECK if they are actually a girl if you're going to even dam attempt it...and if you do stay away from me) so you walk past lumbridge...now, it's REALLY creepy when a guy hits on you when your actually a dude...(I run like hell trust me...).ANOTHER reason why it's really,really, REALLY gross.

The back of Lumby castle is the filthiest place in RS. If you can't stand the "wud u lyk 2 b my gf/bf", I advise you to stay away from that place.

I know what you mean, i really am a girl. i have pictures to prove it. I have people come up to be and call me "hot" and "sexy" and lots of other creepy stuff, like everyone else has said, theres a ignore button for a reason.

He admitted to me, yes, he done it a few times now. It made him feel very icky at first ( even dropped the d med he got from his first bodyfriend) but later on he grown to like it, so ive been told...

just ignore em. Lots of things in life and in game become annoying, you'll become stressed out worrying about every little thing around you.

I think theres a fine line between "online dating" and soliciting yourself over RS trying to get an RS bf/gf, or having a relationship entirely on RS.

 

 

 

If someone wants to RS date, let them. It's their life not yours. While I don't agree with the 12/13 year olds on RS that have a "gf" and knowing nothing else about them, once again it's their life, and if the "gf" turns out to be a guy they will learn from mistakes.

I was trying to scare my friends who didn't know about it...lol trust me, I got some reactions :XD:

When I told my father I was involved with a guy I'd met in a chat room, he shrugged and said "It's socially acceptable for someone to fall in love with a penpal they've never met. Chat rooms are just a modern form of that."

 

 

 

Five years on, that guy and I are engaged with a 19 month old son.

 

 

 

What irritates me is when we're playing RS together and may call each other 'babe' or 'honey' and people tell us to get a real bf/gf. There's just no way to prove that we are a rl couple. And no, we don't circle each other, or get all over ebaringly obnoxiously cutesy.

Sometimes when you see people saying like, "I love you!" They're actually dating in real life and like to talk in game :lol: Although it's rare it does happen.

 

 

 

What my friend does is, whenever someone asks to be his boy/girl friend (yes, hes a boy and people ask if they can be his boyfriend o_O), he says ok and adds them. Then he says, "Boy/Girl friends always give each other gifts!" and he actually gets things like addy armor occasionally. If they start to annoy them he just removes them and keeps his private chat on friends :P
