uh what?

Dude, when I was 13 I didn't give a crap about politics. To be honest you shouldn't have to either, you're still kids.

That's what I was thinking... And I'm an 8th grader :P

We're still kids? Ever read Artemis Fowl?

I would vote if I could, yes. OBAMA!

You've worded the question ambiguously. Do you mean would we vote now if we were 12/13 and in our current mindset, or during the mindset we were in when we were 12/13, or if people should be allowed to vote at that age?

In answer to all three: well, in my current mindset, yes. As a 13 year old I opposed the war in Iraq so I suppose that must've meant something, but I wasn't worldly or knowledgeably enough so no. Given the current education system and its parameters, people of that age probably shouldn't have the right to vote, no.

When I was 13, I had the political awareness of a very small rock. On Mars. So no.

Mind you, you have to be 13 to join tip.it., and this is the forum with answers to world hunger, the meaning of life, the bird flu epidemic (Oh yes, it's an epidemic now), some of the greatest contemporary literature writers of our time, people with subjectivity to see the perspective of others and, of course, a thong wearing lunatic raising money for charity.

...Why shouldn't 13 year olds vote?

I guess because they generally have a limited knowledge of politics. But then again, so does the rest of the U.S., so I'll just shut up right now.

Good idea.

I think the reason is because they are heavily influenced by their parents. I mean, as in, a parent might *cough cough* accidentally *cough cough* "influence" their 13-year old into having similar opinions as them.

No, because at this age most people are ignorant to their own beliefs.

Gonna have to agree with you on this one.

You say that like it's a bad thing. :?

I guess I'm one of the few that do.

I would raise my hand, even though, the whole idea of voting is stupid. It comes down to the electoral college to decide who becomes the president. The electoral college is supposed to vote the way the majority of the state they are representing votes, most of the time they don't , so whats the point?

You can't ever find a place that's nice and peaceful, because there isn't any. You may think there is, but once you get there, when you're not looking, somebody'll sneak up and write "(bleep) you" right under your nose. Try it sometime. I think, even, if I ever die, and they stick me in a cemetery, and I have a tombstone and all, it'll say "Holden Caulfield" on it, and then what year I was born and what year I died, and then right under that it'll say "(bleep) you."

Your art/comp teacher should put his politics back in the closet and get back to teaching art and comp.

The only people who tell you that you can't do something are those who have already given up on their own dreams so feel the need to discourage yours.

I'm in 8th grade. I like listening to political debates but of course I think I'm still a bit too young. after all, It'd be a one sided vote for my entire class since Obama is from our state.

If you ask me, 8th graders shouldn't need to worry about the new president. We have puberty and our grades and sports and friends to worry about. Thats important to us right now, adults have other things to handle. Letting us vote isn't giving us a priviledge, its an extra burden.

tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :(
But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities.
That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.

Last thing I would think of if i was in the 8th grade

No combat since F2p

As many others have said, if it got lowered, the parents will pressure them into voting for who THEY want in.

P.S. I'm 13.

j0xPu5R.png

I probably would, but I think it could be a problem. I bet a bunch of morons could all get togther and vote for someone completely random, which would screw everything up.

I'm 14 btw.

Pfft I'm almost 21 and don't know what the hell is going on in politics. I don't even know what the parties stand for. It's probably bad that I don't care either.

SHH HUT YUH MUH. DERKHED.

An 8th grader definitely isn't going to know enough about politics to make a justified decision... they would probably just vote for who their parents were voting for.

Age has nothing to do with that, even adults can make 'prank votes' into a significant political movement if enough people do it.

Heck.. Arnold Schwarzenegger got picked as governor of California over seasoned politicians, and his main qualifications are destroying robots, a strong german accent and lifting weights.
