Blueleader9
Hey guys, I am wondering if you can help me with a physics project. I have to make an egg drop device out of 5 pieces of normal 8x11 paper, and 1 meter of tape. The egg has to survive a 2meter drop, then a 2 story drop, then a 3 story drop. All that truly matter is that the egg survives the 2m drop. Remember: 5 sheets of paper, and 1 meter of tape. Thanks, ~blue~ I'm wearing Rune Axe.Wearing? Did you selotape the axe on your chest?

assassin_696
Wrap the paper round it so that it's not tight against the egg, what you need to try and do is allow the egg some time to decelerate when it hits the ground so the force on it acts over a longer period of time, it you kind of crumple the paper sufficiently it might be able to cushion the egg when it hits the ground. nine naked men
Hmm... What about a kind of 3-D star made out of rolled up bits of paper with the egg stuck in the middle. Kind of like a jack. sleep like dead men wake up like dead men
elmo_killer6
You could also try usings ome of the left over paper after wrapping it as a parachute to slow its speed.

mrmyk
Crunch the paper up so it can act as a cushion. Proud Retired Council of The GladiatiorzClick here for our website - 110+ F2P Combat Requirements
Verminox
Have the egg in the centre roll up the five pieces of paper and position arond the egg so from what ever angle it hits the ground one of the pieces of paper will stop the egg from hitting the ground. Or make a triangle of put the egg in that, since triangles are strongest struture.

StrOwez
simple, make a parachute out of the paper, and stick it to the egg. A friend to all is a friend to none.

Would be quite difficult. Proud Retired Council of The GladiatiorzClick here for our website - 110+ F2P Combat Requirements

SirHartlar
We did something like this in our physics class last year, and would've won if somebody didn't open to door on our egg. We chose to wrap the egg in tape, and make a parachute from the paper. It still fell pretty fast, but surprisingly didn't crack when it hit the ground. :)
hellbellz
Tape a peice of uncrumpled paper on top of it, so it acts as a parachute as it's falling. Crumple the rest of the papers, tape them on the bottom. Therefore the egg is vizable and it has cushioning. That would be my best guess.
Randox
Use sheets to cusion 1 end and the 5th to act as a atreemer to keep the egg upright I dont know if the big end or little end is stronger but I would guess the small/narow end. Which part hits the ground is just as important as cushioning with such kimated materials.
misterxman
Parachute sounds like a good idea, just make sure to add a small hole at the top middle so it doesn't flip or break. Use the tape as "strings" to connect the egg to the paper. Make a small base out of tightly folded paper so it can land softly. You may not have enough tape to make the "strings" so the other option is to cut narrow strips of paper and connect them with small pieces of tape. The parachute is going to have to be extremely well done in order to prevent it from just folding or not working at all. Bloodredsword
I've played this game tons of times. The best way I've found to do it is to make a jak sort of thing. I've never seen an egg break with that configuration. Listen to the mighty words of Bloodredsword. Tip it MGC Xbox live leader board!
No_OnE
Reminds of something we used to do each year in elementary school. We would each take an egg and use supplies to get it to survive a 50ft drop. Most people used shoe boxes and stuff. My third and fourth grade teacher would take the surviving eggs and make scrambled eggs with them and give all the kids in the class some. It was fun. Anyway, on a more on topic note, the jack idea sounds the best to me. Maybe add a parachute or streamer kind of thing with any extra paper to help slow it down some while it's in the air. Kashi
Welll umm there was just a topic about this like yesterday ... So here's what I posted there! This diagram should explain everything. Leaving your egg only slightly cracked, earning you a C+ or maybe even a B-! My greatest ambition is to kill every member of the human race. However I am a realist and therefore know that I probably wont be able to.

IGoddessI
Crumple the paper and tape like an egg carton but I don't know if it will have the same effect. When I worked in hospitality, we would put the egg carton liners in the bin then full blown peg eggs at it and they would never break until one time the nearly 7ft, largely built chef threw it so hard that it went through the carton hahaha fun times... The only people who tell you that you can't do something are those who have already given up on their own dreams so feel the need to discourage yours.
