December 15, 200718 yr For instance, imagine if all the recently disgruntled players had easy access to Jagex and its employees. I think that's reason enough for the separation. Yeah, I can imagine the ticked-off mob that would descend upon Jagex Towers rather rapidly. What a freaky and horrible mess. :( ~Mr. Devnull and normally with a cool mind.(Warning: This user can be VERY confusing to some people... December 15, 200718 yr Wow I used to go to church just a few hundred feet from that address. I can't beleive I used to be so close. :XD: I didn't even know about the game at that point though. Oh no. Please don't tell me it was... St. Andrews? :wall: But anyway, there is a reason for the separation. It's hard enough to deal with the virtual mobs, I don't think that they want physical mobs banging on their door either. ~ W ~
December 15, 200718 yr I might go to Andrews Mums house and see if I can get invited to dinner, that is if Andrew agrees to come up from the basement Funny how he is millionaire and you're nothing. December 15, 200718 yr Jagex staff are hard working real people. Some go to Anime conventions, some go airsofting, some play RuneScape, some have matches of Magic: The Gathering (long-time favourite card game of Paul Gower). Jagex employees earn an average of c̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã24,000 but customer support (a lot of whom are on work placement from university) only earn ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã14.5-18k and have to get through an endless amount of work, regularly dealing with users who are rude and illiterate and knowing that their performance will regularly be sampled and scrutinised to determine whether they are meeting their targets and quotas. Jagex somewhat makes up for this by having many 'jollies', awards and job perks (e.g. private health care, free gym membership and trips to Tenerife). Jagex's Investigation in the Community Unit keep an eye on RuneScape-related websites and forums, but generally speaking employees are advised not to make it known that they work for Jagex (and even ex-employees are barred by NDA from talking about anything secret). Do some post incognito? It isn't unprecedented. Mechscape World (the original MechScape fansite)
December 15, 200718 yr Some of the Jagex staff is probalby members of Tip.It. I mean, why wouldn't they? There are pretty many of them and they probalby likes to disscuss the game too, since they probalby play it too. It's also probalby a lot of RS players who have met a Jagex mod irl, but I don't think there is many of the RS players who have talked to one. Add me if you so wish: SwreeTak
December 15, 200718 yr Author It's definitely likely that at least a few of the 10 million players have met a Jagex staff member in real life, but I find it strange that no player has ever reported their encounter. And every owner of a party hat should have to go to Burger King, get one, and wear it in public every day of his life. If the CORPORAL beast is this hard, imagine how hard a GENERAL or COLONEL beast would be. a corporal is not even an admirable rank in armies that use that ranking system. December 15, 200718 yr Author Well, some players might have recognized a few of the older J-mods from the 2003 team photo, though. http://news.runescape.com/newsitem.ws?id=85 Also, there are pictures of Andrew that are publically available. December 16, 200718 yr I'm going to the building in August :) Good luck to you. December 16, 200718 yr I think that probably few Jagex staffers post here or this type of site in their spare time because what's the point. It must be tiring to work on RuneScape all day, and then going home to play it would tire one out. What's the point of joining a site like this if it isn't for a RuneScape community? Do I think that people have run into Jagex staff in every day life? Yes. Jagex is a company of humans who must eat, sleep, travel, and run errands. What's to say that person who you see in the supermarket on Mondays isn't from Jagex? Nobody knows where every person in the UK works, so obviously there's a chance people know others who work for Jagex and don't know it. I bet some Jagex staff have even recruited their friends in real life through "So how was work?" "Oh, we introduced a new game called RuneScape" or "I work for Jagex, a company who makes RuneScape"... My Blog - Fishing 82/99
December 16, 200718 yr I think it's pretty reasonable for them to stay a bit faded and mysterious. They have no actual need to show themselves and gives the players something to talk about and gossip on :P Runescaper since June 2005Blog

December 16, 200718 yr Author Call me what you want, but I parked outside Jagex's office last Wednesday morning to watch the staff go into work. I was 4-5 hours drive away from home for my interview at Cambridge Uni and I thought what the heck? :P Did you recognize or talk to any of them? December 16, 200718 yr I work roughly a mile from the Jagex Headquarters.. when I get the train, I walk pretty much past the end of the road to get to work. One of these days I might just drop in and see if Andrew has a combat level irl Lol, ROFL. Thats pretty funny, lol. But I think That they do have people on all the forums. To see what players "Really" think of the updates. They definitely do. In one of their updates, I remember them say that they look on fansites as well as rsof for feedback from the players.

December 17, 200718 yr no offense but why is it so terribly exciting to meet a "Staff member?" Ha! it's not like i have anything to ask them. i guess it's cool to know someone 'behind the scenes,' but they're sworn to secrecy anyway and will only tease you with useless info, hehe. i've know several pmods in the past, but i dont think i've met an actual staff member. one of my old pals (have no idea his name) had a convo with paul gower, but otherwise i've never heard from them. i talk to a lot of people, doesn't matter to me if they're staff or just a new member! people are interesting regardless. i dont think it'd be difficult for a mod to hide his/her identity.
