Will the Release of Summoning Drop an Old p2p Skill Down?

Its not really going to happen.

F2P never get updates, so, if they get one, like the bankspace, then they're good for a year or two more.

How discriminatory a statement is THAT!?!?! F2P never get updates (like the bankspace - yeah, that was revolutionary... not everyone wanted bankspace.) F2p is good for a year or two more. How'd you like to see P2P get updated once (not even major update), and be good for a year or two?

Bankspace is not critical in f2p. Not critical if you don't like the costumes and holiday drops. Especially, because Diango can keep em for ya like a costume room of sorts. It was not a major update, since it was easily possible to add just 4 bankspaces. No, JaGEx gave a whole row. I don't really care for more bankspace. But, there are more important matters at hand concerning the f2p players.

Need more feedback, please. Thanks!

~WSW~

If f2p gets anymore updates I quit.

I won't miss you.

Summoning in f2p? Pretty sure i saw a pic of mod lee saying it's gonna be f2p.

Going for 99 fm.

desert treasure could never be f2p because you need thieving, visit the desert, ice area, vampire place (all area over the salve). basicly no

i really dont think any skill sare going to go f2p, f2p have had many updates this year

We've had none this year.

And anyways, fletching is such a lame skill that f2p will probably get it.

I know I don't post much lol. Hopefully this ends the F2P not F2P debate :)

Thanks cory. That kinda helped. Except, where is the pet shop gonna be in F2P land? Yanille? lol. I dont think they gonna open Yanille up to f2pers.

Even though a lot of evidence is coming in as Summoning being f2p-partial... hmm, I guess there's no other reason why JaGEx would drop a p2p skill into f2p.

Well, if anyone else has any other supporting evidence that Summoning will be f2p, or if anyone has any other supporting evidence that a p2p skill might be in the works of f2p status, please drop a line in here. NO FLAMERS PLEASE! Thanks.

~WSW~

PS. I still support the idea of a p2p skill dropping into f2p. Just because, JaGEx has been known to drop the bomb a couple times, and surprise the whole...

This is not my idea - the theory of JaGEx dropping a p2p skill into f2p - it's an idea. I just brought it to light. I don't care if you do or don't like the idea. I do care if people attack me through libel, or if p2pers atk f2p for being f2p, or if f2pers atk p2p for paying to play. Please, no fighting. This thread is meant for the idea only. NO BASHING!

After a couple days, we've been hearing speculation ourselves about the existence of Summoning on f2p. We have had contradicting claims from J-mods about this. Some J-mods have said yes to f2p, some said no to f2p.

This means this thread is still applicable. There's still prospect of an old p2p skill coming to f2p. I can have hope in this. If not, then RS is pretty much dead.

~WSW~

I reckon they will. Thieving would be good, there are lots of NPC's to Pickpocket. Herblore could boost the F2P economy, and help players fight new monsters if Taverly was introduced TO F2P. I hear Taverly may be opened up for Summoning; if so, F2P players could also start herblore.

i realy would not care if the f2pers got a tiny taste of the skill, so little they realy couldent do anything with it unless they became members.

Or maybe they could only get it up to a certain level.

Kiss me, i'm part Irish!

nice idea. I'm f2p and i'd want either fletching or agility. Fletching b/c then i could get more into range (whcih i'm not, only lvl 30, lol), and jagex could make it so that f2p can only make up to addy arrows, and maple bows. I also want flecthcing b/c i have 6k oaks... Agility would be nice b/c then we could run farther (i already have 11, hacker hacked me, amde account p2p, and got agailty up, got account banned, and i got it back :D ).

I've also shared 2 p2p accounts (not my current one!!!! So don't report it!!!), one of which was good, the other was really nooby.

F2p doesn't need or deserve any new skills. They're a DEMO for Pete's sake. Most companies don't even let you play longer than a month, so considering that Jagex gives F2p anything is incredible. If they keep getting stuff, I'm gonna cancel my membership and save $60 a year, since F2p will have so much.

sonerohi.gifimage,p0wn,orange,lblue.png

well i have good reason to believe that JaGex will partially open up theiving for f2p. I have evidence for this in that you can now buy rotten tomatos from the crate by the cages in varrock. Being f2p since when rs2 came out, from what i can remember, f2p has never had access to rotten tomatos. Now i dont know what JaGex's intentions are but it is possible. There are several stands in the f2p worlds( 2 at al kharid and 3 at draynor), so opening up theiving for f2p wont be impractical. :-k

Well, the main reason I joined member's was to get all the cool items ::'

But anyhoo, I think f2p should get fletching and maybe a tiny bit of herblore, as f2p kinda lost a money-making skill. (Air running)

once again, i didn't say the whole p2p skill come down to f2p. I meant just a portion of it, like crafting. let me know when you can craft black dhide set in f2p k?

jeez, this thread was meant for ideas. not flaming, or even the above cr*p in quotes... go cancel your membership now, because summoning might be f2p-partial.

Not so likely. Doesn't have to do anything with Summoning. Especially if it's not f2p. I don't think it's a dungeon, because SoS is pretty close by; even closer is the Hill Giants. It's not a mine, because then mining would be too easy to make money off of, or of course flood the market with.

Anyone else care to guess what could be on JaGEx's mind?

~WSW~

Yews are currently dropping in price, fast.

Fletching would make them go way up.

  • Author

I like your point. I'd also like to add to that, there will be a sharp rise of normal log prices if fletching does come to f2p, then it'll steady, because then everyone will most likely keep their own logs. Willows will eventually rise back to 30 per as they once were (bows). Mmm.... can't wait to see where they put a flax field in. That'll be real nice. I'm thinking Rimmington.

As for Construction... well, I had a house on p2p, and I want to finish it. LOL.

~WSW~

All members skills are built around the entire member world, impossible to drop them down into f2p without opening up huge portions of the map.

Its not gonna happen, f2p don't get huge updates. Simple as.

Construction - f2ps can use normal and oak planks (since they can already chop normal and oak trees) , steel bars , soft clay ... I dont see why this one cant be f2p if we are talking about "All members skills are built around the entire member world, impossible to drop them down into f2p without opening up huge portions of the map." (its too new they wont drop just saying ..)

Farming - there are alot patches in f2p land ... no problem with this one too

Fletching - you dont need a bit of p2ps map for this one

Herblore - no problem with the map too

Slayer - well some monsters are f2p i think (bears , cows , dwarves , goblins , Minotaurs , moss giants and many more) ... and there is one f2p master there ...

Thieving - you can actualy pickpocket with no problem and there are 3 f2p stoles (i meen on f2p map)

so what was the "All members skills are built around the entire member world, impossible to drop them down into f2p without opening up huge portions of the map." again ?

Giving them construction would be like giving them a ton of of bank space, if construction goes P2P even a little bit I wouldn't become a meber ever again, because what would I be paying for? Server space for F2P?

  • Author

jimbob, good for you to drop down, but I don't think you will... after all, you paid for more than gettin 99 construction. You paid for a cr*pload of new weapons, armor, monsters, skills, etc. Plus 4x the f2p land.

Anyways, I don't think you read all the OT. I said portions of it. We won't be able to brew any drinks, except possibly tea. Maybe not even that. Maybe we won't be able to make a kitchen in f2p. Anyways, probably a max of 15 rooms is best for f2p.

^^^ even this is speculation. So don't get worked up about it. Construction is too new, and it doesn't have to be the one that get dropped down to f2p.

Although, since RS is posted on Miniclip, akin to Club Penguin, my sister had an account there, and they got player-owned igloos, even f2p. And a hell of a lot of little kids go play that game. So, what's to stop JaGEx from doing the same thing?

Of course, herby or fletching could drop down, more likely than construction. Or maybe f2p won't get a thing. Hey, we're not JaGEx. We don't know.

~WSW~

~WSW~

In what way is it discriminatory?

What important matters are at hand in f2p?

You talk about f2p is if it is a complete game with some flaws that desperately need repairing. I don't understand that idea at all. Jagex gives you the oppurtunity to play a demo version of their game for free for as long as you want. That seems very generous. Yet you seem to complain about a lack of updates.

What I do understand is that f2p players can get jealous of p2p for having so much new content on a regular basis. However, that is the great marketing tactic Jagex is doing and does not mean that f2p deserves updates too.

NOw on topic. Let's not talk about deserving, because it is a very subjective reasoning. f2p exists for a reason. It does not exist for humatarian reasons, it is there as a marketing tool for Jagex. Even without updates, f2p is hugely popular. From that piont of view updates are not needed.

Not all f2pers become members. Not matter how much better or how many updates p2p gets. Why would you update the game for them? I would think that it is better to focus that effort into updating p2p to attract other players to become members.

So no, i do not think that a p2p skill will (partly) become f2p.

From a personal point of view, I don't mind f2p getting the option to do some fletching. Like some arrows and some of the lowered lvl bows. That way each combat style has a corresponding supporting skill.

It's my favourite members' skill that I've helped to release," says Mod Mark.

Guess that settles that question: Summoning will not be f2p.

No, not from your elitist thinking, as a p2per, could you possibly think that f2p is just a demo. IF f2p is just a demo, then p2p has to be that dang good!

Truth is, p2p is THAT DANG GOOD!

Summoning is p2p only. Again, we're not JaGEx. Who's to say they won't give f2p a bone? I don't think f2p is a complete game, it's a demo without the "Your time limit is up. If you want to play more RS, sign up for members!" messages. It's also close to a really good complete game.

Honestly, I think they should revamp the stats page, so that all f2p skills show in f2p, and the one we see now be p2p only. I'm not on the side for summoning being f2p-partial. I wasn't ever. I've said it many times over. But, to release a portion of a p2p skill into f2p to rejuvenate the economy would have been timely in this time of major updates (GE, Duel Arena, BH).

I don't really understand your remark about elitist thinking, so I cannot respond to that.

What I seem to feel a lot in discussions about updates and f2p, is a lot about just giving f2p a bone. Just a little update, mostly to please the long time f2p players. However, I really think that those players are among the least interested players for Jagex concerning business. Therefore, from a rational point of view, I don't see why Jagex would update f2p to please those players.

The only remaining option seems to be because f2p would appreciate it so much. Or could we also name that behavior jealousy?

You talk about rejuvating the f2p economy. Is it in problems? Are the common options of money making drained? To me, it seems that many skills still make good cash in f2p. Mining, woodcutting, runecrafting, fishing even all seem to be good and reliable money makers. If anything, f2p economy has grown since the introduction of the GE. So what part of the f2p economy needs a boost to get back to the lvl of some years ago?

All in all, I really feel that f2p is good as it is. Sure, it is not perfect, but it is not meant to be so. I do get tired of all the posts and madness on forums every time somebody thinks f2p could get an update. And I cannot really blame the people saying the simple answer: "f2p doesn't pay and therefore doesn't deserve an update." All the time I was f2p, I never expected or asked for an update. I realized that if I wanted updates, I should become a member. Why can't many other players realize the same thing?
