What I don't understand is how people whine about how they have no money or can't afford it.

"Omg i have bad luck in monster drops!"

Pick up a harpoon and shark fish? So what if it's slow? it's still money? Get your runecrafting to 91 and make fast money that way? The game is not limited to monster drops.

You people act like it's impossible to make money on this game. This isn't real life. You aren't bound to bills and taxes and other obligations with your money. You answer to yourself when it comes to spending the money that you do get.

So you want me to go get 76 fishing or 91 rc just to get to lvl 40 in a different skill?

Its totally unrealistic that lower leveled players will be able to make any gain whatsoever from this skill.

I was referring more to people whining about money then what it has to do with the summoning skill.. but if that's what it takes for someone to make money then whatever.

There are other ways of making money then what I listed and everyone knows that. If you don't like the skill or the amount of cash it takes don't train it. You act like you have to or are forced to train it. And if you want to train it, go make money.

I felt this is a way for jagex to disguise their deflation, as they stated a few times the amount of gold circulating Rs is more than they'd like. i think there is a reason why they gave you the amount of tokens from the quest, and a reason for the high costing shards.. To get rid of some of that GP in Rs in this golden chance to remove the effect of inflation from alching (why do you think they arent lowering the price for Yew longs and such?). I have a feeling it will be more proportionate in the updates to come. This was round one it isnt over yet. I relized this when it was to late, as i already spent over 100k to get level 16 from 4. I like the skill just not the cost. For now its slayer training for me. BTW i do love the extra 64 bank spaces that came with the skill.

I knew it.

hmm..wonder how dragon would help you againt jad..

Jad directs its attention toward the dragon and ko's it then moves back to you

I don't think you can use familiars on Tok-Jad or in Barrows...
If the CORPORAL beast is this hard, imagine how hard a GENERAL or COLONEL beast would be. a corporal is not even an admirable rank in armies that use that ranking system.

Yeah, it is a pking minigame, so any arguments anybody makes will probably be biased.

The best way this will end :Everybody just says,"I'm not arguing with you anymore, goodbye."

The worst way this will end: I don't really know, psychological warfare? Worldwide thermonuclear war? Pie eating contest?

If only PC came out during this time. I'm sure more people would have chosen Slayer over PC.

Awesome skill. The monsters look pretty sweet and their abilities are alright. And we still have another batch of familiars! <3:

16 January 2008 - Summoning balancing

We've noticed that a few players are worried that the summoning skill costs a lot of gp to level. However after carefully double-checking the figures, we really don't believe this is the case!

A lot of people are looking at the skill and calculating how many shards they are going to need to level it up, multiplying that by the cost per shard, and coming to the conclusion that it's going to be very expensive.

However the key point that is easy to miss is the fact that the completed pouches themselves are extremely powerful. They aren't just junk to throw away! In fact, you can make at least as much money from using the completed pouch as it costs to make in the first place. For example, if you summon a creature to fight alongside you, the increased rate at which you can collect monster drops as a result balances out against the initial cost of the pouch. Or if you summon a creature to carry items for you, the increased rate at which you can runecraft, or collect items gives you back as much money as the pouch cost. These are just two examples of the countless ways the summoning skill can help you make money more effectively. We had to make the cost high, because the rewards are so high!

At the moment all our calculations show that if you use the pouches effectively, (with the possible exception of the very early pouches), you can make back the cost of the pouch by the increased productivity it gives. Therefore the actual net cost of levelling this skill works out at zero! That̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s significantly cheaper than, say, construction.

That's pretty good anyway, but we've decided we want to make this a really rewarding skill, and it's time we had another good money making skill in the game. Therefore later this week we are planning on halving the cost of shards. After this the amount you can make from using a pouch will be far more than it costs to make, and you will be able to make a tidy profit. In fact we calculate this will then make summoning one of the best ways of making money in the game, but only if you actually use the pouches! Finally, to make sure that reducing the cost of shards isn't unfair on early levelling, we will make sure that people who have already purchased shards will automatically either get some gold back, or receive extra shards so they have effectively paid the new price.

That's 1 thing!

I hope that this thread helped to convince Jagex :D. But it's still very costley, no matter what they say about earning it back. Altough I still think they're a bit naive about gaining the costs back.

And they DO control EVERY aspect of the game... They could make the high drops, for the test accounts, the absolute average, or the best it can be for a player...

Is it just me, or is the average number of players unsuitably low for it being the day after the realease of a new skill? I remember with Hunter, training spots were hard to obtain for the first week or so...

There are plenty of good moneymaking methods that require no skill levels. In fact summoning has created some as well.

Is it unrealistic that the low-lvl summons don't help much? I think not.

Basically my translation of what you're saying: "oh no, a skill that I can't buy my way into a 99 in 10 days." -.-

I think it's good that jagex finally came out with a decently challenging skill.

What challenge? The Spend Lots of Money, Walk Back and Forth, and Kill a Disproportionately Large Amount of Creatures Challenge? Or, as it's more commonly known, the SLMWBAFKDLAC Challenge?

I don't mind that this skill is really expensive i just hope they come out with a way to get charms that doesn't take years. Maybe they could make them like coin drops and have them drop 1-20 at a time just so it wouldn't take so long to train.

Fook we don't know how much xp those monsters will give but basing it off of the drop rate i noticed at fire giants for charms it will take a very very long time to get a significant supply of them.

who said you had to get them from fire giants? If you had done a little more slaying you would have found out you can get the charms from lvl 28 kalphite workers.
