You can play him down somewhat, but you're potentially going to lose a mon depending on the variant. Choice variants can be trapped, while the LO Mix variant has no issues breaking him. Demoli Posted June 17, 2011 Share Posted June 17, 2011 Wait, why is Thundurus up for suspect? 125 SpA, 111 Speed (Trolling the Latis and Gengar), 111 Attack (And access to hammer harm for the pink blobs), Nasty Plot, amazing typing, Prankster Taunt and T-Wave, T-Bolt, HP Ice and Focus blast being all the coverage it needs and being able to completely sweep teams without a scarfer or a starmie/Deo-S. Thundurus is really too much if he manages to set up, but then again i don't really want to see it banned, i see it more as a offensive variant of Zapdos. Sure, he has those amazing sweeping abilities after he's set up (<3 you Wobba), but he's way too frail, Aqua Jet, ESpeed and Ice Shard all do a number on him, he's SR weak and if he wants extra power he must resourt to LO, which with Sandstorm (which is really prevelent) and SR starts racking up. So you would need: 9 x Kelpsy Berry12 x Qualot Berry6 x Hondew Berry (This will put it exactly at the 44 you desire.)15 x Grepa Berry From there you only need 248 HP and 112 Spe EVs. He is pretty much a guaranteed 1-2 kills per match. I don't even bother with speed EVs since I want him to be as slow as possible. Not changing him. The free psychic switch in is nice and pursuit can really annoy opponents if used correctly. I use expert belt instead of choice band because I don't like being locked into a move. The expert belt also fools people, since they assume weavile is banded. He's probably the frailest pokemon on my team, taking few if any hits well, as well as a stealth rock weakness. I'd consider removing him if it benefits my team. It prevents ferrothorn, blissey, and thunderous from using thunderwave on my team. However, if I use the Lightningrod ability, I cannot use heat wave which really hurts his type coverage, as Zapdos was the only pokemon that could use fire effectively on my team. Slowbro has a fire move, but he's a physical wall so it doesn't hurt much. HP-ice is there to counter the rock/ground types that might want to come in. Substitute is nice if I can get it up, giving me a free agility. However, sub and agility are very situational and most games they are hardly used. I'd like to replace him with a better special sweeper it benefits my team more. He very nicely resists fighting type moves and can hit fighting Pokemon back with psychic. Outside of fighting types though, he doesn't really have a purpose. He's not strong enough to really put make an impact on his own, he serves as hit fodder most of the time since he can just regenerate the damage off. Looking to replace him with a better physical wall. I think one of my biggest problems is that I hardly have any fire coverage, which I could really use. My team also lacks ground and rock coverage. I have a surplus of ice coverage, with Weavile, Zapdos, Miensha all having an ice move. I'm just looking for any improvements I could make. This is the first team I've had some decent luck with this gen so far, outside of my sandstorm team, which was too easy to make. Isn't the whole idea to give it 252hp and no defense investment, so that you'll inflict the most damage possible with counter/mirror coat? I used smogons wobbufett set and instead of having speed evs I put them in defence instead.
