I think a big and overlooked patch note was this:

Grey quests will no longer give XP

A lot of the grey quests still gave decent XP, saved some grinding time. Not a total gimp but still a loss. I guess this clears room in my quest log!

I need everyone's advice. My friend is away for a month or so, so i've toyed around with the idea of making an alt (he has 2 45ish characters so i could bring one up and have 2 as well). I'm stuck on what class to make. I currently have a DT and love it, but want something different. I'm swinging between a Priest of Mitra or a Tempest of Set. The PoM has the heals but how is it otherwise? Useful? Tempest of Set is already good, and a popular choice i know....thats why i am kinda leaning towards the priest. Any input?

Nadril that armor is sick! Love the blue.

Took me like 4 hours to get it all up and running, install took about an hour and a half and then the nice 1 gig update they throw at you took 2 and a half to download. -_-

Took me like 60 minutes to install and patch it. ::'

The July 16th Patch Notes look awesome. The best thing has to be the 15% per miss will reduce the ending combo's damage by however many misses.

Miss a target on a combo key's 1 and 2 = 30% reduction from the last hit or (3). Preloading = dead, PvP = More difficult.

I rolled a barbarian, they are soo much better then assassins haha. I called it Arizark so add him if you want.

Just wait until the sneaking suspicions that Assassins is the base standard of what every class should be power wise. Every other class gets debuffed. ^_^

The mana thing is the best indication of that.

Where'd you hear that skate? Anyways, on the topic of balance (and for those new who are thinking of a class) I'm going to rank classes as "low" "med" and "high" in terms of how good they are.

Mages:

Demonologist: Med

Necro: High

Herald of Xolti: Med

Soldiers:

Conqueror: med

Guardian: med

Dark Templar: low

Rogues:

Assassin: low-med

Ranger: med

Barbarian: med-high

Priests:

Priest of Mitra: High

Tempest of Set: med-high*

Bear Shaman: med

*I know I'll catch [cabbage] for this, but honestly ToS are not the overpowered character people see them as at 80. For one, I've had the following one shot me (or two shot):

Ranger, Guardian (overeach post-nerf  ), Herald of Xolti, Barbarian, Bear shaman (was a long fight admitily, but then he pulled out crazy burst and 2 shot me).

Anyways we're still balanced because for those who can't burst me my heals do fine. Plus if I plan CC right I can beat other classes that can burst well.

Anyways with the chart theoreticly "medium" should be the best balance in my opinion, where as high is OP and low is just pretty meh.

This is all in my experience, and it certainly doesn't mean some classes don't need fixes. I.E conq/guard/ranger could all use some love.

Buff DT's!!!  I don't think DT's are as bad as everyone says, but they definitely are not in the top tier of classes and could use some work. I'd like to think i tank very well, and spit out a decent amount of damge considering i'm in defensive mode most of the time. Not to mention the crazy regen and regen spells i have. Seems like a paladin to me without the active healing spells.

I think the reason bear shaman are as "bad" as they are is because most people arn't capable or don't know how to play one correctly. Same reason you hardly see them being played. I'd lay down 10g on my Bear Shaman friend anyday against most classes. I'd rather have him, a level 45 Bear Shaman in my group then a level 60 PUG Priest to be honest. Because he knows his class VERY well.

I just made a Priest of Mitra. Level 5 right now. This will be my alt with my level 54 DT as my main.

To be honest I've only fought like... 3 DT's in PvP. I have no idea how they really are, but there is so few of them I assume it's not that powerful of a class.

Also looks like PvP changes may be here soon(ish). The Jul 16 test not patches has a lot of changes including a "PvP XP bar" for the upcoming changes.

Major feature cuts from WAR anounced

ahahahahahaha. I called this [cabbage] over a month ago.

In the latest of an ongoing series of interviews with MMORPG.com, Mythic Entertainment VP and General Manager Mark Jacobs has dropped a nuclear blast on the Warhammer Online fanbase: major features are being culled from the game in order to make their Fall launch deadline. In short, the capital cities for the Dark Elf, High Elf, Orc, and Dwarf factions will not be in the game at launch. The Human city of Altdorf and the Chaos Inevitable City will be the only Capital cities in the game. This is an enormous change, seemingly invalidating much of what we know about the game's core of RvR gameplay.

Additionally, four classes are being removed, deemed to be in a condition unsuitable for launch. They are:

* The Choppa (Greenskin)

* The Hammerer (Dwarf)

* The Blackguard (Dark Elf)

* The Knight of the Blazing Sun (Empire)

As the website notes, all of these are melee classes and two of these were intended to be the primary tanking classes for their race. This leaves the Empire and Dark Elf races without a dedicated tanking career, theoretically limiting their contributions to end-game PvE content. Jacobs moved immediately to try to curtail the obvious rumor-mongering: "This has nothing to do with EA ... they had zero input in this ... They don't even know about it. It's not a discussion we would have with them."

I can hear the WAR fanboys trying to rationalize this now. Sure, AoC shipped without PvP XP and bugs... but it certainly didn't ship without 4 entire [bleep]ing cities and 2 tank classes missing!

Cross post from my AoC thread, but you guys are MMO gamers as well so it's worth posting here. I myself am laughing my [wagon] off at the WAR fanboys, mostly because they criticized AoC for being "incomplete" :P

And of course it'll give you guys a nice warm and fuzzy feeling for knowing they are trying to rush out before WoTLK.

Well that has to be a crushing blow to those hyping WAR.To beat wow which they are trying to do, just look at video demo's of race architecture, enemys and base features and you seeits a very close doppleganger.Funcom realised it was very smart to not rush the game out and not worry about WOTLK resulting in a very well received MMO and an MMO that fuffils a very specific niche.WAR is just trying to juggle everything that wow has and then trying to expand on it in a development cycle that is way too short for them to achieve there targets.Realising this and having to rip out parts of the game isnt good PR for any game nevermind an MMO that touted RvR pvp.

And on AoC being incomplete it never was but there were people coming from other MMO's expecting more but we see this from every MMO.Joe Bong college dropout who plays games 16 hours a day and just goes ape [cabbage] on the official forums because nothing is there...Well of course not, you give time for the hardcore to equalize and reach an even footing then you start releasing serious end game content because it increases the longevity that they play. Its all about money MMO's its just how the business model works and its why where seeing the big 3 releasing major MMO's/content all at once.

Btw i can see that funcom also agrees that making all leveling gear mismatch and making you look like a clown is a good mmotivator to get a good looking set of gear and play more...

does AoC have any Australasian based servers?

when i upgrade my dinosaur of a PC i'm thinking of getting it, but i'm not exactly interested if i'm getting 400-700Ms like in WoW. <.<

I usually get 100-300ms on the American servers for this game so its not that bad.

@Nadrils List: I'm going to disagree with it as I think it's only based on your own experience through your own class, and not through other classes experience against, or working with the classes, I'm thinking there's 4-6 that are misplaced in that list. In a way it's kind of biased. Also I don't know if you were including both PvE and PvP, or just one of the two?

I'm really laughing at the WAR thing. So many people were waiting for those, plus how those classes were tanks, I wonder how grouping is going to be without them. It'll be interesting to see what happens. Can't wait until it gets posted on the official forums.

Where'd you hear that skate?

The Assassins forum & General via Famine's(Community Manager, or Sharum posted it) post I believe.

I think the reason bear shaman are as "bad" as they are is because most people arn't capable or don't know how to play one correctly.

I can say the exact same thing about every class that is called underpowered, or not strong enough. Perfect example is a DT or an Assassin, your opening moves in PvP determine the outcome quite a bit, and in PvE the Sin's DoT's, especially if they've got the specific feats to buff up the DoTs does more DPS on average than any other class except for the priests and some mages, without using exploits. I see many people complaining about Assassins being the weakest class (same with DT's), or Assassins being the easiest ones to beat in PvP, or that they die too fast in PvE. All of these are untrue. Assassins are probably the best class in PvP excluding fights against Guardians (As they can go either way, though it might change), especially with Lotus, and same with Corruption just a bit behind Lotus. For PvP Assassins should be considered above medium but not at the top. I out damage people my own level in groups of 6 in dungeons at level 40 through to 47 at the moment. I only die in PvP from ganking, forgetting to put on stance, or mistargeting someone else, or I fight a really good Guardian.

Clothies (or rouges) are easily 2-4 hit, which is practically easy to pull off, SA, SK(prevent running/using heals), SDS, GC (using atrophy somewhere), then unloading combos. By the time SDS finishes they are recovering from SK. SDS will probably finish the rest of the HP off by it's DoT anyways unless they have a massive hp regen. This goes for light armours, and medium armours as well, just takes 2 more hard hitting combos to pull off. Guardians are the only ones where it should go either way. I'm rambling though and defending my class...>.>

I assume it's not that powerful of a class.(DT's)

They are good, and have really good combos and everything, they just aren't right for AoC. They seem like a class from another game if you ask me.

---

Also, anyone else getting hit for 500 by same level mobs, while mobs +1 higher hit for 650? Mobs three levels lower hit for 300? MY defense has gone out the window (and no I'm not on an epic instance, and yes I have a stance on).

does AoC have any Australasian based servers?

Nope, US based and EU based.

Since everyone posting on this is too busy playing the game, I'll bump it with this:

Currently achieved level 50, finished all the resource quests except the skinner, like usual. Completed T2 of Gems, and T2 of Weaponsmithing. I'm going to stop leveling entirely, get some +dmg gems, and get 1.5k to 2k kills, to brush up on my PvP skills before the PvP System is implemented.

So much to do, so little time.

Also, Sage Solutions are the beast to make money at the Trader. >:)

Oh and sticking with WAR ripping out stuff(probably better to discuss this in here since theres been more points on it) theres an incredible amount of damage control from the WAR fanboys.Things like 20 classes were too many and these 4 classes dont have a bearing on gameplay and removing all but 2 citys because citys are all teh same, they just have cosmetic differences. Now lets think about those two prominent points from the two most distinct removals.

WAR was pitched as the first truly massive battle with the RVR combat and huge skirmish's.The huge variety and nuances that came from 20 classes was what they were hoping would create the diversity players would want in these wars rather than have just an archetype trifecta Tank, dps and healer. Now taking out 4 tanking classes for them not being diverse enough is sorta counter intuitive to what we thought was the games overriding philosiphy and it amkes you think about what might be next for the chop.I think funcom had the balls, to put it better to stick with nuanced classes(like bear shaman?i think thats one) and work on them to make them work in teh game and fuffiling promises,

Onto that second point about removing 4 cities.Cities and i dont even need to ask about AoC but all cities in every MMO are not the same. Not even in wow are citys just reskinsof the same model, each city will have a differant vendors, differant level ranges and probably most importantly differant locations. It usually doenst take long for the player base to set up camp in a city which is central in the gameworld, or a city which has easy access to smaller towns or areas of importance in the gameworld.Thats why most MMO's usually have 4+ citys and for WAR which is supposedly on a MASSIVE scale to suddenly restrict the mobility of youre playerbase by having 2 main points of interests is again counter intuitive. Its how EVE:online started in the beggining until they revamped uncontrolled areas because players flatout didnt want to go or didnt really have any reason to venture out.

Anyway you look at it its not good to rip out content and i dont think this is the last we will hear of it and we might hear of more content being taken out.Perhaps im blowing this out of proportion and WAR will find a way to maintaina sense of epicness but as it looks on paper and from what ive seen on video's it was looking just like wow and wow does an ok job of spreading the playerbase with all the capitals.

I was never really following WAR before but i might be now just to see what happens.

You either shift+right click when you see them, and you'll get an amount of options, one being to add as friend.

Other way is when they 'tell' you (/tell ) you can right click and add as friend.

I think these are the only way. I'll be waiting for your tell. ^^

They've been getitng buffed every patch basically, they hardly suck. -.-

To the grey quests yes, they no longer give you experience - Though I have a hard time understanding what this prevents, or does besides pissing people off, on a large or a small scale.
