So, I rented The Orange Box yesterday and I'm now trying out this game. It's really confusing, in all honesty. It's hard to get a kill, and I seem to be dying a lot. Are all games in TF2 objective-based? Is there any Team Deathmatch or anything? This game seems really hard to get used to. Anyone know a good beginner class?

Yeah 360 version is pretty terrible.

Are the controls the terrible thing about it? That would make sense, but unfortunately I only have it available for the 360 right now. I really seem to suck at this game though. Do I get to put the blame all on my 360?

The terrible thing is that none of the updates or new maps are on 360, which means no new items or fixes, as well as about 200 achievements less.

But yea, the terrible part is the horrible connection issues, the complete lack of bug-fixes, and no new items. Plus if nobody has a mic (which happens often) there is 0 communication possible, making the whole thing one big cluster [bleep]. But it is workable, I still had fun.

Lenin, be honest. You only like the heavy because all the achevements are references to communism and USSR history.

And because he's got a huge [bleep]ing gun named Sasha. And a sandvich. That is badass.

See I always thought switching guns is crazy easy on the PC. I mean, Just make sure you use the quick swap "Q" key a lot.

It is, for my flamethrower-shotgun. I still have to get used to reaching up for the 3 key for my axe. And I only recently realized I can use the scroll button to switch, and that's still taking some time to get used to. Eventually it'll be crazy easy, but for me not yet. On the 360, all you have to do is hit the shoulder buttons. Left takes you in one direction on the weapons wheel, one goes the other way. So no weapon on most classes is more than a single button push away and a millimeter of finger movement from the triggers.

It pisses me off that I cant switch to the other weapon without clicking a number or using scroll.

 

I like q so much.

i think i mentioned this before, but use quickswitch. I think its under keyboard options, click advanced or something. But with quickswitch switching weapons is the easiest thing ever, just scroll up or down.

Yea, I know. I'm just not used to using it since I didn't switch it on until last week or so.

Eh, I only like using it for the spy, otherwise it just feels weird.

My config uses Q to switch between the primary and secondary weapons, so switching through my weapons is really easy because I never use the melees.

You can set it in multiplayer settings, like when playing soldier you see the rocket launcher when it's out? Most competitive people turn that off to get a full view of the screen. I like it a bit but it makes melee really hard :S

It's good fun switching between the minigun and fists on heavy with q whenever I happen to notice an enemy spy disguised nearby. Just one or two good swings of those massive fists and watch the spy fly :thumbsup: Or just whenever someone runs straight into me and rather than wait for the wind up of the minigun just slam them instead :thumbup:
