"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice

Well... My day was a bummer... For starters, felt like it would never end. But the bad part is that the girl I'm after is not in any of my seven classes! Just when I'd get it all together! Anyway, I guess I'll tell her... (when I look a bit more presentable) I'll just walk up to her, and say "Hey, remember me? I was in your homeroom last year..." then... "Your hair looks nice today." And if I mess up there... Then.. (Jeez I don't know...). Anyways, is this a good idea? Thanks in advance.

  • Obviously you ask her to come with you. Drive with her to the steepest mountain. Put her in the backpack and spend a week climbing the mountain. You will drink the rain and you will eat like a bear. B

Sounds good, but be ready to spark up a conversation ( if the one that you are talking about is going no where) and you have to be confident and relaxed ::'

Well.. In a few days, we'll see what happens. I'm going to just walk up to her and say like I said above ( In case you didn't understand ) and tell her "blah blah I was in your homeroom last year" Then "blah blah, your hair looks nice" Then what should I say to 'spark up a conversation'? I just hope I'm ready for the rejection lol. :twss:. Any tips for this in case she says no?

Don't think about the rejection and what is she supposed to say no to exactly?

True, but one day I will ask her out. But in the meantime when I talk to her, what if she says something like 'Are you like trying to ask me out?' I'm going to have to say no, but one day I will want to depending on how close we get \'

1363468.jpg

Don't be humble and ready for rejection. That's what she wants. But what she really wants is a cocky [wagon] to ask her out. Then, maybe you'll get to a second date before she realizes you're a loser.

Lol, what exactly would a wagon be? You can PM me or something. Try to describe it.

You know; your rear end. The poopdeck. Arse.

But I don't really agree with being the complete jerk [wagon] everyone seems to say. Being too humble is bad I know, but being too cocky is bad too isn't it? Might be our definitions of 'jerk' that are different though...Eh.

A good step to handle rejection, is look for other opitions. I don't want to sound like a [bleep]-in-a-waiting-list, but if you casually look 'round your class and see some nice lookin' girls and talk with them and keep them in the back of your mind, with the current girl on top. If the girl you ask says no, your 'others' will become available. Hope that makes some sense.

Oh, and one more thing:

So I guess I should tell him. Right? I just don't want him to tell her... :twss:

Then again... What if she has a bf already... :?

[bleep] "if's".

Ok, well when I get a decent haircut, I'll see what happens lol. I think my hair is a bit too long, except some girls seem to like my hair, but I'm just going to randomly walk to up to the girl I like and say "Do you like my hair? I hope you do, since I have an UBER crush on you <3: ." Lol, so, I'm going to ask a few 'other girls' first to see what my hair is like. Hmm.... that still won't awnser if she wil like it... Oh well... Maybe someone will be able to help me.

Yea, but i gotta admit looks make a girl want to talk to you. Its a turn on, but looks won't make a girl stay just attract her its like some short term magnet :P

I've kind of wanted to post here for a while, but couldn't bring myself to. I'm not sure what's holding me back. I mean, if I can't express myself online, with anonymity..

Anyway, my situation might be extremely stereotypical with an obvious answer, but I'll post it anyway. I'm a senior in high school, and there's this girl I've know for about two years now. We've been sort of friends, but not really talking outside of classes we've had together. Well a bit ago I just really started liking her more, and thinking about her a lot (See what I mean about being stereotypical :P). But still, I can never seem to really talk to her, and this year we don't have any classes together. When I do see her she's always in a big group of friends.

Another thing on that subject is that the whole group of people she generally hangs out with don't really get along with me. I'm not sure why, but we just don't.

I've spoken with her once or twice this year, and it's been friendly enough I suppose. I'm not sure whether to just try to get over this crush (I guess that's what it is? I've had it for a while.), or actually try to make something of it. I just wouldn't know what to do.

Well, I hope I don't regret making this post.

First off, don't regret anything, now speaking of no regrets.. go for it. Try talking to her whenever you can and keep an eye out for other girls as well you don't want to get stuck with " one itis.". If you meet another girl it might make you get over the crush you have now so just keep yours eyes open ::'

Shoot for it. Sometimes it's better when the girl hardly actually knows you.

Maybe you could get yourself a friend cluster, as they're known to us scientifical folk. Then, collide with her cluster, meeting her. Or, wait until she's alone, then ask her. "Whatev."

Anyways, no regrets, like joy said. We only get fourteen lives. Let's make the best out of at least one.

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

I guess I should have elaborated a little more, I was also asking how to really go about doing that. I know that's not a question that has a one size fits all answer at all, but I hoped there was something I could be told. I know by senior year I should have had some type of relationship, and already know this kind of stuff..but I haven't.

snowsigyy7.png

Well, something simple like a local sock hop or football game would be best. But, if she's that kind of girl, you could offer her a seat on your throne (no, wait, loveseat) of power.

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

Well, I'm asking for advice on two situations here:

First, there's this girl I like, but she likes two other guys,a junior, pretty much outta the picture, (she's a freshman), and the other already has a girlfriend but still flirts with every damn girl he meets. I've been trying to help her out, but she's not feeling too hot and she doesn't know what she wants, from what she told me. I'm stuck here.

For me, there's been a ton of crap. I'm worried for this girl, about her being hurt, but also remembering about my late grandfather's sudden death, school, and football. I'm tired, sore, and not happy at all. I dunno if it's depression or not, but it certainly seems like it.

I'm definitely not giving all the info, so if you need it, I'll tell you. But at the moment I don't feel good AT ALL.

You need to decide on two things Powman.

Firstly, you gotta think about whether the situation with this girl is actually making you feel better for helping her than it is making you feel worse because of your emotional attachment to the situation. If it's making you feel worse on balance, you have to make a decision on whether it's becoming unbearable. A good way of doing that is to think, "If this goes on for 6 months, could I actually bare it?". If the answer is is "no", distance yourself. You have to look after #1 before you can even think of helping anyone else.

Secondly, in regards to all the other stuff, I'm guessing the reason you've posted on here instead of talking to your friends is because you either don't trust them or you don't find their advice helpful. In which case, there's nothing we can really do on TIF to help you deal with all that other baggage, much as we'd like to. You need to see someone where you can let go of that hurt without feeling like you're being judged for it. In other words, you need to see a counsellor. If one isn't available at your school, then one should always be available through your GP. If you want, tell your GP about your suspicions about suffering from depression. He'll do a physical examination to make sure it's nothing physically wrong as opposed to something mentally wrong If they feel you're suffering from clinical depression, then they'll refer you to a higher authority in order to make that diagnosis.

If you feel like you're suffering from depression, the one thing you must never do is look on the Internet for topics relating to it. The number of times I've heard about cases of self-diagnosis (one was from Wikipedia -.-), and there's nothing bloody wrong with them. They're just feeling blue. Not that I'm saying this is the case with you, but just a wise word there.

tl;dr version: See someone where you can release that excess emotion in confidence. If it doesn't work, consider seeing a higher authority, or another counsellor.

Worrying for her isn't making me feel worse, I just have a whole lot of crap on my shoulders (but I should make myself happy first before making anyone happy, I agree with that).

The problem with her isn't making me feel worse, I'm sure of it. It just sucks for her really bad currently and I would like to help her through it.

I'll take your advice into account, though. I've got a lotta thinking to do.

Well, I've given my advice on all the other issues. Now, about the girl...

What exactly is wrong with her? I'm guessing she's feeling rather confused because of the guy who flirts with everyone, but she's unsure whether him flirting with her is a sign of something more or whether it's just his personality.

Am I right?

Am I right?

You're pretty spot on, he flirts with everyone, yet he has a girlfriend (who gets pissed off at the girls he flirts with because she thinks they start it when he does all the time). She's really jealous, obviously.

If that's the case, she needs to find out whether he's really being altruistic. From where I'm sitting from the description you've just made, it doesn't sound like he's really all that interested at all. He's just an extroverted jerk who gets thrills from making all other people fall for him. Same would go his girlfriend, except she probably goes further. Such people are rarely worth the time people give to them, not that it stops people going to them in the first place.

My personal opinion doesn't matter though. If she doesn't find out what he really feels, then this uncertainty isn't going to go away unless she gets over him first. She's in a constant feedback mechanism. She's asking "Does he like me?". If he flirts with her, she looks for a reason to doubt he does. This reason would be the fact he offers her no special treatment compared to everyone else, and thus we are back to the original question.

In short, here would be my solution - find a way of getting her to find out whether or not he does like her (and I'll bet £10 he doesn't), and if he doesn't, get her to say "no" everytime he tries flirting because he's got a girlfriend already.

Hopefully, her saying "no" to herself and him over and over again will snap her out of it and get her to see common sense.

I guess I should have elaborated a little more, I was also asking how to really go about doing that. I know that's not a question that has a one size fits all answer at all, but I hoped there was something I could be told. Senior year? You've got nothing to lose, you hardly know her and if she rejects you, you most likely won't ever see her again anyway. If you are shy and you don't have any good stories to talk to her about, you've got to lie. Go online and read some interesting and FUNNY stories, because if you can't make a girl laugh, she wont be interested in you for long. However, this will eventually stop working; this is more like an advice for a one night stand lol.

But if you're not shy and an outgoing guy with a sense of humor, come up and talk to her. Girls love when you talk about their looks and their cloths, don't be too straight that you're interested though. Get a little cockyness in your attitude, they love it, trust me.

Yea, but i gotta admit looks make a girl want to talk to you. Its a turn on, but looks won't make a girl stay just attract her its like some short term magnet :P

Yep, that is very true for teenage girls and early 20s girls. Attractive looks is what makes a girl come up to YOU (not you to her). Sometimes she doesn't come up to you (or walk to ya) but if it's in class, she will start talking to you all of a sudden.

If you have pimples buy Proactiv: http://proactiv.com

Haircut is important. Though, personal opinion here, I think having long hair (by long hair I mean LONG hair -.-, like below the mouth or nose) isn't a chick-magnet. Short hair cuts generally give better results.

Having white (not yellow, or semi-yellow) teeth also helps :). Deodorants/colones that "give" out some sort of "cool" scent helps too.

Now, my ultimate chick magnet (what I consider) is having pretty male homeo sapien arms. Decently toned. Perhaps not toned but you can still show it off.

Looks are what makes a girl who you have never ever known before, want to talk to you. Just come up to you all of a sudden.

Personality comes after. Just tell her what women want to hear: "You look beautiful today!", use words such as: pretty, gorgeous, amazing, astonishing, very pretty. It may seem repetitive, yes, but it works :)

Those are my advices to you, Brandon, and anyone needing them.

Good luck. When you are nervous about talking to her or something, just think of this: "I have EVERYTHING to gain and nothing to loose.". If you get rejected, so what. You don't know her so you don't care of what she thinks of you.

Once more, gl.
