"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice

Y'know, a lot of girls are like jobs.

Let's say that a woman has a close male friend. This means that he is probably interested in her, which is why he hangs around so much. She sees him strictly as a friend. This always starts out with, you're a great guy, but I don't like you in that way. This is roughly the equivalent for the guy of going to a job interview and the company saying, You have a great resume, you have all the qualifications we are looking for, but we're not going to hire you. We will, however, use your resume as the basis for comparison for all other applicants. But, we're going to hire somebody who is far less qualified and is probably an alcoholic. And if he doesn't work out, we'll hire somebody else, but still not you. In fact, we will never hire you. But we will call you from time to time to complain about the person that we hired. Funny thing is how goddamned true it is.

I've seen that somewhere before, where did you get it from?

Heres the deal: If you want to meet more women, you have to go to the places where they go.

If you like athletic women, go to the gym or spendtime at the coffee shop or juice bar next to a gym.

If you like spiritual women, take yoga or meditation classes.

If you like large women, hang out at Weight Watchers.

Being barely 15, I can't really go to bars or clubs, so do you guys have any suggestions when it comes to where you can meet girls? I'm really annoyed at the lack of interesting girls at my school.

Depends on how you define interesting. I know very few genuinely interesting people. But I have low standards for friends, so as long as they have a cool name it's aight.

Know what I'm saying? Nawmisayin?

Anyways. Just lower your standards. Everyone has something interesting about them once they've reached a certain age, you just have to dig a little deeper to find it. But not by being friend zoned. That's the whole point of dating - to find out about people and choose someone to be in a relationship. You shouldn't stalk people and find out everything about them, because imagine how boring it would be hanging out with them? "Hey, remember that time we did that thing together we both knew about?" "Yeah" "Yeah it was pretty cool huh?" "I'm leaving."

Or so.

I'm pretty much in this situation, though I've realized that I will never ever date her and I'm through trying. I've been hanging out with her so much lately that I don't even feel like being around her anymore. <_<

See, now is when you stop hanging out with her for a couple days, and just disappear.

There are ~35 girls in my grade and the only ones I'm not somewhat close to are antisocial. :P

I'll see about the common hangout spots, but all I can think of right now is the mall...

...oh Ottawa.

Matt: You want that eh? You want everything good for you. You want everything that's--falls off garbage can

Camera guy: Whoa, haha, are you okay dude?

Matt: You want anything funny that happens, don't you?

Camera guy: still laughing

Matt: You want the funny shit that happens here and there, you think it comes out of your [bleep]ing [wagon] pushes garbage can down, don't you? You think it's funny? It comes out of here! running towards Camera guy

Camera guy: runs away still laughing

Matt: You think the funny comes out of your mother[bleep]ing creativity? Comes out of Satan, mother[bleep]er! nn--ngh! pushes Camera guy down

Camera guy: Hoooholy [bleep]!

Matt: FUNNY ISN'T REAL! FUNNY ISN'T REAL!

I despise ottawa, it's a nice place and all, just really really boring.

Today would have been a year if my well, now ex girlfriend and I hadn't broken up. hot damn.

I'm not that upset about it anymore, I kinda miss her, but meh. [cabbage] happens.

How can I disappear if she considers me her "best friend?" I've been trying to stay away for the last couple of days but she calls me to hang out, to ask me questions, and just to talk. And we even have the same classes together. I don't want to be a jerk and not answer her calls or try to avoid her but idk what else to do to get away for awhile.

111-1.jpg

Nothing weird about starting a conversation with an aquantance. How else would you make friends? (or relationship partners)

My town also has the problem about no real teenage hangout area. I suggest you join some local groups and clubs from your community (county wise, not just limitted to city). I've done this, but I'm not always satisfied wit hthe people I meet. Go visit a liberal arts college. Their loaded to the brim with interesting people. And at 16 you can pass it as a college visit.

Or get a bunch of friends and chill at the local mall, like myself. Decent amount of interesting (albeit strange) people. most of them are between 12-17 so that's still your age group.

Say: "I can't."

Or, alternately, ignore her.

Either one works. If she tries to initiate conversation, be cold. Use body language to show you're bored and not listening or caring, and keep responses to "Yes" or "no".

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

You don't have to be a jerk to "diappear"

Ignoring isn't a very nice move, but keeping yourself occupied and busy with other things not only gets her off your back, but it ups your personal "value". Make up something cool, but believable. The less busy you seem, the less attractive and interesting you'll be.

Yeah, I'd agree, being cold probably isn't the best move. Just a bit of distance perhaps, if she asks you to hang, pretend to be busy etc

It depends how attractive the girl is. If she's used to being hit on all the time, and you attract her while making it seem she doesn't attract you (unlike all the other guys she knows), for example by ignoring her, you're heading in the right direction. Or one of the right directions.

Right idea, wrong method.

Don't ignore her, (unless when first opening, and I'm pretty sure nobody else on this thread opens anyway) instead disqualify yourself while DHVing, or use a neg or 2 (or more) if you think she might get hit on a lot. Apparently some 10s in places like LA won't respond unless you neg a couple times in a row within the first few seconds.

I don't mean completely ignore her. Put yourself above her, if that makes sense?

I do that quite a bit without meaning it. I'm usually really busy and preoccupied at college, and barely get time for others, so I do most of my socialising outside of college, such as Facebook, text, msn and obviously meeting up with people, parties etc.

I've had a few women just start randomly adding me (from college) on msn and we just have long conversations, which we continue when we're in class. You should definitely talk to her, but make sure you can still keep talking and hold the conversation (or at least think of something else to talk about).

Some of my best friends have been from long conversations not in person, so I wouldn't say that it matters that much if you talk to her over msn.

EDIT: In some cases, it can be better to do talk over t'internet. If you're shy (or as Lenticular will want me to say 'Shy'), then it's probably easier to do so.

Ok, i wanna know something here.

Hey, I open at parties and social situations. Nowhere near as strongly as a real gamer would, though. Just the fact that I do it seems to put me ahead of the race, and if I came on too strongly gaming, I'd probably scare a high school girl away.

To Alex's dilemma, to be honest, a face-to-face conversation would be better. Because if you're hilarious as hell on msn and can't follow it up in real life, she'll be disappointed. If you think you can handle it, break the ice via the internet, but most people are far more humorous behind their screens.

I'm funnier in different ways. Physical humor is tough online.

Wait, msn? I skimmed over that vital detail.

Why don't you talk to her in, uh, science class? If you're interested in her, ask her out straight up. All you have to do is ask confidently, as hard as that may seem for some during the teenage years.

[if you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or

Fullmetal Alchemist, you will be missed. A great ending to a great series.

In fact, you aren't asking her to go out with her. You're telling her that she is going out with you Friday. I was thinking, the term "asking out" sounds pathetic and unmanly. Telling a girl that you're going out, however, is guaranteed to put hair on your chest.
