"I want a girlfriend/boyfriend", and other such relationship advice

anyway, good gift ideas come from something that makes your relationship different from anything else. Inside jokes, objects from where you met, reminisecent memories, such and such.

One of my gifts that I was quite proud of was for christmas I bought my former girlfriend the DVD to the movie that we saw together the day we met, along with a heartfelt card, and a fairly awkward IM. Granted, this happened before we started going out, but...we started dating less than a week later, so I'd like to think it had an impact on her. B-)

Ah, the good old days.

Speaking of the wicked [bleep] of the east, she called me today to tell me she's dating the guy she left me for again. That was a fun conversation <_<

I'm about ready to just drop her 100% from my life. All in favor?

  • Obviously you ask her to come with you. Drive with her to the steepest mountain. Put her in the backpack and spend a week climbing the mountain. You will drink the rain and you will eat like a bear. B

  • Okay so I'm pretty confident at least 2 of you remember me and maybe .5 of you remember how my last post went. To recap, I went on the first date of my life and then a second one that went poorly.   T

The thing is I've only known her for a couple months, and we've only been getting close this past month. I ended up getting a vegan cook book, as she is a vegi and lives out of home.

Do we really have to answer that?

Anyway, was dating some girl, but some of the [cabbage] she said just turned me off. "Rape is for those that were asking for it." What?

I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal.

Livefeed: I'm stalking a conversation between two college girls sitting next to me in my dorm lounge. One is the girly-girl preppy good looking stereotype. The other is more of a homey, proud girl stereotype. They're talking about their feelings in highschool, and how they meets guys, how they look, how much they care, etc. What I've learned is, the harder a girl tries to look good, the more insecure she is about who she is. She hopes to attract guys on a more physical basis, because she beleives that her personality isn't ever going to be good enough. The girl that doesn't care so much about her appearance is more looking for "if I don't look fake, then any guy that likes me is going to like me for me". Which is reasonable logic. But it made me think. Hitting on attractive girls is not as hard as I previously thought in highschool. They're insecure. They practically BEG to get hit on to fulfill some void in their confidence.

my theory now, is that with confidence and a strong personality, you can attract whoever, whenever. No more intimidation, because the girls are twice as insecure as you are. maybe more so.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to listen to why the one girls' boyfriend is "crazy"

You really shouldn't follow this advice, but you should totally rape her and then say she asked for it.

Plus I think the whole teenage girl thing will end soon (hopefully), because my girlfriend is absolutely in love with him(she is 18), and im beginning to feel threatened by his [Justin Bieber] dashing looks.

Yea, maybe she was just begging to get "raped" by you. Kinda like meg in that episode of Family Guy when they get robbed.

I really haven't ended the relationship, I was just a bit weirded out about it, I'll probably just push on for now and see how well it works out. I cannot interpret things like that for the life of me and in that context, it's a risky idea, but I might not get a chance like this in a long time.

what are your guys' thoughts on long distance relationships?

what are your guys' thoughts on long distance relationships?

dissatisfying, and often a waste of effort that you could be putting towards a more likely candidate of a happy partner. Short-term long distance isn't a big deal though [like If you've been dating a girl for a year, and she has a buisness trip for a month in another country, that's worthy of sticking around. But if you've dated a girl for 2 months, and she's going away for the summer....you may want to consider other people.]

@Iamdan...

yeah well, i guess i was slow on the uptake there. I guess I didn't realize girls openly talked about how insecure they were.

Stupid idea imo unless you've been together for a long time and are actually in love (not infatuated, as in it would take over a year to get over her rather than months)

It really just seems to me like a pen pal [bleep] buddy with the label of LDR otherwise.

I mean there are countless women you could date, why her?

what are your guys' thoughts on long distance relationships?

It depends heavily on the situation. You have to consider how long you've been dating, how far apart are you, how committed are the two people, etc. Imo, it's not something you should do if you don't think that there's a good chance the person is "the one." If it'll be worth it then you won't have to ask yourself if it's worth going through with. If you have to sit there and ask yourself, then you don't love the person enough to believe that they're worth waiting for. Either way it is extremely difficult.. but the more confidence and faith you have, the easier it will be and the better chance there is of pulling through it.

well how do you guys feel about it if the boy decided to go out of state to college and after a few months of being away from each other the girl decided to go to college with him out there but after a few months the girl has to go back and the boy really loves her but can't stand being away from her so he decides it's better for both of them to be friends and move on and now after a few days of being alone the boy wonders if it would be worth it for them to be together?

Meh. I dated my girlfriend for 3 months, and then I had to go away for the summer (which is 4 months). We managed to see each other every few weeks though so I guess it wasn't completely a long distance relationship.

Worked out fine for us.

IMO, as long as it isn't long term/permanently long distance it can work fine if both people want it to. I think it's unlikely to work out if one partner goes away to college, and the other doesn't - simply too long, too many new people, etc.

Part of me agrees. If one goes off to college, it be in the better interest of both to break up, atleast until college partner can resettle their lives. As above poster said, too many new people. BUT if the college person isn't going to go out and meet those new people [bad decision], then that person might as well stick with their highschool lover [possibly bad decision]

Anyone know any good tricks to avoid getting a "crush"? I'm starting to crush on this one girl and I rather not because all that ever leads to (for me) is nervousness and infatuation. That in turn just ends in disappointment

Picture her taking a dump, assuming you're not into that type of thing. Other than that, there's not really much you can do to cure a crush.

...why are you so quick to ditch a crush? Do you not even want to attempt to talk to her? that's most definitely not a habit you want to get into.
