March 3, 201313 yr Don't get me started on the tendency of OT. Seriously, never seen a more tightly-knit collective than what was here a few years back. Seemed downright hostile to new people, at least to me. But, yeah, as my siggy says, I have gotten some recognition here. On a different topic, I still haz no chance for a girlfriend. Absolutely none. Just waiting for university now for hopefully meeting someone even remotely suitable for me and getting me first girlfriend.Granted, I still am young compared to most of you, but still. So I've noticed this thread's regulars all follow similar trends. March 3, 201313 yr You have more of a chance than I do. Women aren't exactly lining up to date 30-somethings who are always broke due to child support payments. Still, I've not given up hope. I meet a lot of people every day at work, so who knows? Mrs. Right Mk II might be just around the corner. Check out my blog to read the Adventures of a Big Damn (F2P) Hero. THE place for all free players to connect, hang out and talk about how awesome it is to be F2P. So, Kaida is the real version of every fictional science-badass? That explains a lot, actually...

March 3, 201313 yr Bah, RPG, don't you ever read stuff? Even I knew that and I have been around here for less time than you have. And I am only posting here for not allowing you having the last post in here. And Kaida, at least you've had a wife, so you must have done something right, so it can't be that bad. I still haven't even been on a proper date with a girl... So I've noticed this thread's regulars all follow similar trends. If nothing else, it's valuable practice if you can get an opportunity. University can move quite quickly, by which I mean the window of opportunity to meet the most people is the first week or two, or frosh week (definitely worth participating in). The first week or two though gives you the most freedom to sit down and talk to strangers at meal hall, talk to people in your class, and everyone can get an invitation to just about everything (residence parties and the like). Good time to build up a social network that you can work with to meet even more people down the line.
March 3, 201313 yr ^It's a shame that I totally failed to do any of that in my first two weeks at college. On the upside I've been making up for lost time through clubs and such. And I lurked these forums for almost a year before making an account, so I can definitely relate to our community being intimidating. The only difference between Hitler and the man next door who comes home and beats his kids every day is circumstance. The intent is the same-- to harm others.[hide=Tifers say the darndest things]I told her there was a secret method to doing it - and there is - but my once nimble and agile fingers were unable to perform because I was under the influence.I would laugh, not hate. March 3, 201313 yr It's not that I am ruling it out completely, but I am finishing it up in 3 months. And I did get myself started really wrong at the start of high school, didn't talk or hang out with anybody the first few days. And now I am stumped and quite alone, even though I have changed a LOT during high school. So I've noticed this thread's regulars all follow similar trends. March 3, 201313 yr It is a fantastic environment to meet new people, totally agreed; really go out to as many parties as you can and make the most of it because you only get to do it once in your lifetime. I would provide one slight caveat: Most people don't settle into their eventual friendship groups in the first fortnight, most form after a couple of months at least, going into the second term after Christmas, so if you find the first week or two completely overwhelming or you notice that other people have made more friends than you, I wouldn't be too alarmed by that. One thing I couldn't recommend more is getting involved in your union, or whoever's responsible for running societies. Societies are a fantastic way of meeting new people because everyone there already shares a common interest with you, and that it makes it so much easier to use as a platform for getting to know the rest about them. Compared to some random stranger in your flat who, actually, you might not share anything in common with. The same also applies to coursemates; you're doing the same subject because you all have some interest in that subject, and you're all in this together. As for girlfriends... the only pressure about finding a girlfriend is the pressure you put on yourself. Being in a relationship is not the be-all and end-all of life--being happy is, and people who use relationships as a means of making themselves happy usually wind up doing the opposite. You can do things that make you more interesting or attractive to girls, but it will still "happen when it happens". Don't be so down on yourself. | Favourite Game Music | Last.fm | HYT Friend Chat Rules |
March 4, 201313 yr Join as many social clubs as possible in college (ideally, join a fraternity that doesn't haze and has members whom you can get along with or look up to). Get a part-time job at the union that forces you to be social and meet new people. I was a cashier and it did wonders for my social skills.
March 4, 201313 yr Hey guys, new to this thread. I've been looking over the past few pages of posts and I've got to say, I'm enjoying the discussions you guys have here. I was in the same situation as a few of you before. I was a pretty big loner in High School. I went from a French Primary School to an English High School so I started off with 0 friends. Made a few but it turns out they were just letting me hang out with them as a bit of a comedy relief I guess. Used to just have me do stupid things all the time, which I did because it made me feel accepted. Anyways, all this to say that my social life in High School was pretty non-existent. Used to spend all my recess time in the library either 'Scaping or reading. Didn't attend my prom because I was too chicken to ask anyone to go with me. I was also 225lbs and 5'11" by my senior year so that didn't help the confidence. So I graduated and did nothing for a year. I literally would get up in the morning, Scape all day and go to bed at night. Every day I would hit that auto-logout feature that Runescape had (not sure if it's still there) where the game would log you out after like, 8 hours or so on consecutive play time. It would happen twice some times during the day. My mom eventually got fed up with that and forced me to get a job at the grocery store where she works. It was life changing. Lost weight (165lbs now, work out 4 days a week), and my social skills improved so much. I started noticing that girls my age would talk to me for no reason, just making small talk and stuff like that. That made my confidence shoot through the roof. So yeah, that's basically my story. Lately I've had bad luck in the girl department. The last two women I've tried having relationships were just using me for various reasons and were doing things with other men behind my back. I guess I must be attracted to that type of woman or something.
March 4, 201313 yr I'm so happy to see all these new faces. I don't know if it was something I did, but PLEASE BREATHE NEW LIFE INTO OFFTOPIC anywho, back on topic:I might have known Kaida had a kid? I remember someone saying they were married a few years back, and it might have been Kaida, but the name and the memory don't match in my head. I remember Goddess had 2 kids, a marriage, and a divorce over the course of her stay here. One's name was Raiden. Lord knows why I remember these things. Living at college is a huge bonus to making friends at college. I commute, so I only have a handful of friends from college, but to compensate I've made great friends at work with kids my age dealing with the same issue. March 4, 201313 yr She found a new partner and they were engaged. Not sure if they got married eventually. Was she pregnant with a second? I knew about Raiden, that was the lad from the first marriage. Ohhh wait, Xavier was the second... of course. I also recall she had a degree in psychology, and was working as a kind of teaching assistant / support worker in a school for children with learning disabilities IIRC. Very knowledgeable, great person. Sumpta was another frequent visitor of this thread in particular, she's still active on the general board and is six DG levels off maxed total level in RuneScape. | Favourite Game Music | Last.fm | HYT Friend Chat Rules |
March 4, 201313 yr Me and you Ging, we been here a while. :P date canceled on me tonight, but kind of expected it to happen. she's always been a huge flake. I'll be going to a campfire for some beers later. I guess this counts as a heads up to my later potential drunk posting. Quote Quote Anyone who likes tacos is incapable of logic. March 5, 201313 yr I've been here longer than the both of you. I remember Goddess getting married and having Raiden, but I don't remember anything about a divorce or a second child.

March 5, 201313 yr So funny thing happened today. Muggi is going to have a really big laugh about this, and have a big facepalm at me.So me and my ex were talking today. I think she misses me. She has a big smile on her face the entire time i'm talking. It's really nice. I'm still not 100% sure what i want to happen between the two of us. But yeah various topics were raised today. So first of all i mentioned how one of my friends from back home got married this weekend, and how it seems like everyone is either getting married or having babies. She mentioned her mom saying the same thing and her mom then asked her what her plans were for the future. One thing led to another, and her mom brought me up and asked me if she thinks (my ex) she will evr marry me. I kind of laughed because at one point i really thought she was the girl i would end up with eventually (and a part of me still thinks so). I feel like over the past few weeks we've gotten closer than we've ever been because we talk a lot more than we used to. So we kind of joked around about the getting married thing for a few minutes and i guess we both kind of realised that it might actually be a good possibility that it will happen one day. So anyway, i told her about my plans to move out a month or 4 after i go back home. Told her i want to get a place for me and my sister, because i don't want her living with my parents anymore. They fight too much and it's destroying their entire relationship. She then mentioned how she and her friend thought of doing the same thing "so maybe the 4 of us should just get one big house and live together". For a moment there i thought it would be a great idea. I told her finding a 4 bedroom house would not be hard, and it would cut the cost of rent for each of us by a lot. The company i'll be working for will already pay for a house for me, so if i live with more people it means that my salary basically increases. But then i thought of what Muggi said "don't move in with her right away" and i started laughing so hard. I just couldn't believe what had just happened. But anyway it's still about 4 or 5 months till this is even worth thinking about seriously. I told her we'll see how things are when i get back home and we see each other again. No use making plans now. Just thought it was kind of funny. Also, i've been talking to claire a lot lately. Actually talking to her. As one friend to another. I decided to change the way i respond to girls. Instead of always trying to tell them what they want to hear (in hopes got getting into their pants) i decided to just be real for once. Be me, and be stupid and silly like i always am. make my stupid jokes, say my stupid things, act my stupid way. I told her that i missed hanging out with her. We were meant to go do something this weekend, but i was caught up with my studying so it really wasn't a good time. Maybe next weekend i'll take her out for lunch. She's a really awesome person. Amazing girl and i feel extremely honored to have met her.
March 5, 201313 yr She updated us once on a different thread if im not mistaken, thats why i know 2 notes:2/26 is my birthday I lurked for close to 6 months before I got an account, so youre not much older than me. I've beeen in the relationship thread since Sep 07We had the Relationship thread since then? Jesus Christ. I vaguely remember lots of relationship threads (for some bizarre reason) mods and members got so annoyed they made a single sticky...what we have today. "The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is."
March 5, 201313 yr Sound advice on the not moving in right away, though I might be biased since the last time I did that it nearly started a war (with a 'sort of' friend, not a lover). Side note. I was still here when this thread got made because there was a new relationship thread like every other day.
March 5, 201313 yr With all this discussion here of this thread through the "ages," I contemplated parodying a mock-lore of this thread based on . ...but then I realized:-I don't follow RS lore-I'm relatively new to this thread-Not many people here play RS anymore :-| "Our story begins with the Elder Posters..."
March 5, 201313 yr I remember posting ITT for the first time when the thread was around its 60th page (and DaLatios was OP). Matt: You want that eh? You want everything good for you. You want everything that's--falls off garbage can Camera guy: Whoa, haha, are you okay dude? Matt: You want anything funny that happens, don't you? Camera guy: still laughing Matt: You want the funny shit that happens here and there, you think it comes out of your [bleep]ing [wagon] pushes garbage can down, don't you? You think it's funny? It comes out of here! running towards Camera guy Camera guy: runs away still laughing Matt: You think the funny comes out of your mother[bleep]ing creativity? Comes out of Satan, mother[bleep]er! nn--ngh! pushes Camera guy down Camera guy: Hoooholy [bleep]! Matt: FUNNY ISN'T REAL! FUNNY ISN'T REAL!
March 5, 201313 yr Haha, I don't think I went on off-topic before there was a sticky but I remember when the first sticky got closed, a new sticky got put up (back when DeloriaGod was the main advice person here, and while I don't remember many details I remember he had a website called DeloriaGod Inc. that caused some sort of issue... wish I remembered more but this was in like 2006/2007 lol). Then the thread hit like 50 pages and they randomly tossed the first couple pages into the abyss and made DaLatios the new OP for some reason because they said the thread was too big.. If only whatever mod responsible for that could see the place now haha.
March 5, 201313 yr Yeah few people even realize this is the second life of this stickied thread. There's a couple hundred pages that got lost during the rollback. The original scripture was a plethora of posters and opinions (and a very naive me haha). Ah, the good ol' days It was actually because of the first version of this thread that I decided to be a Psychology major, much like iGoddessi. I really looked up to her. March 5, 201313 yr If I may break the history lesson for a bit... I'd like to discuss the topic of height. I am not very tall, I am 5'3" / 160cm. I am short compared to average men in the area of the world I live in, most women I meet eye to eye with or are taller than me. I've been concerned about my height lately for some reason and I am curious how that would affect the dating scene. Most girls I've talked to say they don't consider it a factor, but I suspect they're saying that along the same lines as "I'd date a guy with good personality, even if he's ugly"...which we know is a lie/loosely-tied truth. Anybody has any experience with this? Does it affect you/someone you know? "The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is."
March 5, 201313 yr Well, I am too tall and it has been a problem sometimes. But for god's sake, how does one tell what girls want to hear?At least I am always honest in everything I say. Half the people that know me hate me for being so frank and honest and most of my friendships start a bit weirdly because of that, but I am known to be trustworthy and a good friend. Yet somehow I don't get along with girls :D So I've noticed this thread's regulars all follow similar trends. RPG is constantly dealing with psycho exes.Muggi reminds us of the joys of polygamy.Saq is totally oblivious to how much chicks dig him.I strike out every other week.Kalphite wages a war against the friend zone.Randox pretty much stays rational.Etc, etc

Being short (or ugly; or skinny; or fat; etc.) isn't going to prevent you from achieving your dating/relationship/sex goals; it just means you have to work harder and/or put in more numbers than someone who's taller/more handsome/in better shape would to get the same results.
