tyluke
Just curious of peoples opinions. Should Runescape move to PC. I curious whether people think that Runescape should be able to be bought on disc and played via online; instead of via your internet browser I think I would buy it and it would make sense; but what are other peoples thoughts only 2 skills below level 50 :)

lcchs
the reason rs is popular is because of it accessibility, i can play it on an old computer or at a library. if u make put it on a disc u make it a lot less available, first u need to buy the disc, and this means people have to get their behinds off the chair and go buy it at a store which will cost quite a few bucks, a game with a disc will require install and that will not be permitted in places like schools and library where a vcertain percentage play. then what u can only get updates once every 1-2 years because it need to come on a disc? plus a game on a disc will be more demanding on the computer's system requirements, already a few people cant use rs hd and like previously stated it will be like wow or diablo making it a game for poeple with hi end comps
Bloodkay
It'd be no different from the recent update, as I see it. It just means people who could handle better graphics will play it. If it was still connected to the rest of RS, it might be a good idea. Moar Grifix!!1! Taking a Playstation 3 break.
Makoto_the_Phoenix
I don't see the advantage. There's no offline-doable content, and you'd have to connect regularly to get game patches/bug fixes, or to talk with any of your friends online. highlanders
That would target different demographics. That can be either good or bad. Good because new type of gamers may be attracted to the game. Bad because other demographics might not be interested at all. 2480+ total
tyluke
Thanks for the comments guys. I agree about the Library thing; i forgot about that portion of the gamers. but, wouldn't you simply have to download game updates instead of having to buy a whole new disc? Yes I agree there are pros and cons. I just feel there are a fair few more pros then cons :D only 2 skills below level 50 :)

Canineteeth
If it was an optional thing, then yes, but remember some people could trick it into thinking it was online and have all the time it the world to find glitches, and your pc could easily send false information like "clicked on rock" a million times, then drop rock, all via an autominer. re4p3r1
if RS was moved to PC then it would be greatly improved. Jagex would have to pay more attention and dish out more updates now that people are spending money buying RS. there would be more diversity in armor and weapon like WoW

aspokaspofkjsopfkapo
runescape is a browser game, it's made to be played on a browser. If they moved to pc then it wouldn't be "runescape"

Shahrazad
It might not be as popular as it is now. People can easily access the game via the internet and play. I wouldn't think many people would buy Runescape if it was played on disks because there are other good recent games that are much better than Runescape. Plus there are other online games nowadays in shops which look really good comparing to their graphics and game play for example. *Started Runescape in 1st of August 2005*. Alex_Ewan_1
For me it is a big no no. I can currently access runescape from any computer. If I had to install the game from a disc then its only available on pcs i install it on. If I go to a mates house and he has it installed I still have to bring the save files from my pc to his to use my account on his pc. Way too much trouble to be worth it. reaper88888
Why try to fix something that is not broken :? +1. It is better like this, if you had to buy a disc, install, ect, it would lose the accessibility which, at leasst partially, makes RS the game it is. There is no meaning or truth in life but that which we create for ourselves.
klankaos
No way. Absolutely not. As has been stated, what makes Runescape Runescape is the accessibility. I'm happy to head over to the library for an hour or three when I'm bored and log on. If you moved it do disk, sure it could have better graphics, but the gameplay wouldn't be at all the same, and there's really no other pros to the situation. I simply see so little point to doing it, and so much of one for not doing it, that I can't imagine it ever happening, and would likely quit Runescape if it did, along with most of the people I know. I'd like to hear some pros for the idea as well, like Makoto said. I really can't see any - even the upgraded graphics would mean taking it out of Java, which they can't do, because they'd have to rebuild the game from the ground up, and basically kill it. So where's the good in this idea? Why would it make any sense at all? Being immature is a part of being mature.
Evilfish1
i suppose the only pro to it could be that if you have the disk, you automatically have axcess to the members server. but one could only register x amount accounts for the members. it would have to be like 60 for the game but it would be an option for those who can't use a credit/debit for members. I think I'll do Baby Blacks :P
klankaos
No WAY would ANYONE EVER pay $60 for Runescape. Sure we might've all paid that over time, but everyone bought a single month first just to test it out. Nobody went full out and bought a year without ever having tried it. There's no way Jagex could persuade anyone but established players to take the plunge and buy RS for $60. And anyways, it's possible to buy members using cash mailed in. I bought my first few months that way, being too young to own a credit card and having parents that won't condone the use of theirs for buying time to play a useless game. I managed to convince them, but if that first few months had been a $60 lump sum, I never could've. It's simply not an option to make people pay that much. Being immature is a part of being mature. Koo
Jagex stated themselves that they intend to keep Runescape running on a browser. Besides, what's the point in having a disk when you can just play it online without having to download anything? (except a small 1mb file) ^dds'er in progress =D
