Wisp
My god. I am so sick of how people are on this forum. On every single rant you find at least of 5 universal arguments: 1: Deal with it 2: Get over it 3: OMG LITTLEST CHANGE EVER MOST POINTLESS RANT!!!!!! 4:Don't like it, don't play. 5: Do something else, there is plenty more to do. Are you kidding me guys. Lets reread the rants forum description shall we? "Blow off steam by venting your game frustrations." Also, people usually say, if you don't like it, try to come up with a solution. For a start, jagex will never change it based on some random ranter on a fansite forum, and secondly, a quote from the rant forum guidelines "We want to provide a location for basic ranting without the pressure of trying to generate discussion or come up with a solution" On every single thread in this forum practically, there are only people bashing one another. This forum is to vent steam, not for us to hear the same repeated arguments over and over again. If someone complains about the changes to the wilderness, you hear get over it, deal with it, and that they should quit if they don't like it. If someone complained about the war in Iraq, saying that it never should of started, would someone say, OMG, it started years ago, get over it. No. Because the repercussions of the war are still being felt, same with the changes to the wilderness. As for the littlest change argument in all the other threads, so what... When they changed how monkfish looked last summer, I didn't like how it looked, and it affected me personally, since I had to fish another 50000 of them or so. If I recall, I got over 450 supporters on that one. It was a little change, but we liked it more how it was. With the do something else argument, let's say they removed your favorite skill for some reason. It is a skill that is not absolutely necessary in the game, like summoning, wouldn't people rant? Or should we tell them to just do something else. And for telling people to quit? Are you serious? They are angry about an update, and it doesn't mean they should quit. If anything, this forum serves to frustrate the ranters even more. People on this forum need to think how stupid their arguments sound before they post. And I know someone is gonna try to be funny, and post one of those five arguments on this thread as a joke, and even more so because I posted this sentence. News flash: It's not funny. I have a feeling people who actually rant are more likely to agree with me on this one. Hegemony-Spain

I have a feeling people who actually rant are more likely to agree with me on this one. I agree completely with you. The whole TIF population has gotten pretty bad over the years, I don't know like 90% of the people anymore like I used to. So many people on TIF now are rude jerks and you can't even post something anymore without being flammed. This goes for some of the moderators too that are triggerhappy. I had a topic for fun in Debate Forum about Mans or Men but it got locked. I can accept that because it was just for fun anyway, but I've seen a lot of other threads locked too. The comments people post nowadays makes me want to punch everyone like that on these forums right in the face, especially when they say stuff like that to some of the old school players who have been in TIF forever, I see it all of the time on these forums now. No I'm not talking about myself...I've seen it towards other members on the forums. Also, what Josh says is true. As long as there is some sort of banner over someones avatar then they will usually be treated the way that TIF used to treat people. However, if there's no banner then no one really cares and will treat the person like dirt. This doesn't go for everyone without a banner, but for a lot it does. What Tip.it needs is a reputation addition. A little button on someones post which you can click a thumbs up or thumbs down for whether or not you liked the persons post. This would go very far in showing who the scum of these forums are. Also, a nice little warning and ban from the forums would be nice as well if the reputation gets too low. =D>

Sumpta
Obviously, you have a point. I haven't been in the rants section for a long time and I am kind of shocked to see some of the rudely worded 'get over it' reactions here. However, regular posters do have a hard time in here - the same rants over and over again. They are often hardly thought out and of an abysmal writing quality. And if you dare to criticise, then you get an "omfg get off my thread I was just venting that's what rants are for you idiot". A lot of the people who are venting, write their rant in a very aggressive way blaming Jagex or some other player (the noob) of all the sins of the world. Not a style that is particularly inviting for a lot of sympathy from its readers. That's why the Debate Forum was created. A tightly moderated forum for all those rants-frequenters who liked a good discussion about RS' stronger and weaker points. That is also the reason why your thread got deleted... because the debates section is meant for well thought-out discussions, where people can plead pro or against something. Not saying it wasn't funny, but it didn't fit in the tight plan for that forum. Problem is that most of the crowd who started the debate forum have drifted off, leaving a very quiet forum behind. And not all rants get bad criticism. The rare good rants do get good replies. Like this one.

Exactly, I have had many discussions (arguments) with people and for the most part it is because they are griping about something that they manipulated to achieve some prestige in the game. There are very few rants out there that warrant positive responses. The vast majority of rants is about the same thing. The mods are quick to attack the vast majority who are sick of reading about how great RSC was. How about getting the posters to reply in the same topic instead of creating tons of the same topic over and over and over again? Hey, this will probably get deleted since I am going against his viewpoint. In my defense, I don't say "get over it". I try to offer a different perspective. It's not even the fact that you don't agree with every rant; in case you haven't read the OP fully, this thread is about those who just go in a thread, say "get over it" and lurk more. Mr. Moderator and a lot of other people hate this, and that's why this rant was created. Your posts don't seem to say anything about this issue. "Dragoonson&co." doesn't actually give a flying rat's arse about what exactly a targeted rant contains: as long as they don't like it, they post the same lines as the OP contained. They don't offer viewpoints, they just spout a glorified GTFO. See the difference? And the funny thing is, none of "Dragoonson&co." are actually defending the "get over it" mania, they are trying to avoid the point and say how "we've seen this rant before". "Get over it" is sometimes a normal reaction to a wildly accusing, incoherent, silly, downright aggressive and/or crybaby rant. Granted, I can get awfully annoyed by the people who can contribute nothing better than "get over it", but the fault does not lie solely with them. "You f-ing moron, jump off a cliff after cutting off your you-know-what" can also be a normal reaction to these rants. Assuming you to be mentally sane, will you post this on the forum? I don't think so. The only difference between the two is that one of these will get you a warning by one of the numerous mods here, and the other is just simple old stupid. The fault does not lie solely with them? Sorry, my fault that I want to rant! I do think it does. It's all about self control. Let's take an example. Topic title: omg i h8 jagex Content: jagex rly falied nao i h8 stupid tr8d limt remoev it!!!!1! Is it (in theory*) allowed in the rants forum, looking at the board rules? Yes. Is it allowed in the rants forum, looking at the content? Yes. Therefore, Is it eligible for a "get over it" and/or "stop whining" response? NO. Will you think this person is an idiot, or that this is a poor rant? Yes - but this is irrelevant at this point. And then god forbid thinking about a rant with good grammar, good or neutral content etc. They still get abused. *The mods are often pretty haywire here. That's why this had to go here. I can easily see both viewpoints. This is a case of two wrongs don't make a right. How can you be disgusted with the same old moan about the wilderness and simply say get over it because you are tired of reading about it? I agree "get over it" is overly used. I also agree that "*whine* *sniffle* no more pking!!" is overly used too. You are also correct that I don't have to click on each topic. However, honestly I enjoy reading almost all of the topics. Not all of them I agree with, and certainly not all of them do I respond. Anyways, just to be clear....I can see both sides of the coin. Each point is somewhat valid, but please people, I beg of you. If you are going to respond in any of the tip.it sections, please, please, articulate your viewpoint.
