Introduction:

 

Hi there i am going to be creating a thorough tome of the history of Runscape. After I completed the latest runescape quest Meeting history I have found it imperative that there is a thread under general discussion that sheds light into the "correct historical events" (dont get postmodern on me claiming there is no such thing, i know this =] )

 

 

 

Now that we are aware that Guthix did not create Runescape it would be good to start at "the old gods" (how very ancient greek mythology ie titans)

 

 

 

*note 1: i will be relying on others to help compile this information so we can create a really good read for everyone on tip.it

Book 1: Lore of The Old Gods

 

 

 

[hide=]During "Meeting History" there is a cutscene showing us Guthix teaching and instructing the first humans of Runescape/Gleinor. What is interesting is that we are told Guthix did not infact create Runescape, he meerly brought the first humans through a "portal of sorts". We are further enlightened that there were "old gods" who are even older than the omnipotent guthix.

 

 

 

Guthix is clothed in green however we are not shown in his face. He has very 19th century romantic ideals of being "one with nature and being balanced. He shares these ideals with humans in the cutscene.

 

 

 

This cutscene poses many questions:

 

 

 

1. Who were the old gods and how old is Runescape

 

2. What happend to these old gods

 

3. So many more things we need answers for[/hide]

There is no information about these elder gods in RS or the God letters? How could we possible know anything about them?

Yeah because the family saying guthix told them the eldergod's created runescape long before he came there of course is jsut the family misinterpreting things

 

 

 

Thats like saying my aunt told she bought a puppy because her neighbours couldn't look after all their dogs puppies. But I don;t think thats what happened I think my aunt actually got the puppy from a fairy that came ibn the night because i don;t think that barking next door ever was a dog.

sounds fishy to me.. the god letters have guthix controlling all and even in game guthix is the most feared/powerfull

maybe... maybe the runescape gods are like the Bajoran (Startrek DS9) Prophets? and they are not linier and can move though time with ease?

Perhaps there was a thriving runescape under the eldergods, but some how it all got obliterated leaving only guthix and his mastery of balance and nature

He could have gone ahead to Gielinor before bringing his troops there and was noticeably (spelling?) more powerful than Guthix, which would explain why it is that Zaros sounds familiar to Guthix. He could have heard of him, but forgot all abou him.

I'm fairly sure I read somewhere that Zaros came into Gielenor after Guthix went to sleep. Also, Erichermit is right, Guthix is just a little bit more powerful than Zaros, and THE most powerful God. Furthermore, I do not think Seren is one of the elder gods, because when Guthix awoke at the end of the Third Age and ended the Godwars, he commanded all the Gods to leave Gielenor and only battle in the God Realm. Seren was forced to do so too, which implies that Guthix was more powerful.

This is a classic example of how history gets warped to such a great extent that when we finally discover the truth, we almost refuse to believe it.

The Zaro part was just a guess, really.

Seems like you have got yourself a rather big project. Good luck, you will need it. I look forward to reading this though.

My own theory is that Runescape wasn't created by any specific God- it had always been here. Various God's found it and created matter or brought creatures onto it. In fact, I think nothing was created by any of the known God's (except Serena and the elves). Besides Human's being brought to this plane by Guthix, we also know that goblins were brought here by Bandos. So maybe none of the races were created here, but were implanted.

Runescape history is like advanced science. A new thing comes up and everything gets reconsidered.

 

 

 

What I really wanna know though is:

 

 

 

WHERE THE HECK DID THE HUMANS COME FROM?!

 

 

 

I mean, they came through the Portal over a period. But from where? Who'd created the portal? Was it Guthix? What sort of world was the one they came from? And to top it all off:

 

 

 

Can we visit that place?

Watch, everything is going to unravel and we will learn that this is all a big South Park Easter Egg where everyone was brought together for the entertainment of others. :lol:

Before we can understand what/who the possible candidates of the elder gods are, maybe we should find the correct order the gods appeared in runescape? With this we can have a better understanding on what can actually create a world.

 

 

 

I do have a radical thought, what if there are no more Elder Gods, that when they created the world they split into the gods we know today? Like one Elder God, when he created runescape he split into Guthix, Zaros and Armadyl.

 

 

 

Armadyl HAS to be very powerful, HIS staff transfered some of Zaros power's into Zamorak thus transforming him into a god!

 

 

 

Another theory is that the older the god, the more powerful he/she/it is, which would mean that it would be like the following:

 

Note I do not know the correct order, just a ruff estimate. I also say that Zaros and Armadyl are equals because Armadyl's Staff pretty much did everything but kill Zaros.

hummm... i think I read somewhere in a quest that Zaros came with the Mahjarrat from another plane, and with them brought dragon weapons and armor. Although that may have just been me getting confused.

 

 

 

But if it was true, maybe there was the original (first) Godwars in the God realm, and Guthix snuck off quietly to Gielinor with the human race just so that the whole world would not be gone. After Zaros and Armadyl got tired of battling one thought, 'hey, wtf is Guthix?' so then they found Guthix and Gielinor, and were angry at him for making a whole new world, but then they started fighting again because they had not actually finished the battle yet.

 

 

 

But then I forget where Sardomin comes in. Does Zaros keep fighting until he kills (or severely weakens) Armadyl so that it leaves to the God realm, Then fights the followers ( that include Saradomin?) and then the whole betrayal of Zamorak and most of the Mahjarrat. I want to be able to go back in a quest and change the betrayal part of history in which side we want. ( not just good and bad, but by what god wins, ie; if you choose Guthix, he finds an object that makes him even more omnipotent than he already is and seals off the gods before Zaros can die, and severely weakens him, which would give you access to Balanzmajicks, which would be like ancients or lunar spellbooks only you use different spells based on your surroundings, or if Armadyl won, you would unlock it's ancient sky-city of the Avians. Of course everyone would want to unlock everything, so maybe you could, in a freaky time-warp-not-so-much-unlike-rfd-kinda-thing. That would be pretty darn sweet : )

 

 

 

But of course, why am I typing so much for this topic? My post is on the second page, no one shall ever read it muahahahaha... :(

I think its too early to even worry about RS's history...too many gaps. And I was actually quite surprised to see something like this and excited to read through the whole history since half the stuff I cannot remember. Nice to know that you have completed 1% of it. It would be nice if you waited...
