Transfering wealth

Featured Replies

A question earlier today got locked when a player was asking about transfering his money to his brother. After reading through the Jagex rules twice I was confused. As long as I am on a seperate computer than my friend or family member what rule would I be breaking by repeatedly trading or dropping items-money under 3k in value. I realize this would be slow and tedious, but I think it is acceptable under Jagex's rules. Am I wrong, and if so could you tell me precisely which rule I would be violating. Thanks.

Jagex considers this Real world trading

There's technically nothing wrong with doing an unbalanced trade. Transferring money to one of your own accounts is against the rules as it's classified as an unfair advantage, but trading it to someone else is legal. It's a bit of a loophole as, while it goes against the idea of the balanced trade system, the written rules only state that trading items for real world money or services is forbidden. And if you're just trading 3k at a time to a family member that isn't at all against the rules.

no they don't. Why would they? look under their rules under real world trading and look at their definition:

Game items must only be exchanged for other items/services within the game. Exchanging game items for items or other benefits in other online games, real-life money or other real-life benefits is not allowed.

Mentions nothing about giving money to family members, you just cant sell/recieve real world benifits for it.

This is considered as the same old rule of drop trading. I know it's hard not to want to be able to transfer money or items, but the whole reason that Jagex put the 3k drop rule into effect was to prevent EXACTLY THAT.

Yes this is against the rules, and falls under the category of Real World Item Trading. Doing this puts you at a very high risk of repercussions against your account including blackmarks or even your account being banned.

That doesn't seem to be against any rules in my opinion...but that does not mean that you won't get penalized. I suggest that you don't risk it.

The whole reason for making the 3k drop limit is to stop people drop trading.

JaGEx left it at 3k so random items of little worth etc can still be seen, but nothing that would make a real impact.

So drop trading is against JaGEx rules, regardless of the amount.

spacescenev24.jpg

It might be against rules. It's a gray area, but it's a bad thing to speculate...

I would rather go with what the Mod said. I know its frustrating not being able to drop trade anymore but we all live with it. Jagex have these rules for a reason and that reason is to protect our accounts from hackers. Its much harder for a Hacker to steal 1mil now and its better that way. And besides, isnt it much more fun to earn your money rather than just transfering your wealth from one account to another? Money earnt is alot sweeter than money won...

No where in Jagex's rules does the phrase "drop trading" occur. That being said, I have no doubt that if someone spent several hours continually dropping 3k in coinage for someone else that Jagex would take offense. I don't think there are many people out there that would want to spend their time doing that. Certainly a real world trader would not do it, for their profit in the real world would be pitiful. Jagex does state that it is acceptable for two accounts that share the same home address to trade with one another (rule 8 part 5 under multiple log-ins). After hearing people's opinions I am still convinced that gifting small amounts of cash to family or friends is still acceptable under Jagex's rules, within reasonable limits. (ALthough I am not encouraging anyone to do this in case I am mistaken). I can't see how giving 3k to a friend's new character would seriously undermine the game.

Jagex would take offense. They would see it as player trying to find loop holes to show them that the players are smarter than jagex. If players continue doing this Jagex might just spite us back and decrease the trade limit to 0.

I don't see how Jagex could take offense. They created their new trade system where I can give 30k every 15 minutes to some stranger with a sob story who is begging for money. How to giving 3k to a non member whom I actually know be more offensive that giving away 30k to some stranger who just died. I don't think this is exploiting a loophole.

I guess you would be obtaining an unfair advantage, because a family member is rich and willing to give you stuff. But really, it shouldn't break any rules. Proceed at your own risk though, Jagex can be touchy about that sort of stuff, and automated replies are given out more often than genuine responses to appeals.

I thought drop trading was near impossible now? Only if it was under 3k, and what would you need to drop trade between accounts that is worth less than 3k? The time spent breaking the rules you could easily make that money in a legit format on your account.

vcl_loss.jpg

Of course you can give people your trading limit for free...

If you couldn't I bet they would have built something that didn't even allow it in the game.

That is wrong in many a way. They didn't put the limit on to stop drop trading. The limit does nothing towards drop trading. If anything it encourages it. The 3k limit is to stop real world trading.

The 3k limit isn't actually to stop family members giving there money and stuff to other players. If they wish to donate something then there is nothing wrong with it. The fact that you can't do this any more is an unfortunate, unavoidable bi-product of stopping really world trading.

It is perfectly legal, under the conditions that

-The two accounts are on different computers

-The two accounts are owned by separate people and are not shared

-You don't try to bypass the trade limit (junk trading is still allowed though)

-No real-world items or services are exchanged

It might be against rules. It's a gray area, but it's a bad thing to speculate...

There is NO gray area here. It IS against the rules to do any form of drop trading, or any form of avoiding the trade limits set by Jagex. If you attempt to get around these, you are breaking Rule 2: No Real world trading If you attempt to trade items from one of your accounts to the other your are breaking Rule 8: No Multiple Logging.

I don't know what "mod" said that, but it's perfectly fine if your willing to deal with a million people asking you for 3k... Personally I ignore all requests like that. It's 3k...they can't go chop some wood and get that in about 2 seconds?

very true,, they gave a 3k limit, you can just trade him 3k every time and so, but drop trading is against the rules my friend, it is considered as a RWT method

It is bull... Since when was that EVER a rule? If it was against the rules, why would they even let us do it in the first place? It's perfectly legal to give someone money for free, as long as you aren't circumventing the trade limit somehow.

This is true. To answer the first question, yes you can do that, as long as you follow the things above in the quote, you won't get banned, and you aren't doing anything against the rules.

EDIT: I don't know why the quotes won't work. -.- I tried hiding the other ones so there wouldn't be so many, and then the hides wouldn't work either. If some mod wants to fix this feel free. :P
