justcallmedaddy
Swinging a baseball bat taking 50+ cuts a day or every other day produced some nice results for me, especially in actually playing baseball. I took swings with a heavy wooden one, and was amazed at how much lighter the aluminum/ fancy titanium bats felt. Also...jumping on a trampoline makes my legs stronger, and I jump for fun with people, not trying to get stronger. : Edit: I was swinging at either a ball on a rope thing that swings back around or hitting off a tee into a net, not just swinging at nothing. rangeor
What would you guys say the best way to get a six pack is? I've been doing crunches for about a year and a half now, increasing every night (though sometimes I would forget/not have time..), and I still have nothing. And I recently found out that crunches are bad for getting a six pack, so I switched to doing situps on a decline every day. (i'd do crunches on my floor). Will this work? Or is there something better? Crunches for a year and a half? Oh trust me, you have some good abs. Problem is, you won't really see them until you get your body fat down to ~12%. So you need a good diet and plenty of cardio to burn off the fat that's covering your beautiful abs ;) Oh, alright :P and I realized that I don't have nothing but it's more of like it's kinda taken shape, there's a line down the middle and kinda 2 are forming at the top, but that's it :P

Just keep up with your crunches, throw in some other abdominal exercises (for lower abs/sides of abs), get a good diet going, and some cardio and you'll have a great set of abs that all the ladies will love ;) Internet Marketing For Newbies
assassin_696
Any one got small protips on squats and deadlifts? With squats, you've got to get your [wagon] to the floor if you want to see results. That utilises the full range of motion for your leg and is damn harder than those slight knee bends that seem to pass for squats with a lot of people. Don't just drop either, make it a smooth and controlled descent then an explosive squat up. But if the weights are heavy enough an explosive pushup won't be particularly fast. I'm not sure what tips I can give with deadlifts, just make sure when you're stood straight you don't throw your shoulders back too violently, I pulled a muscle in my upper back once doing that. With a lot of exercises I'd say once you've finished all your 10 rep perfect form sets, feel free to throw in a lower rep set maybe with slightly sacrificed form, just to push your maximum. However with deadlifts I really wouldn't recommend that, make sure you're always lifting a weight that's not straining you. You can build your back with lots of other exercises to improve your deadlift maximum, but go too heavy with deadlifts and you might pull something badly and won't be lifting anything for a while. In fact, I'm pretty sure some middle school kid wrote it. Slit your wrists now or get rid of all the crap about getting girls and showing off. Not all girls are attracted to big muscles and nothing else. You've got some serious growing up to do if you really think that's all there is to getting a girl. MoeSzyslak
Well I hope when you say "I drink a lot of milk," that it's skim milk. 2%-whole milk certainly doesn't "do a body good". 35% of it's calories stem from fat (2% milk), and 50% (whole). My goal is to gain weight. I don't mind if I end up putting on a small amount of fat (thats pretty inevitable if I want to gain weight anyway). It's suggested to avoid milk if you're looking to lose weight however.

Lenticular_J
I joined track, and I've started eating a little healthier I think, and I've gone from 140 to 125 since the start of school. Really just losing fat in my legs and putting on muscle in my stomach, legs, and arms. Just hints. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

BlueLancer
http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/eating_made_simple.htm You dont have to gain weight when on the bulk. ;) The entire point of bulking is gaining weight... Man, this thread is kind of funny. The article does argue the bulking part of bodybuilding can be left out though, I don't disagree with that seeing as I've never personally used bulk seasons like a few other guys at my gym, it's worth a read. Just whatever you find more comfortable. At my gym there's a black padded thing that you can put round the bar so it's not as uncomfortable, but it's not always available. As long as it's not on your neck you should be okay, I find my lower traps slightly fleshier and so a bit more comfortable but you'll soon find where you want it. Well, the point of the article is to say that you can gain mass, ie. weight, but not the fat, therefore eliminating cutting for months at a time, and look good all year long. Its basicly clean bulking, which is better for your body, however its not the optimum method of putting on muscle. Some individuals have their diet down to perfection, so they look like contest shape all year, i wish i had the drive and knowledge they do. jackattack
Think a coxswain's a short, but lanky person. But not sure. It's reb. It's the small person on the rowing team. I weigh like 150 now; I'd need to drop like 30 pounds to be able to be a coxswain, and with like 2% body fat that could be kind of hard :x . mrpez
i just started training with my friend who has been on the swim team for years. such better workouts now than when i trained alone. someone else on this thread mentioned they are a swimmer so here is the workout we usually do: 3 sets 200m freestyle as fast as you can. (no more than 1-2 minutes in-between sets) 2 sets 500m freestyle close to top speed. 10 sets 25m freestyle as fast as you can, back-to-back, 10-15 seconds in-between sets. 1 set 250m breastroke, top speed. you can add on if you want. specifically what will get you much faster is the 10 sets 25m with 10 seconds in-between. as you get better you can increase the sets and decrease the time you rest. - also, why have no moderators replied to my request to have a 'working out' sticky? at least give a definite answer instead of just ignoring the question. its worth a sticky and there will always be valuable discussion and advice to give. (if "post a picture of your destop!" is a sticky, i dont know why this cant).

A lot of lifters say the foam pad is for sissies. I think it's best to get used to a naked bar because it's better to have that weight real close to your body so you can feel it, and know you're ready for it. As you mentioned earlier about people doing half squats, I agree. I saw some kid today (who is kinda big) load up 180 lbs. on the bar (making it about 220 total, a moderately heavy weight, especially for an initial set...) then proceed to doing awful looking half-squats. In fact, not even half, less than half. Looked pretty bad :-# Squat form is tough... if anyone wants to try squats out, I suggest researching articles/vids and try to execute like they tell you to. Having someone who is experienced at the gym help you out would be better...
