September 1, 200817 yr Well when it comes to Pregnant women they can work in front of computer monitors and have no risk to the child. Plus as a baby develops further the risks of Teratogens become less and less. Reason for relevancy: Teratogens (Smoking, Alchohol, etc.) = Bad for Pregnant Mothers Computer Monitors and other low radiation emitting devices = Not bad for Pregnant Mother Runescape = Computer Monitor radiation Runescape = Not bad for Pregnant mother. In regards to sitting around with moving only your arm and fingers to control mouse and keys that's a different story. Improper posture can lead to nasty back injuries as well as a hunched back from slouching. Obesity can be a result as well. If there is a minimum of exercise in someones lifestyle as well as improper food choices (i.e. McDonald's Hamburgers for Lunch and Dinner, accompanied by empty-calorie (lacking carbohydrates or protein) foods) then this person will be in great trouble. Keep in mind though that there are some "Professional" gamers that spend most of their day in front of a computer screen and maintain relative physical fitness. This could easily come from a balanced diet and exercise. You can't Pwn nubs if you don't get your wheaties in the morning ;)
September 1, 200817 yr Don't see how Runescape has anything to do with this :? Lowgravity, I want to be just like you. But...I never will be as 1337 as you. :(

September 1, 200817 yr As for vision problems, jagex encourages us to take a break every hour or so, and any eye damage can be fixes through a minor surgery. You have a very lax position on surgery (which is definitely intriguing)! I would be devastated if I "required" surgery also can you really call any surgery "minor" it's still an intricate process that takes years of schooling and observation before they even let you into the operating room... Nonetheless I've known office professionals who spend their entire day in front of a computer monitor and have no visible degradation of eyesight aside from a bit of "eye fatigue" by the end of the day. Being somewhere near an open window can help out a lot. Focusing on the computer can "bore" your eyes so stimulate them with a greater amount of the light spectrum!
September 1, 200817 yr i guess if u play for 3 days straight there may be a problem, but i take breaks from runescape.
September 1, 200817 yr By all means its not "Good" for your health, I mean you are sitting at a computer for hours on end. Its a matter of, what are you doing while not playing? If you go to school/work/some activity then get home and play a couple hours of RS I see nothing wrong in that. But if you sit around for hours on end, it wouldn't be the best for you.
September 1, 200817 yr Everything is bad for you if not taken in moderation. Even water can kill you if you drink too much of it, or if the air you breath has too much oxygen in it. This topic has been talked to death, do we really need another "omg runescape can ruin ur lyfe?" thread?
September 1, 200817 yr What's this about pregnant mothers playing RuneScape? I know pregnancy causes cravings but I never thought any of those cravings were playing computer games all day. Computer screens have low radiation, I don't think spending a few hours a day in front of a computer will have any affect on your health (from radiation I mean). This might have been a debatable issue some 10 years ago but now we have digital screens and there's really nothing to worry about. You talk about playing too much to "ruin your life", and while too much of anything isn't good I don't think it would go that far. The worst that could happen is that your social life suffers a bit, it's not that hard to click the log-out button after all. ;) Pretty much what Dragon said.Thread terminated.I guess that means I'm the thread Terminator? No Tip.Iters were harmed in the making of this post.

There was once a guy who played on his computer for 24 hours nonstop and died of fatigue. It's a damn miracle that nowdays people can go for a week on their computer nonstop without even being minorly sick. Death should not be taken as 'the end,' but a very effective way to cut down taxes.
September 1, 200817 yr Don't see how Runescape has anything to do with this :? Omg that was like the most creative post I've ever seen! [/sarcasm] there are better ways to make yourself look like a smartass. OT: play in moderation. taking breaks, showers, and eating when you need to can easily maintain your hygiene no matter how long you play runescape. most players are capable of that. also, what does benefit mean in your definition? sure, runescape can get tedious at some point, but we can take pride into what we achieve.
September 1, 200817 yr RuneScape doesn't create the problems. The players create their own problems. (No self-control, etc.) ^ Blog.
September 1, 200817 yr OT: play in moderation. taking breaks, showers, and eating when you need to can easily maintain your hygiene no matter how long you play runescape. What about good old sunshine and fresh air? Or actually talking to people? Or developing a work ethic in the real world? Or actually making a living for yourself? You're not getting any of those sitting on RuneScape all day. Can you honestly define such a lifestyle as socially healthy? It's barely physically healthy (CTS, arthritis, obesity, eye sight problems are all still possibilities given the lifestyle you just described)! | Favourite Game Music | Last.fm | HYT Friend Chat Rules |

September 1, 200817 yr RuneScape is a highly addictive substance. Therefore, many "players" find it mentally stimulating, bad for their mental and physical health, as well as being incredibly hard to quit. That answers your question.
September 1, 200817 yr Isn't Plasma screens suppose to reduce Eye Damage?? Depends really, does get to the point where RS is just interrupting your life style? Does it become a pormblem in your social life? If you answer yes to those questions then yeah, it is harmful. Wongton is better than me in anyway~~
September 1, 200817 yr Lol umm psychologically it's bad because people keep being mean to you (the awful community).. and physically it's bad because you're not moving at all which stacks up a lot after a while, you gain weight, your spine is not well positioned. It doesn't make much difference studies-wise, since most ppl would just be playing the xbox or watching tv if they don't play RS. I think the whole vision thing with computer screens is a myth, you should be fine if you take some breaks to relax your eyes and look at objects that are far. Because looking at close objects is straining for the eyes because they need to keep focussed, looking at stuff that is far relaxes the eyes, so you need to take a break a relax your eyes once a in while, but other than that, computer screens don't kill eyes. Umm, I think they sell "computer glasses" nowadays, they block the light from computer screens so that your eyes don't get as much tired.

September 1, 200817 yr <-- Source <-- I'm a rather safe guy. Another person says that he spent 3 hrs on comp and 4on TV, parents said nthing on the TV. Well, When you're at the comp you're jsut about 10 inches away from te monitor. computers give off mro radiation than TVs, and you're alwas sitting further away when ou're watcing TV. Also, not only about health. you can't control what the TV does, and can't view TIF on your TV (unless it's hooked up to your computer). in computers, tere are bad sites that mae change in your brain becuase yo view too much of it or something, and that affects your real life behviour. if your parent are conceerned about radiation, ask them to go to a computer store to buy a screen for your computer... I can't really get a better name: It's this frame taht you connect to some metal with a hook and the computer screen gives off less radation. Also, if possible, make your computer screen furter away from you, only have yor keyboard and mouse connected close to you, and get the keyboard/mouse as far away frm your screen. if you have the frame I mentioned earlier and you computer screen 4 times it's hieght away from you, your computer gives off less radiation then a mini-TV!  talk to yor parents and ask them, what they're stil concerned about. I'm not a parent, and I'd say notto be at your computer for over 5 hours a day. when I was 11, I sat at teh computer, once for 1 hour, once for 2 hours. teh 2 hours felt muh better then the 1 hour, but then I sat for 3 hour, it felt a little btter, then 4 hours. 4 ours for me was little better than 2 hours. ok, I just drained half my brain of it's knowledge. time to go get a drink and fill taht gap with TIF/RS knowledge =DDDDDDDD  \ =D> Death should not be taken as 'the end,' but a very effective way to cut down taxes.

September 1, 200817 yr Radiation from CRTs is virtually nil. None at all from an LCD. In my business, I spend roughly 10 hours a day at the computer, almost every day. My 20\20 vision is just that. I have a faint touch of nearsightedness which I have always had but has not been worsening. I use good posture, and as such have never had any trouble with RSI or back problems. I'm in good shape and under-average weight, get plenty of exercise, and eat well. Physical risks from using a computer are virtually zero when common sense is used. Psychological damage from Runescape may be possible, but would be very hard to identify, and could only be proved through extensive research studies. I'm not worried.
