A few months back, I made a post about Runescape 2 is dying (1 got killed). That topic was made shortly after the December 10 updates. Denial that Runescape is dying was very high back then, and I'm assuming still is now. It got deleted because of rollback.

 

 

 

Now on to the current topic.

Lol. Be REALISTIC. There were like 100 to 300 bots on each f2p world before dec 10. many p2p worlds were excluded. few bots in p2p. back then, there were like 150 worlds total (p2p and f2p), so there were only 9k to 10k active bots. still 50k players

I know you took the numbers from max vacations, but still school affects a lot of people even when they aren't in it. Parents get stricter and there are also more weekend jobs taken by kids in high school and college.

Notice on Alexa that nice traffic skyrocket that showed up like 3 days ago...

You want to get realistic? Alright, I can play that game.

 

 

 

First of all, your inference that P2P worlds were excluded is incorrect. In fact, the blunt majority of players that complained about the sheer number of bots were members, probably because that's the only class of players allowed on the RSOF. So, that means, if you're right on the number of servers back then (I cannot recall), there were between 15K and 45K bots on at any given time.

 

 

 

Second, did you forget the massive display of immaturity by the community? A lot of players took off, and the official number which is floating around is around 6% of the member populace, not including any freeplayer accounts (although I'm willing to believe that only 1% of freeplay accounts took off). I'll get you a source on that the second I find it, but I at least believe it to be true.

 

 

 

Third, you also have to account for the number of pures that can't fight in BH. I know mine can't, so I don't play on them much anymore. If they're not on, that will naturally bring down the number of players on at any given time (and you can bet that for every player online now, they have between them 2 to 5 accounts).

 

 

 

Lastly, perhaps some of the players had better things to do this summer vacation. It isn't like everyone's going to spend their waking moments of a break on RuneScape, y'know. I sure didn't this past week that I got off, thanks to the DNC; I used that time to finish up two Java programs.

 

 

 

If you're going to make such silly inferences about this, you'd better be prepared to back it up with thorough logic. Just because some graph on some site said RS's popularity was slinking doesn't mean everything; you have to find reasons for it. And I believe that I did.

yea rs has took a tremendous loss after deleting the old wilderness which was a terrible update imo. I do agree that RWT was a problem and that it should've been stopped, but taking it out without putting legit replacements is just suicidal. I mean i good community of rs is pkers. just look at the falidor chaos. especially in f2p. f2p really has no source of entertainment. who wants to level mining and all these skills. wats the point. its not like there is that dragon set u can wear after ur rune. in f2p there is no variety and minigames so the real source of entertainment is pking. From wat i can remember f2p worlds had 1400ppl now u see 700ppl. wat happened to the half? :ohnoes:

 

 

 

Replacing a bs bh which was chaos and not even updated clan wars, f2p has nothing. fog was like a iou gift but that doesnt cut it.

Well looking at it on a broad scale, I can say a couple possible real life reasons.

 

 

 

-You can say that a lot of college students play RuneScape and many of them probably have limited action on campus

 

-A lot of people want to do their first homework assignments to start with a good grade \ and hang out with friends they haven't seen. It's only natural.

 

 

 

Now on to some RS reasons.

 

 

 

-The market is crashing right now. The end of summer waterfall effect is wreaking havok on the GE. People put their stuff in at min in order to not lose money, and have nothing to do on RS since everything is sold.

 

-There are no good updates coming out. The quest and minigame took an hour tops if you had the firemaking level. We now have dancing penguins and a circus. Forgive people if they fail to care about those relative to PvP worlds...

 

-Clan Wars has been delayed so long that many people forgot about the pictures and just don't care much.

 

-RuneScape has never been so "boring." People played all day every day all summer and got bored; now they have something new to spend time on. Plus a lot of other games are coming out this fall and winter season for consoles.

 

 

 

It'll pick up a little bit as the year goes on I think.
