So... when players start leaving a game like rats from a sinking ship, it doesn't reflect on the game's health? Not that I'm saying this is happening with Runescape players.

 

 

 

I don't think Runescape is dying, but it is in decline. Jagex promising updates that never materialize, or don't do so until long after they're promised, updates being posted months in advance just to tantalize players into becoming payers, and "gimmicks" like that front page update about being in the Guiness Book of World Records (Gamers Edition). Add to this that their CS is STILL poor, they've officially called Runescape a game for all ages, and that one of their own executives referred, in an official interview, to Runescape as a "junior" MMORPG, well, it looks like the community, if not the game itself, is in for a downward spiral.

There was fallout from the anti-RWT measures, yes, but things have more or less remained steady (according to the graphs) from mid-January to mid-June (when most 'scapers are in school). If the page visits & everything were continuing to absolutely tank during that time then yes, I'd have to agree with you. However, things have pretty much stabilized over the last few months and things aren't going to get worse from this point on (aside from the natural effects of people returning to school). In other words, RS has kinda stagnated, maybe, but it certainly doesn't look to be on its death bed and all of the damage has already been done.

 

 

 

Growth will resume when the game is bailed out by the next generation of players who'll have no knowledge of the original wilderness anyway AND by the release of the new pking worlds; Runescape will, by the end of the 08-09 winter vacation, surge past the levels it was at prior to the December 07 updates (assuming pking worlds are here by then).

Till they take "runescape.com" off of the internet, then it's still alive. Less people work in offices these days, to conserve gas, so does that mean office work is dying? Less people drive these days, so is driving dying? Less people make stupid posts these days, but it's obviously not dying.

Since you quit why are you still in the forums. Since you stop playing you don't have to follow the game and bother us with you ideas.

As far as I'm concerned, those 60k plus people that quit were bots and hardcore PKers. Nice post, stats and junk and pic ;) But when you said you wanted us to quit in a reply, I stopped listening. I'm not going to quit if somone shows me fancy charts and hot girls. I like the game, and I'm not at all convinced that it's dying.

You seriously under estimate the number of bots that were in the game 100 - 300 is way off per world. When you take into consideration all the bots in the general stores and specialist stores, at every yew and willow location, at all fishing spots and mining spots (and remember they were at times creating 30 in one hit). Personally I think 300 - 600 is closer to the mark. The fact that they also had bots killing dragons suggests that there were also bots being trained in f2p for this skill too and yet I never saw one of these. I wonder how many other types I never saw.

I really don't see this massive decline in numbers, especially when you consider that 60k members, bots and otherwise, quit.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Perhaps I'm blind, show me where the big decline in the past few months is.

It just means that 60k players were only playing for pking or w/e.
