Like "JUSTIN BIEBER NAKED?!?!?!" and the thumbnail is a picture of Jusin Bieber on a bright green background and the vlogger making a stupid face. Saru Inc
Dude. No offence (honestly) but at you're age you shouldn't make such rash decisions that will affect your whole life. At least give it some thought, I know atheism is whats cool these days, but still. When you're around 12-18 you don't know that much. What if you were to go to a Christian school, or an Islamic school if you were converted? And to say that you're religion doesn't affect your friends is ludicrous. Note, I'm not saying it should or shouldn't, thats another debate, but the fact is for the vast majority it does. (Whether it affects you or me is irrelevant.) And while it may not have an impact on your job (unless you go to the extremes like assassin or porn maker) it still has a very big impact on your life, because it is a way of thinking that impacts most of what you do. Skull
I'd say you're just as likely to murder someone if you're religious as if you're not. Most members of violent gangs are also extremely religious, so killing people certainly isn't limited to atheists. Not that that was your main point at all. For the sake of the argument though, if you become an atheist, chances are that you weren't super religious to begin with. That means you probably aren't losing friends from church and you probably don't attend a religion specific school. And if your friends stop being friends with you because you're an atheist, then they're d-bags that you're better off not being friends with anyways. Personal experience time: When I decided (realized?) I was an atheist I lost no friends, I gained no friends, and I didn't change my morals. The only difference is that I don't expect sky cake for being a good little boy. I could understand how if you were to become an atheist you would probably change as a person since you seem like you're pretty into the whole religion thing. However, the reason why that doesn't make it true is because you're unlikely to ever stop believing in a God. There's no reason to use people who it will never happen to as an example, because I'm sure the Pope's life would change if he were to convert, but it will never happen. Anyways, I'm sure none of that makes sense, my head feels like someone hit me with a baseball bat 100 times and I can't think clearly at all. Which is probably why I took the time to type this up. Romy
To add to that, I'm an atheist, that only has about 2-3 friend in real life that fit that description aswell. The rest are religous, very religous, or at the very least, believe in God. My parents taught me morals, where they got from their parents (they weren't very religious neither). Our society is based on Christian values, so the "correct" set of morals comes from the Bible. But that doesn't mean you have to be religious to learn it. If religious affects everything you do, then you might be a bigot. Other than in Church, I don't see how believing in Jesus or Mohammad could affect you in any way. As a society we all have similar morals, so religion is useless at that. Just be an atheist, whoever started this whole thing. You can change your mind later...but I doubt it. "The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is." Christianity/religion doesn't make anyone bigoted, human nature makes us bigoted. Geez this forum needs to get that in their head. Btw, I like that factual statement saying we are taught the moral by our parents? I share only one moral with my parents, I don't approve of abortion. Thats it. And just because you can't see it doesn't mean we should suffer from your myopic outlook. Fun fact: Mother Teresa renounced her religion close to death. (Well... ok technically she didn't fully renounce it, but she confessed to the Vatican she can't believe in a god that allows all of this bad crap to happen) And that's your opinion that changing a religion is easy, most likely I deduce because you don't consider the possible religions out there as have any basis (I guess I might be wrong), I for one, while firmly believe in Christianity (and I am sure I will never change my mind) I still wonder if the other religions have any basis. Now saying this doesn't weaken my faith in Jesus, as it wouldn't weaken your faith in the belief of nothingness, but if you keep your mind open you might grasp the impact of it. I've only heard of people flip flopping religions like in satiric tv comedies. Edit: I'm not saying there's anything bad with believing religion has little impact, I'm simply debating differing opinions. Napalm
Saruman, some posts above you admited to having stolen over $4000 from your parents. You also say that you believe in Jesus, and therefore I assume you believe in the 10 commandments, one of which is "thou shalt not steal" (or something among the lines). If being religious -in your case, christian- changed your morals, you wouldn't have done that. You find it morally acceptable to steal, directly contradicting the christian moral.
