I used to really love paper planes, I still have some books on them. :D I had a design that was nearly perfect. (It went perfectly straight and was stable, but it didn't go fast enough)

And then there was this paper swan plane that had like 30 steps. It took me forever to build, had a million little details, and obviously therefore looked like a piece of crap when I built it. It looked so nice in the book. :(

There is nothing better to talk about I guess?

Anyways some guy hit my german teacher on her arm with one and she ran out crying

But we had been 'bullying' her for a year anyways.

It has been a while since I made my last one, but it was the funniest one ever. i attached little fireworks rockets to it and it went quite fast actually(I threw it out of my attic). It got across the street before it bursted in flames.

Meh, it's been kind of slow around here lately.

Anyways, I used to love making paper planes. I used to spend a week with my grandparents every year (while my parents were away on business) and I would make tons of paper airplanes while I was there. Basically covered their kitchen floor one time :)

That, and I think that this is actually a quite interesting topic, makes a nice change to talk about something less serious for once.

Agreed. We need a few "just for fun" topics around here.

The wise words of M.I.A.

I fly like paper, get high like planes

If you catch me at the border I got visas in my name

If you come around here, I make 'em all day

I get one down in a second if you wait

Haha that's exactly what I thought of when I read the title of the topic :P

Paper planes are the ultimate weapon for hitting targets of choice in class. I just go for the standard plane, as I usually don't have time to make one of the more technical planes.

My relaxation method involves a bottle of lotion, beautiful women, and partial nudity. Yes I get massages.

Same. Everyone was looking at me funny when I was jamming out to it during first period.

I'm not good at paper planes. Or folding in general.

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

stretchy rubber bands + strong paper planes (preferrably cardboard) = <3:

no, really, last time I tried it, it flew a long distance before it hit someone roughly...

Another model that I found some time ago is really a good one- try it!

I suck at folding paper in general. No matter how hard I try, it takes me about 20 folds before I can make the very first fold smooth enough to move on. A lot of complex paper plane designs need precision folding or the flight pattern will be off. I'm the kind of guy who's planes end up to be a messy folded disgrace to the art of paper folding, and usually acts like a ball of crumpled paper rather than a graceful flight machine during it's time in the air.

tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :(
But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities.
That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.

Apparently a lot of people say it. I own.

My friends make these crappy planes that have a point and look more like jets. They go fast but they suck at flying.

I actually took the time to learn how to make a decent design. The ones I make have flat noses and they fly for ages if you get a good take off.

During 4th Grade, my friend and I made a "business" that revolved around anything paper - comics, posters, trading cards, paper planes, etc.

Our main provider of our paper frenzy was our school - we would grab as much paper every day when the teacher restocked. After a few weeks, our teacher deemed us the "Paper Wasters" and even began making the Weekly Paper Wasters Report, wherein he would report on the status of paper and how us Paper Wasters needed to lessen our dependency on the school's paper to a restricted amount per week (which we never followed).

By 5th grade the "business" was pretty much done, though. 4th Grade was definitely the highlight of my school career.

Back on topic, though. We loved making paper planes, my friend actually showed me how to make one during 4th Grade, and with the newly obtained knowledge I would spend every day at home coming up with multiple new models to perform various tricks (i.e. barrel rolls, back-flip back to me). I stored all of my models in cabinets in our basement, but it eventually got to the point that I had so many paper planes that they were overflowing out of the cabinets and onto the floor. My mom caught notice of this and shortly made me throw away every paper plane I had ever produced. Sad ending to some fun times.

Paper airplanes are the only form of art I can succeed at. Though I remember when I was little, I cried because I couldn't make some complicated plane I saw in a book.

First grade, Chinese school...Our teacher would bring in stacks of origami paper and we would storm them and create armies. Of course, we didn't really know they were armies...But we tried to get them stuck on top of a hanging light, and when I did after a ton of tries, I was so happy. \'
