October 1, 200817 yr not saying this to compare games or anything but they should make things for RS similar to instances in wow. i know its prob a sin to say wow and RS imho is just as cool but i love the instances and think they should have something similar in RS
October 1, 200817 yr They're already making generated group/solo quests, it was announced in 2004. As for making RS more like WOW, they should be trying to make WOW more unique, like RS.
October 1, 200817 yr Author They're already making generated group/solo quests, it was announced in 2004. As for making RS more like WOW, they should be trying to make WOW more unique, like RS. are these group generated quests out? i havent heard of them (of course i am an on and off player) i didnt mean make RS like wow i think RS is great as is. i just liked the instances and how they work and thought it would be cool if RS had something similar
October 1, 200817 yr It would be cooler. But I'd probably just go off and play WoW if I wanted the instance/raid experience. Best keep RS separate/different from WoW so people don't start complaining (if they haven't already, lol). ^ Blog.
October 1, 200817 yr I think the idea of instances is actually very good, and could work well for RS. I'd like to see it implemented. It's been done in quests such as Swan Song and RFD. Why not on a larger scale? To put it bluntly, [bleep] off.
October 1, 200817 yr I'm not to familiar with WoW, but can you do a quick summary of these "instances"?
October 1, 200817 yr I'm not to familiar with WoW, but can you do a quick summary of these "instances"? Instances are pretty much party quests where you team up with 4 to 24 other people. You need lots of people to take down tougher bosses. The tougher the bosses, the more leet the drop is.

October 1, 200817 yr Dungeons, keeps, or other confined areas can have sub-areas called instance dungeons, or simply, instances. These instances are special areas in the World of Warcraft where your group or raid party is able to interact with a dungeon privately; that is, without interference from other parties or raids. The term instance has been often conflated and interchanged with the term dungeon. Instance dungeons tend to feature the most difficult and rewarding content, both in terms of enemies and items, but also in terms of level design. Getting through an instance requires a well-trained and well-balanced group of players who are of an appropriate level for the challenge. could be interesting...will reduce those crashers and stuff...more than twice i nearly died at dk due to crashers -.- maxed out melee on 10/10/08, current goal: 94/99 cookinglife may be unfair, but why can't it be unfair in my favor?my fake plant died because i forgot to pretend to water it
October 1, 200817 yr As long as RS don't make guns and stuff i'm fine with the way it is. I like the fact runescape is unique. I mean, I wouldn't want our characters to have glowing eyes and have warlocks and all that evil garbage (you don't need glowing eyes to look powerful, i'm sorry!) Take Castle Wars for example. RS could make a skill-based Castle Wars, where you could never underestimate level 3 skillers and such. With agility, you could climb the enemies tower and grab their flag with ease. For farming, you could plant vine seeds, watch them grow, and, whenever the enemy stands on them, they get entangled for, say, 30 seconds  just as an example. RS shouldn't be EXACTLY like WOW, but they can improve on things they've already made (yes I know, some people are about to harp on about that cliche phrase *why fix something that isn't broken* yeah, well sometimes things that aren't broken still need to be polished and upgraded) I guess what i'm trying to say is RS shouldn't be like WOW, but they sure could improve on things they've made. I for one would like a white lion as a summoning pet ;)

(was that an instance? i dont actually know tbh  ) Ye this could be a good addition to the game on the sounds of it but shouldn't really replace anything imo, Theres a fine line between not listening and not caring,I like to think I walk this line every day. Pinning blame on Jagex is like trying to put pants on an old man. You both know he needs them, but he'll just keep dancing around, avoiding them at all costs.
October 1, 200817 yr Wow i'm psychic, I predicted this thread would be WoW vs RS  Lowgravity, I want to be just like you. But...I never will be as 1337 as you. :(
October 1, 200817 yr They do already have a couple of "instances" (Fight Caves, Clan Wars, various quest areas e.g the spirit world.) What areas were you thinking they should change into instances? Bosses? Bosses in RS don't have to have a specialised, large team that can't cope with being crashed like those in WoW, bossing would - although being safer - be far more boring without the threat of crashers and having to find my own world. Also, if you're soloing there's a 99% chance that you won't get crashed. Thanks to Quarra for the awesome sig!Xbox360 Gamertag = Tintin113
October 1, 200817 yr Author Wow i'm psychic, I predicted this thread would be WoW vs RS  i didnt do this to compare or whatever. i just like the concept of the instances and would like a similar kinda thing in RS
October 2, 200817 yr ive never played wow nor seen anyone playing it but before wow ppl would bash rs ers by saying the graphics r bad. now they cant do that. rs and wow r similar but the theme is different. ppl tend to think that in rs its more skill grinding rather than fun etc.
October 2, 200817 yr RS - 1 WOW - 0 Of course they are going to be similarities, it's a MMORPG I am Teh_King[My dA][My Last.FM][My Twitter]
October 2, 200817 yr But seriously your saying to ruin RS basically. People like RS because it's different than most other MMORPG. It's like saying well the popular people are jumping off the Empire State Building so lets do it too for the fact that they are popular. October 2, 200817 yr LEEERRROOOYYY JEEENNKKKIINNNSSSS!!! But seriously, I've been thinking that RS is becoming TOO MUCH like World Of Warcraft lately, especially if you look at the interfaces etc. Runescape is better as a simplistic, classic game. I don't know why so many people urge Jagex to push it towards WoW, if you want to play that, go play it! As for "instances" - we don't need them. Join a team and go kill GWD bosses, or the KBD, Kalphite Queen, the new boss which I'm not familiar with, and many more. There is already a multi-team moster hunting availability there, we don't need to complicate Runescape anymore that it already is ;)
October 2, 200817 yr The problem is that RuneScape doesn't have the same 'class' system as other online games. In RS there is no true 'support class' which is common in other MMORPG's (MapleStories Cleric's for example). These instances which you want RS to emulate would cripple and fall within the game as they generally rely heavily on one class (healer) supporting and buffing the others (Damagers(generally the warrior Class)) with Longer ranged players whittling down hp from a distance. Although i'm an avid fan of the team based 'PvE' environments and a true support class person (healing, temperory buffing and the like) it just won't work within the game.

October 2, 200817 yr No, I wasn't impressed with WoW when I played it. If rs became more like WoW I'd quit... I mean I have 2 other alternatives + funorb. (Yes hard to believe someone played WoW and didn't like it isnt it.) Ponies!

You do have lunar mages who can transfer spec + hp to other characters as well as share potions ~Dan I was going to mention this but i forgot to add it: While the Lunar mage spells are supportive in a sense they aren't really AS 100% support role, they are mainly mixed with a form of damage output. What I meant was a pure 'healing' character whose sole purpose within the group is to help the others out (spam heal if you may). The main difference between the two is that other games have a for of magic casting that regens over time, so really it costs nothing to heal you teammates (it also has no negative effect on the caster) Although I really would like a tougher team based Fight caves.
