I can't do anything but agree with you. I have myself just posted on there twice, and both times to sell things I hadn't been able to sell in any other way.

Tif far exceeds rsof for post quality.

There's rarely any stupid whiners or ranters about an update. Sure we do get a few complaints about updates but they arrive maybe a week after the update when people have had a chance to evaluate it and even then they are thought out logical posts about the flaws rather than jsut omg it iz rooobish!!!!shiftone11!!1!

Anyone who claims tif to be as bad as rsof clearly does not use these boards and if they do has a very selective mind set.

Does tif get moronic posts like the rsof? yes, but alot less of them

Does tif get smart posts? yes and alot more of them than the rsof

The biggest difference however is marked in that all the moronic threads quickly filter down the pages as they are left largely reply less or are quickly locked as the posters are directed to the correct sticky or thread, leaving the smart well thought out and valuable discussions up top where as rsof anything remotely smart gets flamed and quickly lost under the swathes of moronic drivel where people just make threads about the same thing over and over none of which hold any true discussion value.

Yep! I can agree with this.....

Tip.it has, although probably less, morons than the RSOF. The only reason we hardly see them is because they get wtfbbqpwned by mods, or shown the light by other players, so all the nice threads are on the surface. You can probably see the difference.

A wrong forumed post in the RSOF goes something like this:

player 1: Hi, I'd like to buy XXXXXX item.

player 2: Hi, player 1, this is the wrong forum, please go to the Marketplace.

player 3: op is a noob! lol! wanna be mod!

All of the good posts are lost, mostly because that the morons post faster than the mods can lock. This is the way of the RSOF.

I've only ever made 3 posts, 1 to support a fellow Tip.iter's suggestion, which actually was quite good, 1 to query about the validity about something (which got deleted by a forum mod because "this is the marketplace, you talk about stuff, and only stuff you get to talk about here or i delete your posts") and the other was posted in response to a rant, which I disagreed on. All 3 posts were done in correct, and decent English, which I got promptly flamed for for "lol noob, trying to have pufect english so u can be mod".

Fair and just isn't it

amazing how much we value the freedom of speach until someone else exercises that right and says something we don't agree with. it degrades into a void of madness and oblivion, with well constructed ideals and opinions spiraling into a furious back of forth of i'm rights and you're stupids. yet we revere this right as a basic human necessity, a requirement of human communication, which leads to conflict and hate.

yet what would we do without this form of intelectual debate? save money on migrane medication du jour? have time to finally reach that elusive 99 stat? or leave runescape and go play a much better one player game?

as much as language is a bane in socieity, it is just as much a blessing. while we create enemies, we also create friendship. so the next time someone is irritating you, leave it best to ignore it, and share your wealth of information with your mental equals.

but oh man the rant forums gives you the best laughs.

seriously, read the topics there. ::'

a fool or a coward.

Whoever cannot take care of himself without that law

is both.

Just remember, RSOF could be 4chan. My eyes and brain have never recovered from 4chan.

   :-#

No-oo... 4chan is uncensored, correct? If the RSOF is THIS bad hugely censored with mods who sometimes care, imagine it without either!
If the CORPORAL beast is this hard, imagine how hard a GENERAL or COLONEL beast would be. a corporal is not even an admirable rank in armies that use that ranking system.

Yeah, it is a pking minigame, so any arguments anybody makes will probably be biased.

The best way this will end :Everybody just says,"I'm not arguing with you anymore, goodbye."

The worst way this will end: I don't really know, psychological warfare? Worldwide thermonuclear war? Pie eating contest?

The main cause is that forum mods are looked up on as gods of the forums. That's one of the biggest differences between TIF and RSOF -- we don't worship our mods. They're just users who keep the forums clean. But on RSOF, it seems to be that forum mods have an almost godlike aura. I used to see threads particularly in the old rants forum (which is now merged into the suggestions forum) where when a mod would support a rant and everyone would make a big deal out of it. The OP would edit his post and say "MOD SUPPORT PAGE 3!" etc. Players would make threads directly asking for mods and would complain when a normal player responded.

It was no help that players who worshipped these mods in turn became "WBMs" and would try to post the most mod-like way they could on a rule-breaking or spam thread hoping Jagex would notice and make them a mod. Then the non-WBM's flame the WBM's for being WBM's, the WBM plays the innocent unphased victim, and eventually a real mod comes in and tells everyone to cool it. It happened in every rant thread sooner or later. I guess thats why they got rid of the forum.

tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :(
But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities.
That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.

Apparently a lot of people say it. I own.

To be honest, the official forum has never been "smarter". I modded it for a while back when it was re-launched (RS did have official forums back in 2001 too, but they removed them for some reason) like 4 years ago. They first picked about 10-20 people to the duty, on the condition of retaining continuous membership.

I simply gave up because most of the duty consisted of locking posts from complete morons, that would either

1. Make personal threats to Jagex/it's staff if they got banned/muted

2. Post a complaint over and over hoping it will change the game

3. People that kept posting a "new feature" 3 weeks later

Not to mention the immature attitudes, grammar and language... You can't hate on them, because most of them are kids and *will* change when enough time has passed. Still it's more or less a cesspool if you like real discussions, that's where sites like tip.it/zybez/etc. can help.

Topic re-opened and moved.

Everyone please take note that this topic has been cleaned of all spam/flame/flame-bait/quotes of flame/etc, and I won't hesitate to clean the topic again if it descends into another flame war. The reason I have not locked this is because it would be unfair to punish the majority, for what are attacks between a small group.

The moderating team will now be looking over this topic: if you have nothing constructive to post, then simply don't post. If you're unsure of the reasons why you're post was removed, then feel free to check the rules of PM me.

Offline and unavailable.

In all honesty this entire thread should be locked...it's openly saying that users on the RSOF are stupid - which is no different than me saying "Tip.It Forums - The Stupidity is amazing", and a thread such as that would surely get locked would it not?

No, it probably wouldn't. Freedom of speech rules. As long as the post wasn't offensive and contained valid information, the mods should (and probably would) let it stay open.

I use the RSOF occasionally (though much less since 12/10 unleashed a wave of spammers even here). I would assume that most posters here have only gone a handful of times to the RSOF, or have just seen the 'Funny Forum Posts' thread, and are making a judgement solely off of that. There are intelligent threads buried behind the stupid ones, even here.

Seriously though, I'd agree with Madmanpur3's entire post.

  • 2 weeks later...
Some forums do have a good userbase though (... Stories)

Har har, noob stories. "The story of Bono the ultranoob" "When noobs collide" "Noobalot in Runescape" No thanks.

My only problem with RSOF is that there are threads randomly strewn all over those forums which reek of a lobotomy patient's "intelligence".
