Stephenswat
So when i was thinking about going to Aviansies today i remembered me and a friend of mine, both level 10, venturing through the dwarven mines and the black knight fortress, enjoying ourselves and picking up the occasional loot, mining the occasional ore and smelting a set of steel for the both of us. Well, i really really miss these times, RuneScape has changed, for the bad Now RS is only about training your skills and sitting at your PC all day cutting yews. All Jagex does now is raise the level cap and make new high-level content. They just leave the old behind to rott and make new ultra-money-making-techneques that turn RS into more of a monopoly then the oh so enjoyable game it once was. Now it has become bad to eat food whenever your at 50% health, its noob to run away from a fight your losing. Thats just stupid, this game doesnt play itself, dotn expect people to stand there and let you kill them. Lazy people, thats what RuneScape is forming around, lazy people! And then all these weapons and armor. You can buy ANYTHING, ANYTHING, you can have a whip at lvl 40 if you have enough cash, and then kick the heck out of other players that just play the game (with an adamantite longsword) and enjoy themselves, instead of skilling fletching all day long. Well, R.I.P RuneScape, i've enjoyed you greatly Put this in your signature if you like bagelsWII ftw!
X3EN
It is all about the attitude you have when playing. Sure, alot of people want to call someone else a noob, but still you can just ignore them and have fun. As I recently came back to rs after another year of not playing, I found out my all bank is worth 5 times (or more) less than it was, most people have at least lvl 60 in each skill and at least lvl 75 in combat skills. And, I just went for some questing, doing some skilling and combat when had an opportunity. It's still fun. SnWRifleman
Yeah, I used to, back in RSC, go into the BMI and just have a nice drink with my friends and talk. We would actually play the game for what it is, and not a stupid competition. Owned_Nex
Well, there are more people. In classic, it was a somewhat closed community. Not many people come and go. basiliko
Hear hear, it is hard to find someone of your age nowaday (those who do rarely have their mental age up to date). To me, Runescape is now a Scape O' Skills, but i still occasionally log on just to listen to its music albums and doing holiday events The Haraguroi Club: Where Yandere Thrive for Chopping
X3EN
If you remember the last two years in RSC, the community consisted of: 1) Scammers 2) PK pures, who insulted everyone else on first opportunity It might had been different on members worlds only, but anyway it's not a good example of what the community should be like. If skillers want to waste their time on getting 200m xp on each skill, let them. Eventually (you will increase chances if you ignore the auto world picker) you will meet people with attitude similar to yours. Will H
The game is only ruined if you allow others to ruin it for you. I do things how I want, and I do not constantly skill if I don't enjoy it. The only non-combat skill which I really have enjoyed is hunter, so I will level it to 70, and I will enjoy it. No matter what you do, you can not stop me from enjoying something. ~ W ~

Sad fact, but they shouldn't be playing. Persoanally, I have never been insulted by a pure before. I highly disaggree with your first statement. Luckily, the only time I was scammed when I didn't check the 2nd trade window (my fault only: 300 death runes lost), because I was accepting so much trades I just made it automatic (the infamous "i-put-cash-and-5-junk-items-and-accept-then-remove-cash-and-accept" scam). But the problem was that scamming was treated as a normal, even useful thing. About not being insulted by a pure... Have u been at least near wildy in those last two rsc years?!! Mylez
I have to disagree with what you're saying. Runescape has changed somewhat, but the old skills and styles of playing are still there. You chose to play how you want, and just because some players enjoy the game in a different way to you, doesn't mean Runescape is being ruined "without us noticing" However, I agree that RS has changed alot BUT I believe it's for the greater good. There's more freedom now than ever, a wide range of skills to dive into and many, many ways to enjoy the game overall. :D
AndyPandy
That feeling came from when everything in runescape felt new to you, when you didn't know what to do. Once you've been playing for a while, that feeling goes, because it's not new to you anymore. Runescape is not being ruined, we just don't find it new anymore. Think about when you first discovered what was at the end of your road when you were really young, the first time it was great, it was all new. When you went back for the fifth or sixth time, did it all feel as new and interesting? No. That is what you are experiencing with runescape, it's normal, happens to everyone in everyday life and in runescape. So don't let anyone tell you you're not worth the earth, These streets are your streets, this turf is your turf, Don't let anyone tell you that you've got to give in, Cos you can make a difference, you can change everything, Just let your dreams be your pilot, your imagination your fuel, Tear up the book and write your own damn rules, Use all that heart, hope and soul that you've got, And the love and the rage that you feel in your gut, And realise that the other world that you're always looking for, Lies right here in front of us, just outside this door, And it's up to you to go out there and paint the canvas, After all, you were put on the earth to do this, So shine your light so bright that all can see, Take pride in being whoever the [bleep] you want to be. Arixe
Maybe it hasn't changed as much as you think. Maybe it's just your attitude towards it has. I remember playing around with my friends back when I very first started playing. We would just run around and have fun, not a care in the world. We would admire the people with full rune (the best armor available back then) and would wish we had a set. But of course we were "miles" away from that 40 defence. I mean ~50k exp was a LOT. But we kept playing, and eventually that 40 defence was reached. And from there it wasn't just running around with friends. It was about getting that amazing armor. And with all the new armor that kept coming out, the rat race just kept getting longer and longer. Most people today are all about having the very best armor, but there are still those new players who haven't been corrupted into wanting the latest and greatest armor. They just want that full set of iron and their life will be complete (you remember those days when you first started right?)
basiliko
Yep, that was the good old days. I remembered the excitement in having my very first iron set, but i dont feel that same thrill anymore when i earned the rune set. Kellis
I remember that too, but I think that I've changed more than the game has. I still sometimes wander around instead of devoting hours to skilling. A chompy bird here, a sword smithed here, some mining, some random exploring and examining objects, fishing - it's all in your mind. If you take a break from your skill raising every now and then and just enjoy everything you can do, it's still a lot of fun.
compfreak847
You've changed, not the game. In the past two years, the community has gone uphill, especially after the wildy updates, although PVP worlds resulted in a slight downturn. Still, it's very easy to find friends - my list is always full - and the ignore\chat off options provide easy ways to deal with annoying people. Yes, as you grow more experienced, the thrill of discovery is rarer; but that can be replaced by other enjoyable pursuits, such as tough fights and extensive knowledge about certain parts of the game, which can be used to your advantage. There are more ways to have fun then wandering around figuring out what to do. dangerpowers
i would have to say tht rs has made a couple of falls in the past few years, The grand exchange-ruined free player to player merchanting But at the same time it regulated the EXTREMELY inflated economy(even though some prices are still rediculous hence the 200 mill for a p hat???) second trade window- lol i remeber when my friend and i used to pm each other telling the other of our latest scam of how we got millions off one person, but i got scammed a fair amount of times *flashes back* quote-yay addy plate body trimmed gold i have been working for 3 weeks for!!! (a higher lvl approaches) hey want (x) mill for that body? (my response) Absolutely!!!!! (puts up hits except wayyyy to fast) gone i got 10k for it when it was worth 200.... X( -addy trim pl8 gold-scammed for 10k -whip scammed for 100k But while many people thought rs was going to become a free fall after the G.E look at us now we r happy and getting along better than ever!!,(scammers actually went on the forums and confessed they were quitting after the G.E cause they couldn't scam n e more!!!!) but think about it for the greater good sacrifices MUST be made pvp was taken away for about a year but we won it back new and improved didn't we?? so runescape has had it's ups and downs but the point im trying to make is that yeah, we had a great time back then, i miss the time when clooecting iron from the hill giants for a living at lvl 28, but we can still have fun even if it is *cutting yews for hours at a time on our computers* runescape is NOT dead, it is very much alive and getting better every day in fact i just read the BTS NOVEMBER and i for one cannot w8 for the RTS mini game in december i love RTS
X3EN
Indeed. Without richer-than-most-'scapers scammers and pk pures, trained (leveled up) using the drop traded stuff (only several % were legitimate pures) the community has improved. We can argue about how skill capes cause arrogance between no sc owners/buyable sc owners/unbuyable sc owners and how skillers are the worst community ever, but I remember, so there's no such thing as "it was better some time ago". Maybe it was good for you when someone pulled a duped xmas cracker on you in varrock that day, but that doesn't mean the community was better. Since we got members in rsc, the community was quite bad already. With rs(2), some pkers left their stuff in rsc, but later rsc was "closed". Then we had those ten-times-more-arrogant stakers, which also were mostly raised in illegal ways (drop trading), plus some were RWT. Those are past now. Zierro
I always liked Runescape more than every other game because of the huge variety in skills. If they add more in, that's just adding to my own personal enjoyment. So no, in my opinions they are not ruining it.
godofrock72
RuneScape is being ruined, but it's not because of the reasons you've stated. It's because of a few things: Bots are the ones who ruined RuneScape Classic Preteens are the ones who ruined the community RWT is what caused the removal of PKing and the Trade Limits Proud member of The RuneScape Rebels
