Dragonkin: After the Rise of Lucien

Featured Replies

I found on RSOF a reference to the Stone as the Hand of Zamorak; we know he had it in the 2nd/3rd Age, but maybe it would shed some more light?

Anybody recalls meeting this name before?

Never heard of, maybe in the God Letters?

Ah well, soon we'll also see the Kidney of Armadyl. :P

I believe the stone hand of Zamorak was a joke told by Movario in his diary, where he remarks about the Eye of Saradomin and the Fist of Guthix, and relates it to other body parts of other gods. I remember he says something like "I wonder if the lips of Guthix could drink the sea dry" and then rebuffs himself for joking around when there's serious work to do, because the Stone of Jas is

With the latest quest I think we may see the Desert Pantheon getting roped into the Mahjarrat plotline, and potentially being used to stop Lucien, in one way or another.

I think it's fairly safe to say that the Stern Judges the Pharaoh Queen mentioned is just another name for the Mahjarrat and she also talks about redemption. Currently the player is an enemy of Amascut the Devourer and through this quest line we could perhaps finally get on her 'good' side.

Having the help of some Gods who have experience with the Mahjarrat could be helpful and I think Amascut will want revenge on the Mahjarrat since it was them who helped twist her into becoming the Devourer.

Also some extra tidbits not really relating to the overall scheme of things: the ritual used to pass on the Pharaoh Queen into the next life was also used on Akthanakos albeit the 'twisted' method that the Queen mentioned, this is what transformed him into a boneguard.

Actually the more I think about it, this ritual that they use could be related in some way to how they affected Amascut - the Goddess of Rebirth, they can allow someone to pass onto another life, return to life when needed, and corrupt and bind them to a form against their will - the boneguard, and who knows what else, their control over life probably enraged Amascut and perhaps threatened her role.

If the Desert Pantheon get involved then I think it's safe to say that they will also try to prevent the revival of Zaros too, since they aren't particularly great fans of his.

I think that, in the end, we will need the help of Ichtlarin, since he brougth the Mahjarrat to Gielinor and might know how to send them back to Frenneskae, or even how to kill them.

More than likely it'll be to banish them. I'm pretty sure the only way for them to truly die is through their ritual. Also makes me wonder how old some of these guys were when they first arrived, and no one seems to really talk about Frenskae much.

At least we got to hear a bit of Freneskaean folklore from Jhallan.

I'd love to see some other things brought in from that plane. Maybe since Zamorak has become a God and the gods can traverse the planes, he could pull in some outlandish stuff for us to kill.

Uhm, we are going off-topic here.

We should get back to the Dragonkin/Mahjarrat.

On that subject: Perhaps Mahjarrat is based on the Sanskrit word Mah?r?ja

The Sanskrit word Mah?r?ja (also spelled maharajah) means "great king" or "high king". (...) The female equivalent is Maharani (or Maharanee) [End of Quote].

This could mean that the Mahjarrat are in fact, rulers of (small) empires in Frenaskae, and that this is the reason they wish to conquer land on the plane of Gielinor.

Your opinions?

That's a quite good discovery, Jagex takes lots (read: most) of their ideas from mythology or other cultures- for example most of the summoning familiars are mythical creatures- Bunyip, Wolpentinger etc.

I agree with your idea tho.

It was more of a revelation. I live in Holland, and there is a program which has a report in its next airing about Mahãrãja, and because of all the Mahjarrat-related content and debate I was thinking, 'what are Mahãrãja and can the Mahjarrat be drawn from them?'

Apparently, I was correct that there might be a connection ::'

It seems likely that the Mahjarrat were kings or generals in Fenaskrae before Ichtlarin recruited them to serve him. Although what's interesting is why they agreed to serve him. Were they forced to serve him, and if so why was Ichthlarin not able to take them under his control back once Zaros was gone? Did Ichtlarin hire them, and if so how did he pay them?

maybe payed them with land, power, access to godly magicks, or the promise of slaughter and bloodshed?

I'm gonna be walking down an alley in varrock, and walka is going to walk up to me in a trench coat and say "psst.. hey man, wanna buy some sara brew"

walka92- retired with 99 in attack, strength, defence, health, magic, ranged, prayer and herblore and 137 combat. some day i may return to claim 138 combat, but alas, that time has not yet come

Well, Ichtlarin is the God of Death and Rebirth. As the Mahjarrat require the death of one to live every now and then, perhaps Ichtlarin promised to help finding a way to get around this Ritual to restore them to full power without death. If the ritual would be needed into eternity, the Mahjarrat would eventually die. If Ichtlarin could perform a ritual for them to grant them full power without death it would benefit them greatly.

After the 'fall' of Ichtlarin (the corruption creating the Devourer) he/she was no longer able to help them, thus they broke the pact.

He wouldn't find one; he is a God that brings life through death; it was his symbol. He wouldn't turn his symbols into something not important for him.

Great thread, you've done a good job uncovering as much as you can about this illusive race. Here's hoping that we see some more of the Dragonkin in the near future. :D

Since it was found in wilderness, maybe the Dragonkin are somehow related to Zaros? It was his empire over there so...

I think the dragonkin would be at odds with EVERYONE if such a fight were to break out, i.e. Dragonkin vs. Zaros vs. Zammy. Zaros and Zammy would have to join forces to have a prayer at winning.

I don't think Zaros will ever join forces with Zamorak. Zamorak banned Zaros from existence. We don't know much about the relations between the dragonkin and the gods, but if a skeleton of it was found in an area that has belonged to zaros for a long time it would make soms sense the dragonkin are somehow worshippers of Zaros. Or they got killed by Zaros when they tried to invade Zaros' empire. Who knows ;)

a dragonkin was killed by a cat. i think that zaros the most powerfull of all the gods(not counting elders) could kill them off.

Now now, Bob was no ordinary cat! Also, he wasn't a cat when he killed the Kin.

Nor did the Kin have the Stone of Jas - if they get hold of it, no individual god would likely be strong enough to kill them.
