Uncle Ray needs YOUR opinion. (iPod/Zen/MP3)

Titles mostly self explainatory.

I wont be watching videos on it, and would probably max 4gb,

So, MP3, Zen, or iPod?

And if any which one?

Thanks..

:)

I dont need a siggy no moar.

My recommendation is the Zune 4gb (since it's your max).

Pros:

Wireless Capabilities (sync, access to music store, music/pic sharing, games)

Works with XBOX360 (Can't test I don't own a 360)

Better screen for video watching

Durability - I've held the new iPod nanos and I feel like I have to be super gentle with it.

Cons:

No equalizer

Wireless takes shorten battery life

I think the screens are bigger than the nano's but the dpi on the nano might be better.

Size - if this is an issue they are bigger than nanos.

I'm using an Ipod Nano (fat version,8gb) because it was free with a contract my dad signed at work.Given a choice,I'd go zen.

Creative Zen Stone Plus.

No fancy lists for artists, genres, etc but it has a shuffle mode, you can select albums from a list and it has a small screen that gives you the song title. All you need for about £30-£40.

Only problem is that the stock headphones lose the comfortable furry bit that protects your ears. They are still usable after this falls off but it's a little bit annoying.

Stone is great.I got one for Christmas last year, and my mom promptly asked for it.She owes me a gift now,she got like 3 presents from and I got that one.So I had nothing last Christmas, similar to...years 9-15.Last year I was 16,so I expect nothing this year.

the three options you listed all fall under the category, "mp3 player"

Suggestions depend on your budget. If you can go all out, an iPod is a nice looking option. If not, i'd check out anythingbutipod.com

regardless, if its going to be 4gb or less, go for a flashbased player. smaller and handier.

personally, I'd suggest a samsung yp-t10, a zune 4 or 8, or a sansa e200 series with rockbox.

Buy an iPod Mini.

They're dirt cheap from ebay and they are decent. If you don't like the new iPods then this might be what you need.

A 4GB or 6GB one won't be more than like £40 I'd guess, if it's used.

I've upgraded mine with a 16GB flash card, it's not difficult at all.

I saw a zen stone on the internet, looks pretty cool.

I'm on comp now, so.. I can look at pics

Anyway, I'll go check out some Zens - especially the stone probably tomorrow night.

Hope I can get it \' Sounds so awesome.

P.S. I had a flash based Mp3 and it broke kinda quickly.

Weird shape + tight pocket = :l

I own the iPod Nano 4GB (3rd Gen) and I <3: it.

ipod_nano_3rd_generation.jpg

It's very slim, so you can put it in your pocket to put it away and you won't feel it like the Bulky Zunes.

You can even look for refurnished (cheap and good like new) ones on apple.com for a good price.

For anything under 30GB, I'd stay away from Apple, mainly because of cost. The only reason I have the iPod Classic 80GB is because it was actually the cheapest thing I could find with over 20GB capacity that I trusted not to break. Zen probably is the way to go, but I can't speak for any of them due to lack of experience. Oh, and the 2G Nano might be good if you could find it cheap. 4GB capacity, nice and small and mine was a tank. Dropped it in puddles, on tile, concrete, hardwood, and almost any surface from about a metre and a half, the only time I did damage was when I had to cut something on top of the screen, so I got a deep scratch on the side of the screen.

So look out for a new Zen or old Ipod Nano G1/2.

Ffs after putting it off for about a week im going tomorrow.

Also, are logitech earphones worth the cost (and are they expensive? lol >_>)

I dont mind if they dont have the protective fuzzy crap, that just makes the earphones much more dirty looking.

Hopefully logitech earphones are long enough to reach from my pocket to my ears. (Pockets being side pockets) <3:

Problem:

Me no liek ipods

nor small players.

pretty sure im going to check out a stone today or tomorrow or something ;)

I didn't like iPods either... until I got Christmas money last year and thought, "I need an MP3 Player - I'll give it a shot". I've not looked back since.

The thing is about the crappy £20 MP3s is they break within a few months of buying them, then you have to a buy new one and copy all the music again - it's a total farce. My iPod's lasted me pretty much a whole year now. It crashes a few times but you reset it in 6 seconds and it's fine after that. Plus the sound quality's amazing.

If you want my advice, get one. Just a 4GB Shuffle or Nano. Might be still able to get a second generation (2G) Nano from eBay for cheap, now 4G's out.

I have a random MP3 Player (Philips something), but if I could choose, I would get a Zen. Because they're cool.

Yup. Zens are so underrated just because ipods are known by everyone.

Soo annoying.

O and another question about musics right,

How do I check how many megabytes all of my songs (put together) total up to?

I dont need a siggy no moar.

Best way I know of, since I am not familiar with a Zen, is to plug in your Zen, then go to My Computer and Right-Click the drive representing your Zen and select properties. Also, if a program comes with Zens for loading music and other files, I would expect it to tell you.
