Time For Self Chosen Items When Dropped On Death?

Featured Replies

I don't know how the system works when you die and loose items, what one is protected and what one isn't and based on what factors. But i know that not being able to choose what items you want to keep is bad.

I have died at Zamorak boss during solo trips 3 times. 2 Times because of disconnecting because of a unknown factor disturbing my connection and 1 time making a seconds mistake and getting smashed by boss.

I lost 3 Fire capes. Now the thing is, Fire cape that is so better and cost more (supply wise) weren't protected. Why did i loose Fire capes? I wanna know the answer. Why does it have to be like this, and what harm is it with players being able to choose what 4 items to keep if being killed?

Losing 3 Fire capes is alright, but keep losing items you don't wanna loose but could have been prevented stinks more. In WoW players keep their items  But yes this is Runescape, and i love that you can loose some items when you die because without it the game wouldn't be so much fun. But can't Jagex give us a break and let us choose the 4 items of our own choice to keep?

Do you believe it's about time that Jagex lets us players to do this? Will it have any effects on game, if so in what way?

Should we be able to do this?

Discuss.

EDIT:

Items that are kept on death when chosen will be more common and go down in price will ones that's less common go up in price. So a items price raise is a another's fall. As for eliminating all risk, i lost alot more than just 3 Fire capes. Look below to find out what...

It goes by high alchemy value... which is bogus nowadays since theres the GE to base prices on.

It could unbalance the economy. Imagine people using full verac at the KQ- of course they would protect the helm, and prices would plummet.

A price fall in a item, is a price raise in a other?

That's not really a bad thing. All 4 pieces of Dharok's would be the same, the way it should be. Instead of like 300k, 300k, 300k, 3.1m, it would be 1m, 1m, 1m, 1m. In my opinion, that's how it should be.

then the flail's price would rise? so the prices get evened out a bit. what's so wrong about that?

Yeah that's what i was thinking Robert

I think it would be very helpful if this was true. I've nearly lost my beloved santa hat a few too many times. With the implementation of the gravestones, I guess it wouldn't really matter TOO much IF people blessed/repaired your stone, but still, it'd be nice to choose.

The only problem with choosing is how would it occur? In bh, you would have to choose the items before entering the arena or else your enemy would have to wait for the drops to appear. I guess otherwise, it shouldn't matter.

IF YOU DON'T WANT TO RISK THE ITEMS, DO NOT TAKE THEM

Things like GWD is supposed to be high risk. Choosing what items to keep eliminates pretty much all risk. Bottem line, no...

I am not a skiller, but i do some skills.

it wouldn't be hard to implement. open 'items kept on death' and drag the ones you want to keep into the top box.

I believe there should be some restrictions to it, but when it comes to what items to choose it should have two options:

One with self chosen items and one with automatic where game does it for you.

IF YOU DON'T WANT TO RISK THE ITEMS, DO NOT TAKE THEM

Is there a need to give me that BOLDED text? I cleary know what i was doing and i knew the risk. I am not complaining about me dieing either. I am just saying that we should be able to choose 4 items of our own choice. Your logic says that losing Bandos tasset+Bandos godsword+Chestplate+Fire Cape is something that's right.

Eliminates pretty much all risk?

This is total i lost (I kept 3 other items but lost these):

x3 Fire capes

x4 Slayer helmets=340K+ each

x4 Dragon boots =300K+

x3 Zamorak D hide= 300K+

x2 Zamorak chaps =100K+

+ other stuff that is under 80k.

So as far as i see, there is plenty risk left.

Agree.

This would be a great addition to RS, because in this way you could not lose clue scrolls when you die to revenants in the wilderness, when clue scrolls are much more valuable than your other items like food, which you can easily get back.

I think Jagex could make it so that some items could not be chosen to be protected.

It would work like this;

You pick up to 4 items (so that if you were to put protect item on later, you wouldn't have to worry about going back to change which items are protected so that you protect the right items) that you want to protect. If you have some items that you want to protect, but Jagex doesn't let you protect them, you just can't choose those items to be protected, and only if they would naturally be protected you will keep them. If you want to let some of the items be chosen by the current rule, you just don't pick 4 items, and all of the remaining items that can be protected will be chosen by value. ALSO, I thought of this while I was typing the rest of this, that one of the items would be chosen as your fourth for protect item, so that if you DON'T put on protect item, RS knows which items to keep, so yeah... they would have to allow you to pick which one would be protected with protect item too.

So... basically what would happen would be lets say you bring 7 items

Lets list these items in an example situation:

You protect 3 items so that you can save an item that you cannot choose, but want to keep.

Item 1: Clue Scroll - You want to keep it but you can't choose it,

Item 2: Watch - You want to keep this, so you select it

Item 3: Sextant - You want to keep this, so you select it

Item 4: Chart - You want to keep this, so you select it

Item 5: Spade - Not valuable, and it protects over Item 1, so you can drop it incase your going to die.

Item 6: Antipoison - For those ****ing revs  Drop it incase your going to die.

Item 7: Prayer Potion - For Revs, but not as valuable as the clue, drop it incase death is close and use it.

You don't make it to the location in time, a rev is killing you, toss on your Protect range and your Protect item and you get poisoned, antipoison up, your low on pray, pray pot up, but your almost dead and going to die, so you drop your spade antipoison and prayer potion, die, and you automatically had the Watch Sextant and Chart picked, and your clue scroll is kept, along with your coords items, \' no worries, go back and get your clue done on a different world with more food maybe, :P

Items 2-7 were situational, but basically you select items 2, 3, and 4, cannot pick item 1, but want to keep it, so you drop items 5, 6, and 7.

This situation could have been a bunch of nice gear, lets say this example, and lets see what would happen in two situations.

Without this in place you might have items 1-7, you automatically keep items 1-4 with protect item on, but one of the items you do not want, and you want a different item, say item 5. Items 6-7 are irrelevant, as you don't care about them lol. You die, lose items 5-7 and keep items 1-4, and get really angry about losing item 5 when it was more important to you than items 1-4.

With this in place, you have items 1-7, choose items 1-3 and 5, die, lose items 4, and 6-7, and your happy to not have lost that.

Yeah... I thought this was a cool idea and knew it would help, I hope these examples help show how this would help. ALSO one last thing... Move this to suggestions

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

[hide=Slayering Time]Zekei1.png[/hide]

maybe a system that would let you keep 75% of your items based on total ge value. Say you have a 50mill godsword, 4 peices of 10mil armour, and various other peices that amount to another 10mill, you would be able to keep what armour you want, as well as supplies to an extent, as well as the 50mill godsword, but loose at least 2 peices of armour and half your supplies

Hypothetical of course. 10mill in supplies seems rather kinda (really) off, but the math is easier.

It is not the great who are strong, but the strong who are great--Albel Nox

first of all it has always been a unspoken rule in pvp/bh if you lose an item like fire cape which is untradible then the killer should allow you to receive it.

And this would kill pvp/bh because everyone would bring like phats and drag pl8s knowing they will not lose it.

Get this, a noob will bring full dragon into wildy with the worst stats possible and no food.

With your idea he would have entered with impunity.

You think its sooo tragic to lose something? I am not a hypocrite lol, i lost 2 green mask from dying, yet i care not for it happens.

One reason why i hated playing WoW is people do not drop there items when they die.

I like it when you kill a guy or a guy dies and drops something.

I hate the trade restriction thought, i highly enjoyed the fact the afk guy would drop his red mask from being a choob.

wrong the flails price would not rise. verac's is a bad comparison each piece has a good use, helm and skirt for prayer, torso for looks..., and flail for crush and i could never see the prices all the same

Y_Z.png

It's true about old alching prices - they were the only 'value' available before the GE, and apparently are the 'value' assigned to weapons in the Runescape world, giving Jagex a nice excuse to use them. I'd like to see them switch to GE values myself; fairly simple, and I wouldn't be so annoyed about dying with DH -.-

Drops: 1x Draconic Visage, 56x Abyssal Whip, 5x Demon Head, D Drops: 37, Barrows Drops: 43, DK Drops: 29

GWD drops: 14,000x Bars, 1x Armadyl Hilt, 2x Armadyl Skirt, 4x Sara Sword, 1x Saradomin Hilt, 8x Bandos Hilt, 8x Bandos Platebody, 9x Bandos Tassets, 4x Bandos Boots, 43x Godsword Shard, 82x Dragon Boots

Dry streak records: Saradomin 412 kills Bandos 988 kills Spirit Mages 633 kills - Slayer Sucks

When you die, you get to keep ONE item of choice.

That would be the best way. Too much money going around in RuneScape. We need a new money drain.

Either choose the items you want to keep, or better we keep by value. (GE price?)

I'm quite emotive on this subject having lost my D.Chain even though I kept D.Square. :wall:

Yeah it is likely the entire set would just be more balanced. I will use another example.

While using a full barrows set and a whip, the whip will not protect. This fact is helping to keep whip prices high which puts some worth into high level slayer. I'm not sure how much of a difference it would make, but it certainly could cause a price drop.

No. Then everyone would just choose items like fire capes and stuff like it that have an actually higher value than they do have in gp. It's good as it is now. Just avoid dieing.

Meh...just ge a bit strategic with your equipment choice. I for example use bracers over b gloves at arma so I only possibly lose one piece of armour. On second thougth it would be nice if you could sacrifice that stupid v helm...

Maybe there's a reason you lose clue scrolls, maybe it's so the clues are harder and more riskyful.

Don't bring it if you cannot afford to lose it. It's always been this way. As Artemis said before me, it would completely nullify the concept of high-risk areas and anyone could do any boss. Imagine it, if all you stood to lose was a couple sharks, pots, and about 200k in items, who wouldn't do God Wars? Last I checked GWD was already over-crowded enough, why would you make it easier to do?
