... These new hairdos include some rather interesting styles inspired by AkHaranu, a visitor from the unexplored eastern realms. Perhaps next year will unearth more fashions from these interesting folk? Only time will tell...

 

 

 

Apparently, they're trying to give us access to fashion styles from the East. This sounds as if they're planning to give us access to this area in the not-so-distant future.

Temple trecking comes to mind when I read that. Maybe a mini game along those lines? The only other thing I can imagine from a far east update would be far east weapons and far east skills. How about melee/range/mage weps that require agility to use? :pray: Only speculation on speculation, of course, but hay, its a thought.

That would be a good question to ask. How do we get there? There is a boat in Port Phasmatys that is used for Eastern trading; perhaps this is what we'll use.

 

 

 

As far as new weapons from the East, I hope they release the bow-sword (seen in Devious Minds quest) and katana.

 

 

 

Also, Jagex has already given us a Samurai hairstyle from their last player kit update. I wonder what other styles could be released.

how big does it need to be before its considered another rs continent? if u think of it the rs mainland we have now is just 1 big island

Though I am a sucker for Ninja and Samurai, I'm not entirely sure the Eastern lands will ever exist.

 

 

 

It seems to me that the Eastern lands are Jagex' fallback point, which they can use for convinience, such as the Cyclopes. I'm sure they will make more use of this too, they might even have done so already.

I'd like that. It would be good if there was no land connection between the two continents. The shape of the Morytanian coast suggests it doesn't go much further east than the Sanguinesti Region. If it does that, then there should be a stretch of the Eastern Ocean and finally you get to the Eastern Lands.

 

 

 

But, personally, I think that should start finishing off some of the 'black zones' before they start making another continent. Finish off the Jungle Hunting area, the Woodland Hunting area, the square east of Trollweiss Mountain, the eastern and southern coast of the Kharidian Desert, and the rest of Morytania. It can't be that hard to finish these areas off, they don't have to be part of a specific quest or anything, quite a few popular areas aren't. Just make them into some new hunting areas or fishing areas or woodland.

I don't think anything major will be in the East Lands too soon, if they are released. Think of this - Runescape has taken what, 10 years to get as big as it is now? And with the focus Jagex is taking on storylines and such now, they'd have to make sure everything fit, sort of.

 

 

 

And if it was China, how would it work? China was never really one nation, except for a few times and under Kublai Khan. And Japan is feudal, in a much more warring way than RuneScape is (although, I guess medieval was like this as well). And don't forget, the Chinese Invented Gunpowder. And Japan was closed to much of the world for a long time. If Jagex plans to remain close to history, things are going to be somewhat odd.

 

 

 

Although, Jagex doesn't seem to add history except for an odd reference here and there... so who knows.

It would be nice, wouldn't even need to be a full sized continent or kingdom, just a new area that jagex can build outward from, without having to complete long quest chains.

 

 

 

They've boxed themselves up on most sides of the current continent so maybe a new landmass would do some good.

And to think I was almost fully convinced that Jagex had completely forgotten about the Eastern Lands they mentioned so many times in the past..

Cyclops are more to do with the eastern European area, ie Greece then Asia.

 

As the whole concept of a Cyclops was they were misinterpreted elephant skulls found on and around the Greek islands.

Honestly, hair wise, all I want is an afro. A massive blue afro. Not likely to get that in the eastern hairstyles update though :(
