weird flying glitch

well, the story goes, as i was minding my own business chopping willows in draynor a weird guy appeared, who looked like he was on a magic carpet, but seemed to be floating in mid air i asked him how he did it.

I reported as bug abuse, its like the glitch where when you get a makeover while wearing circus stuff yout body disappears

Report as in Report bugs on the main site rather than in-game. Report that you have seen a player floating around like on a magic carpet while wearing castle war capes and hoods.

Looks like he's done the glitch at the gnomecopters or something, but you can't have a cape there, so probably not. Would be kinda fun to know the glitch, but not very fun to get banned/blackmarked for it.

its just a guy using the gnome helicopters that you can use to view areas of runescape, its for noobs although i dont see why you cant actualy view the helicopter thats just a graphic bug.

No, he is doing the magic carpet emote, he did something to get that emote stuck. the castle wars gear is just the kind that you buy.

Are you kidding me? How on earth are you going to report someone for bug abuse? Make them admit they're abusing a bug, and explain it in fine detail? Not gonna happen...

 

 

 

As for the glitch, I think I saw someone doing that before... I only saw them for a second or two. Before I knew what was going on, they seemed to fly away.

I know exactly how the glitch is done. If someone wants to know, here is the instructions...

 

 

 

1. Get a Gnomecopter ticket to Castle Wars.

 

2. Turn HD on.

 

3. There are two signs near the Zamorak Castle Door, click the one on the right.

 

4. Click "next floor" in the lower right corner.

 

5. Now, turn the camera so that the report abuse button is "on" the floor. Click on the floor, and very quickly click on the report abuse button.

 

6. Your character should fly inside the castle, if it does, close the report abuse screen. If you didn't manage to do this, try again.

 

7. Click on the Zamorak portal.

 

8. Return to Lumbridge. Now, when you move, your character will fly! :)

 

9. If you want the Saradomin cape, well... one sign near the Saradomin castle works :)

If you teleport, change equipment, log out or use certain emotes (such as Give Thanks) your character won't fly anymore. To get the cape off, just log out.

 

 

 

I don't think this is bug abuse, although you will get some members' items (the cape, and you can get bandages also), because both have no real use in F2P as they're "members objects" and they will disappear when you log out.

 

 

 

If you want some extra fun, check your equipment screen :D

Wow... how do anyone just come across glitches like the one we have here by coincidence? I mean look at that, it takes a sequence of 7 steps to perform and few of them are likely that you will just stumble across. Things like this just keep me jaw-dropping. :lol:

You forgot to bold the rest of the sentece... If you read that again, this bug is clearly not reportable. It isn't devaluing players' efforts, or unbalancing the game. It simply looks funny, nothing wrong.

According to Wikipedia, glitch is a short term fault in a system, and a bug is a fault in the system period. Either way, its still an exploit that you can use and is against the rules to duplicate. Even still, think logically for a minute, if you owned a game, and you made a code error, would you want 1000 people floating around cities, and them saying "its not harming anyone!". No, you wouldnt. You would want it REPORTED so you could deal with it. (Assuming you didnt know about it in the first place.

 

 

 

And to above poster, it doesnt say IF it is unbalancing, it says it CAN unbalance, so it is against the rules to deliberately take advantage of one. You don't know what it can and can't do. People try replicating it, who knows what could happen. Someone could figure something new out, get outside of castle wars, and start cutting down magic trees in seers, going to the magic guild and mining essence. You don't know what could happen, and Im pretty sure this is reportable.

Yeah, I suppose it makes sense. They just want to be cautious is all, seeing as bugs are unpredictable. I wouldn't do this glitch myself, I don't want to risk anything.
