Ok, article in description too.

here the artcile thats in the description.

What the OZARK, Mo. -- A family wants answers about what happened to their son that left him hospitalized. Early Saturday morning, police found Mace Hutchinson, 16, underneath the Highway F overpass over U.S. 65.

Mace ended up in intensive care at a hospital. His parents believe the actions of Ozark police officers contributed to his injuries and slowed doctors' abilities to speed his recovery.

"We called the police. My wife was afraid he was going to get ran over or hit," said witness Doug Messersmith.

Messersmith and his wife were the last known people to see 16-year-old boy walking, shortly before their phone call to 911.

"He looked a little agitated but, other than that, he didn't look to be falling down drunk or anything like that," he said.

By the time officers arrived, the teen was off the 30-foot overpass, lying on the shoulder below along U.S. 65, with no good explanation as to how he got there.

"According to the doctors, all injuries are consistent with a fall," said his aunt, Samantha.

Mace's dad believes it was just that, a fall, not a jump. The question is why.

"They tested his system. He was clean of drugs and alcohol. We don't know why unless just being in shock and the whole thing in itself caused him to forget everything," said Hutchinson.

His aunt says he is undergoing major surgery for a broken back and broken heel. While he was lying on the ground, she wonders why Ozark police used an electric stun gun on him up to 19 times.

"I'm not an officer, but i don't see the reason for 'Tasering' somebody laying there with a broken back. I don't consider that a threat,"

His dad says the use of the stun gun delayed what would have been immediate surgery by two days.

"The 'Tasering' increased his white blood cell count and caused him to have a temperature so they could not go into the operation."

"He refused to comply with the officers and so the officers had to deploy their Tasers in order to subdue him. He is making incoherent statements; he's also making statements such as, 'Shoot cops, kill cops,' things like that. So there was cause for concern to the officers," said Ozark Police Capt. Thomas Rousset.

Police say although there are several unanswered questions; the reason for the use of a stun gun is not one of them.

"It's a big concern for the officers to keep this guy out of traffic, to keep him from getting hurt," said Rousset.

Mace was still in intensive care on Wednesday night, listed in fair condition. He was scheduled for surgery again on Thursday. The family, along with the Ozark Police Department, hopes someone will see this report and come forward with more information. You can call (417) 699-4789 with information or call the Ozark Police Department

It stops them without permadent harm (usually...) and without killing them. Think about it, shooting a running man just kills him... Tazeing him simply stops him, giving them enough time to 'cuff em.

Edit:

But 19 times? Bad. NO. Not-nice. I couldn't watch the video becuase of my comp, so if i missed something key, dont get too mad :P

WHAT THE [bleep]!?

Those cops should be sent to Guantanamo, beaten and tazed every day, and be given extremely slippery soap.

After a few weeks of pain and misery, they should have THEIR backs broken, drenched in water and then electrocuted to death.

Worse is that the tazzing halted the operation for his back

Okay, what I wanna know here is what the heck really happened. I don't trust the news because local news stations almost always play up minor things like that. I don't trust the parents or family because there is isn't a more biased source out there. Finally, I don't even trust the cops because they are likely going to try and down play anything they did. Personally, I think its just plain bizarre that the cops could even hope to get away with that, so why did they do it?

....... I'm sorry, but this is unacceptable. The cop who zapped the dude should not only have to pay for ALL of his medical bills, but they should also have their spines (or at least key parts) surgically removed so they can never use their back again, and hopefully never walk. If possible, I'd find it very beneficial to also shunt metal rods into their elbows, shoulders, knees, and pelvis and apply a voltage just this side of lethal. Maybe then they would know not to pull this [cabbage].

Well cause of what he was saying 'kill cops' and for some stupid reason why did the parents call Cops and not 911? geez.

You are an officer of the law. It is your duty to protect the innocent. You are called to a situation; a boy is lying in terrible pain, having apparently fallen or jumped off a bridge, on to the highway below. After stopping traphic you tend to the boy; he can not stand, and is mumbling something about cops. He is unarmed, poses no threat to you what so ever, and is in dire need of medical attention. Logically, then, you pull out your tazer and paralyze him. Because he might flail his arm around. And trip you. Yeah.

I'm not about to belive he was tazed 19 times. But once is too many. What the hell?

quit

Ok ok ok. BEING an officer of the law i would like to comment on this.

Lets look at this from the cops angle. What was the 911 call like? Who called? Did we hear any of this? What if it was a call of a man on or almost on the interstate, which dangers both drivers and the kid. Laying dead, walking alive....it doesn't matter he is a danger on the side of the road.

Secondly he was mumbling, making weird statements it was reported. Very common with intoxication, who can be violent offenders when you try to arrest them, how were the officers supposed to know any different? Lastly, how was he laying? Where were his hands? What if his hands were under him. As an officer you don't know what a person is reaching for, even if their hand is stuck under them. How do you know he was unarmed at the time? Does anyone here have xray vision cause i sure don't.

I'm not saying a tazer should of been used, but come on don't blame the cops for all of this mess. They reacted to what they thought the situation required. I carry a tazer, i have been tazed. To think this is a whole ploy or conspiracy by the police department to just brutalize someone is sketchy at best. After a tazer is discharged its department policy that a supervisor has to be called to the scene (I assume thats the case everywhere).

It could of been worse. They could of jumped on top of him and his broken back to arrest him and caused more damage. I'm sure we'll hear more about this, freedom of information act will get all the dash cam videos and reports.

Why the hell would the cop do this? To see if he was alive? "Maybe if we zap him a few more times, he'll wake up!" :wall:

Maybe there's some hidden aspect to the story that the media hides. I don't now. But seriously... even if he was a threat, the first two or three tazers would usually subdue him. Beating up an unconscious body is what scared women do to a rat they just killed with a broom, just in case it was alive. The tazer seems to be abused quite a lot. I think they should redefine the use of the tazer. It probably says in the manual "use when a threat is nearby" and the fact that they were near a busy highway was good enough of a threat even though it wasnt from the other person. You watch, someone will find a loophole that will let them get off with very little punishment.

And to Krieg, even if a tazer was necessary, how many times was it necessary to subdue him? Maybe a lot on a low setting. But if he was generally a threat, you wouldn't use a low setting. 19 times is just plain unnecesssary unless the guy is really bulky and won't go under.

He wasn't bulky at all. in the video you'll see him in bed, with like 100 casts on, neckbrace, sleeping.

He a skinny person. maybe average. But danm, his life just got cabbage'd over

Although you do make a few good points, would you really be worried that a 16 year old who fell off an overpass is hurt you? Now if they didn't know any of the background information, which I find unlikely and would be a fault of the department, there are probably far better ways to handle the situation than by reaching for their tazer. And from what I've seen, 1 hit from a tazer can bring a full grown man to the ground, so why 19 on an apparently severly injured teenager?

That being said there's a fair chance that this is blown out of proportion.

How do i know he fell? I wasn't there, i just pulled up to the scene of some guy lying on the shoulder of an interstate. Lol come on. The family says they tazed him 19 times, lets see the police report or dash cam to see. I don't believe 19 times.

Don't get me wrong there are bad cops out there, but we don't know the situation.
