stevepole
I saw it Friday night. I enjoyed the film but it was tad to long for my likings. I never ended up reading the comic because I felt that the comic itself became to commercialized due to the movie's hype. What was that crystal ship like thing on Mars? It was one of the few things I didn't understand.
How2PK
I wonder what the comic book has got to add that makes it worth reading for me. More Rorschach. Yeah, can't go wrong with sadistic violence. [That at the same time is awesome.] Please not, I got very tired of his one liners. Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore! Harakiri
The movie is not very good if you hadn't already read the book. Those who have read it will notice bits missing, bits added and bits changed, but overall, it's nothing special. It would have worked better if it hadn't been so godawfully long. It would have been better to turn it into a TV miniseries, with episodes corresponding with chapters. I didn't think it mattered that they cut out some stuff, they kept the same idea and anything that was added worked out and fit the framework of the comic nicely. If you can't stand a 2 hr 45min movie, can't wait for the directors cut with all 3 1/2 hours of awesome in it. I have read the book and found it magnificent. I liked that they incorporated lots of brutal action in the movie, made it a bit more exciting to see Rorschach beat the crap out of people. And the buzzsaw scene will live with me forever. That was cool. I don't know if anyone agrees with me, but I thought it was very well done and an excellent adaptation.

Harakiri
2 3/4 hour movie was amazing. 3 1/2 hour movie is probably even better. Anyone have an opinion on the new Black Freighter cartoon (coming out 24) and the new game? I'd like to know how good the game is from a gamer, and not a reviewer, because I've always found the gamers more reliable.
indy500fan
Someone said it best earlier: [bleep]ING AWESOME! Although if you haven't read the graphic novel before going in you could get a little confused about things. The ending was a little long, but otherwise I liked pretty much all of it. The love scene did kind of seem a little long but Malin Akerman is pretty hot so that was fine by me. 2 3/4 hour movie was amazing. 3 1/2 hour movie is probably even better. A friend told me that there was going to be a live action movie about the Minutemen released with that, it was the first I heard of it though so who knows. Jaziek
I was really doubtful as to whether MCR would spoil the ending, but damn, the way they did that scene at the end with the new version of desolation row was AWESOME.
i_love_burritos
Screw Zach Snyder, he's going to put the Black Freighter on the bonus section of the collectors edition DVD. ONLY. Would have been so much better with that extra layer of plot. Though I do see, why it was left out. Hard to convey in film and those who have not read the graphic novel, might not see through the metaphor. Too many metaphors in Watchmen, too many... Baconxl
Putting Black Freighter into the movie would've been a mistake, too complicated I think, with or without reading it. Plus it would probably bump the movie up another hour or something which would just be unbearable honestly. Also, this:
Harakiri
No, they bumped it because the fans were real rebellious about adding it, which I can see because that part of the comic bored the [cabbage] out of me. And yes, the Black Freighter comes with a live action version of Under The Hood supposedly.
Lenticular_J
So, what are your votes? A must-see? Or is the Manhattan's baring of his, "soul" too much to ... bear. catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

Harakiri
Definately have to see it unless your a six year old (I swear to god there were like ten six year olds in the theater. Half of them left with their parents, and the other half are probably scarred for life. Idiot parents. Said right on the ticket booth: Watchmen is not your normal Superhero movie. It contains Intense Language Intense Violence Intense Sexual Themes)
misterxman
Read the book a while ago, I liked how the movie turned out. The new ending was pretty clever. The music went well with every scene. They never showed how Rorschach got his mask though. You could tell who read the book in the theater when they didn't seem surprised about what Rorschach saw and said about the psych's cards lol. i_love_burritos
One of my friends watched it yesterday, said it wasn't that good. In addition to this, Alan Moore is a sophisticated and reserved [puncture].

I'd personally just wait for the ultimate DVD... And I saw an 8-ish year old walk out of the theater (at the end). That's how you can tell if someone hasn't read the comic. They keep saying they wanna see the super-heroes and Batman (Nite Owl).
Harakiri
I don't know but I could not believe the kid sitting next to me in the theater. Had never read the comic of course and thought this would be a good movie to see until another spider man movie comes out. When they show the guys arm getting broken and the blood squirting out the kid nearly threw up. It was hilarious.

It didn't help that my bladder was about to rupture the whole time. Honestly, most violent movie I've probably seen is Saving Private Ryan, or the spire through head bit in Hot Fuzz. I haven't seen many R movies - this was only my second actually in theaters (first was Role Models). I'm only
