January 22, 200917 yr Those of you who still have access to, and visit, the Runescape Classic forums (IE: Myself, and two of you) have known for a while now about a movement going on to get recognition for Runescape Classic players in Runescape 2. The project went under numerous ideas; titles on the forums, a crown, and finally a cape. Here's my idea, which has gotten quite a bit of support: My dream goes like this: The cape transforms you into a Runescape Classic avatar, wearing nothing but the default clothes and a black partyhat. You can walk around and chat, but nothing else. Combat removes the cape effect. This way, all Jagex really has to do is port the animations, models, and textures over, and maybe palette swipe one of the existing skill capes with a new picture. And just a few days ago, we received a message on the thread by Runescape Classic's curator, Mod Emilee. Just to let you know, I have forwarded this idea to the Content Development Team. Although I don't believe it would be feasible to introduce a cape, I think that a reference to RSC (whether it would feature in a quest or cutscene) would be awesome. I can't wait to see what this will turn out to be. Any ideas or suggestions (I'll throw them in the rsof thread if you don't have access)?
January 22, 200917 yr That would be flipin' awesome! I love visiting the old RSC sever and roaming (not running lol) around Too bad all my skills are back to level 1... :wall: Suggest a poll for Tip.it - Here!
January 22, 200917 yr What do you mean in your post that you still have access to the RuneScape Classic Forums? I don't see them on my Forum List and I can still access and play RuneScape Classic.
January 22, 200917 yr The reference/cutscene sounds cool, but that cape idea sounds terrible. Doomy edit: I like sheep
January 22, 200917 yr Hate the cape, love the cameo. Especially since I can still access RSC. :D Linux User/Enthusiast | Full-Stack Software Engineer | Stack Overflow Member | GIMP User...Alright, the Elf City update lured me back to RS over a year ago.
January 22, 200917 yr RSC is dead, I don't see why people keep on pursuing it. It's the community you all long for, and with RuneScape's community all you're going to get is a faint memory of an outdated game. I honestly hope that the dev team spends their time more wisely than this. A Draconic Guide V1.4, Fimer - Multi-Timer Farming Timer V3.Dragon Boots: 39|Abyssal Whips: 16|Dark Bows: 1|

Seriously, it just seems stupid that you need recognition just for playing a crappy version of the game we all play now. It sounds like your parents never took pictures and video-taped you as a child/baby. So you wouldn't know how special a memory could be. PM me if you play The Conduit to exchange friend codes.
January 22, 200917 yr He's comparing his memories of his actual life to those of his actual life that include RuneScape. Even though I was never able to play RSC this is a great idea. 66,275th to 99 Cooking 73,802nd to 99 Fletching 8,839th to 99 Smithing 71,320th to 99 Magic

There's something wrong with having fond memories of a game? I sincerely hope I'm not the only one with good memories of pokemon... Jagex have evidently paid a LOT of attention to the history and lore of runescape, it makes no sense to not include classic references in the main game. If you want memories, share your pictures amongst others, discuss events that stood out to yourself, look at some vids, etc. If you're one of the few with a RSC account you can even go right back on. Admittedly I have a RSC account and to me it seems like a barren wasteland with a community currently not much better than RS2's. I have baby pictures, but I don't have to put on diapers and jump into a baby carriage to remember the time. January 22, 200917 yr philip kolar is arguing for the sake of it, philip do yourself a favour and stay out of the thread. I think some sort of a homage to rsc is a great idea, hope to see it implemented in some way soon.

I was never big on RSC, you're right there. There's nothing to suggest that if Jagex didn't updated RuneScape that the good times wouldn't stop rolling. Why would the community not change if RS2 was not released? Miniclip would still take it's toll on the game's maturity but the only exception would be less players due to a very graphically un-appeasing game. It's the majority that fuels Jagex's pockets, it's Jagex's pockets that fuel frequent updates and it's frequent updates that fuel the RuneScape we know today - one countless times more successful than RSC. Just like trade restrictions, people may not have liked the shift but it was all for the best. philip kolar is arguing for the sake of it, philip do yourself a favour and stay out of the thread. January 22, 200917 yr Black partyhat for RSC players ftw lol. It does sound awesome, but I would have to take off my precious shiny helm of Neitiznot, and I love my helm. Still... Black partyhat... Hail to The Great Big Penguin in the sky. And Guthix, of course.
January 22, 200917 yr A simple emote would be pretty nice too. You sit down on the floor and "dream". Zzzz appears above your head like the lunar spell and then a bubble appears above your head with a little RSC character in it. The bubble pops and then you stand back up to normal. I only logged in once to rs classic when I was a f2p player all those years ago. Found the normal rs graphics better so I never touched classic after that. I like the idea of an emote. ........::::: Rainy's YouTube Channel - Rainy's Twitter - Rainy's Facebook - Rainy's DeviantArt - Rainy's Tumblr - Rainy's Tip.It Profile :::::.........

I really like this idea, preferring it to the cape concept. I really don't see what the problem is with paying homage to the oringal game. Even if it's just a sort of recognition as to how far Runescape has come since the good ol' days. Although first starting this game (2005ish) long after RS2 was released, I can sympathise with the players that just want something to reminisce RSC over, as I've recently found myself, for some reason, having a desperate and frustrating nostalgia for some 'old school' games from my younger days - esp. Majora's Mask & Perfect Dark.

January 22, 200917 yr Bring back the "Black Hole Experience"? It'll be just as pointless as it ever was, existing just to fulfil the curiosity of the masses just like in the old days. Or how about an optional 'cabbage' filter? A Guard saying "Hey! No fighting!" as part of a quest? Mechscape World (the original MechScape fansite)
