Rageman192
WARNING!!! May contain spoilers!!! During the battle with the Balance Elemental,it says some interesting things. It talks like it knows the playe from the past,as can been seen here: The Elemental appears Balance Elemental (BE): By order of the Governance of Guthix, what rights do you have here? Player: What? BE: Perhaps some violence will make you understand? Battle starts BE: Do you know what, (Player's name)? I've really missed you. It's been such a long time, and your funeral was just such a lovely event. BE: And what was it you used to say to me? Oh, I remember it well, since it was like yesterday. Ah, well, I guess you know better than anyone that the good die young! Player: What do you...? BE: Oh well, back to the battle...I'm enjoying it, are you? Battle continues BE: The bloom of youth only lasts so long. What can any of us aspire to but a glorious death, and yours was glorious. BE: Oh, and the other days someone else was talking about how much they missed you. How you used to light the place up with your laughter, but it's all gone now. But you know that better than any of us! Player: You don't make any sense at all! BE: But of course, it's always nice to talk, though, and 'manners maketh the man', is what you always told me. When the Elemental is defeated: BE: "And to protect the Stone until such a time as, near to death, whereby you are relieved of all duties and shall henceforth be returned to your home plane with the gratitude and blessings of Guthix." (credit to The Runescape Wiki fo the dialogue) The BE also talks like the player has died in some point, and as it is some kind of guardian of Guthix, I dont think it talks just random nonsense to distract the player. I think theres more behind its phrases. So I would like to hear your thoughts about it.
EddeX
Mmm..perhaps next part of Making/Meeting History ?? became a guardian of guthix in the past, die and return to the present? :o many possiblities =O
Zaaps1
Parallel planes? Seems possible. Perhaps you died on a different plan when the events in WGS turned out differently? If the Balance Elemental is from this plane, as hinted in its dying dialogue, this would make sense. Also playing off this, if the Balance Elemental is Guthix's servant from a parallel plane, what does that make the Chaos Elemental? ~It's Super Effective! mervinator_9
That is bizarre, I cant remember anything from that fight when I did it, I was too busy concentrating on switching my prayers. Tbh I thought it was just random nonsense like Melzar. Maybe more will revealed in WGS 2 or what ever quest follows it, but I wouldn't be surprised if it just gets forgotten and left. Theres a fine line between not listening and not caring,I like to think I walk this line every day. Pinning blame on Jagex is like trying to put pants on an old man. You both know he needs them, but he'll just keep dancing around, avoiding them at all costs.

(Put aside that chaos = Zamorak) What if Zaros is this counterbalance?

Misterknowitall
This is how it will go: 1. Lucien becomes a God. 2. New God Wars break out. 3. Guthix awakens and threatens to destroy Gielinor. 4. Zaros suddenly breaks out of the body of Bob (Alien-style). 5. Zaros and Guthix start an epic fight and eventually they both die. 6. The God Wars continue. 7. Gielinor gets destroyed. 8. Mechscape is released.

00hydro
'manners maketh the man', is what you always told me. Well I guess we'll know when we say that in some quest ... anyone remember our avatar ever saying that? This is how it will go: 1. Lucien becomes a God. 2. New God Wars break out. 3. Well I guess we'll know when we say that in some quest ... anyone remember our avatar ever saying that? Lol I'm pretty sure that has been said before in a quest. I always thought the banter from the Balance Elemental was quotes and memories from the people that Lucien killed.

Erichermit
I too am greatly interested in that dialogue. I think it's either a past life as someone mentioned. Someone mentioned that you could be guthix, but your god part could be sleeping. I think that would be fascinating, haha. Or perhaps the guthix elemental knew your character in the future, but got sent back to kill you? Or maybe you knew the guthix elemental in the past, before we started "playing" him. It's important to consider that our character just appears. If we take the new (but currently disabled) tutorial thing as canon, it's worth noting that your character appears in a cellar with no idea how he got there and no memories but his name. This could postulate all kinds of theories of your character's past. If we take the tutorial island as canon, it's worth noting your character just appears as if from some other dimension. Unless we became the guardian of Jas by killing the Balance elemental. But the Elemental didn't die, he was simply weakened enough to be relieved of its duties: "And to protect the Stone until such a time as, near to death, whereby you are relieved of all duties and shall henceforth be returned to your home plane with the gratitude and blessings of Guthix." So the Elemental was brought my Guthix from the Alternate Gielinor to protect the stone of Jas. However, it was so weakened by combat and so "near to death" that the Elemental was relieved of its duty as protector and was able to return to its home plane, this Alternate Gielinor. This would leave the Chaos Elemental in this plane, and the Balance Elemental in its plane, perhaps regaining its strength (after all in the other plane you are dead, so who was there to weaken it?). ~It's Super Effective! Danqazmlp
Ever thought it may not be from a parralel plane, but the future instead? It says it knew you, and you had died, maybe even you created it (or will do in WGS2?) maybe you will fake your own death but the elemental will not know it, and then be sent to the past by guthix to meet you in the first one. snowball
The way I see it is that the Balance Elemental is like the Chaos elemental. The chaos elemental tells us about the future, so the balance elemental might be telling us about what already happened. Ok... Im not that good. But I have an anchor!!! hitman76
I didn't read everyones replies to this post, but i did read the post itself. First thing i remembered when reading this, was a suggestion i found in the Bugs/Suggestions forum a couple weeks/months ago. It was a suggestion to a sequel for WGS, and it suggested that YOU ARE guthix. I forget the authors name, but it was a very clever twist to the story, and this seems to kind of lean in that direction. Imagine that, you/me being guthix...the god of balance...think about it...it sounds plausible... myth busters ftw  [Thank you very much Skull_Emblem For the Beutiful Sig And Jopie for doing the Text]
