Fusionxx
I have been playing runescape for over 3 years now. My ultimate Goal like most peoples was to one day obtain a PartyHat. Now I have about 83M spare, by spare I mean I already have the weapons, armors and potions I need. I'm short on food but I love fishing so I just fish food when needed. Anyways the questions debating on if I should buy a Yellow PartyHat or not. I know they aren't stable anymore, But its something that I've always wanted for myself. However I'm also debating if I should just spend the cash on getting all my lower skills a lot higher and getting a killer total level. However I don't know if I will regret that once I do it. I'm just looking for suggestions on what you would do in my position... Thanks everyone for reading!
Merlin5611
If you want it badly, buy it, after you get bored with it sell it. On the other hand, i skilling, so i prefer skilling. Danqazmlp
I'm exactly the same as you (except 83m down) got all the items i need, now saving for a phat. Yellow is the only one id ever want (gold crown looking yes?). I'd buy it if i were you, then get the total levels by getting the primary items yourself. Want to be my friend? Look under my name to the left<<< and click the 'Add as friend' button!Big thanks to Stevepole for the signature!^

Fusionxx
Yea, Yellow Is my favorite for the same reason, It looks like a King's Crown. Anyways thanks for the feedback guys, and yes, I love skilling as well, Hunting being my favorite thing to do on the game ( no idea why) Anyways anymore suggestions are welcomed, I'm still uncertain which way I want to lean towards. SixFootOne
I was in the same position as you, i gave in and bought one and i don't regret it at all. With the party hat at least you will have a chance to sell it back if you don't like it. With skills there isn't much you can do. Also if you plan on skilling you might as well gather all the materials you need yourself, getting you lvls in both gathering and production skills. Keep in mind party hats have been dropping and most likely will continue so either wait until you find the price decent enough where you are willing to buy it, or be prepared to lose money on it. Atom Smash40
...i have about 83M spare...! That made my day  I wish I had 83Mill spare! :D try not to spam... getting back to the matter at hand, use it on skills. skills make money, so you wont be throwing anything away. of course, if u spend it on skills that dont make money, then thats ok too, as long as you have methods of making it back ~ 3,072nd to 99 Mining on August 30th, 2009 ~~ 112,084th to 99 Magic on April 16th, 2011 ~~ 131,681st to 99 Crafting on March 29, 2019 ~~ 178,385th to 99 Prayer on April 2, 2019 ~~ 234,921st to 99 Defence on May 9, 2019 ~~ 173,480th to 99 Herblore on June 21, 2019 ~~ 155,160th to 99 Smithing on July 16, 2019 ~
ilovecuttingyews
Most party hats are falling at an average of 5-10% per month. So in 1 month your 83M will look more like 75M. So if you are willing to pay 8M per month for a partyhat, then it's worth it. I personally have the cash for a partyhat just sitting in my bank collecting dust, but it's so shiney I couldn't give it up :D EDIT -> yellows have fallen 7.0% in the last 30 days. At that rate, in 30 days they will be 77.8M

I know they aren't stable anymore, But its something that I've always wanted for myself. Same deal here! Well, except that my cash isn't exactly spare. This is also pretty much the first time I've fallen into the range to be able to buy one... That said, if they suddenly rose one day and became complete anti-junk I'd probably kick myself for not taking the opportunity. Heh I think I'll get 80+ Prayer and Summoning and enough money to keep all essentials (RE: Fury, Whip, etc.) before I get one... I was about to post the same question but I used search. This is the first time it's ever been helpful to me!
Blingkachi50
Do what you enjoy, I've considered a phat many times but personally I'd rather a 99 in an expensive skill. [blingkachi50]
la la la
I was like you and always dreamed of a partyhat. I was bored of my yellow within a week and sold it (luckily) on the ge. I suggest not buying one.
SwreeTak
Those hats falls quite a lot and you will rather quickly lose rather many Ms on it. But they sure are beautiful items. I however recommend you to spend that massive amount of cash on skills instead. Add me if you so wish: SwreeTak
Bauke
I'm looking to buy a few phats aswell. Though with the crash course they're on, I prefer to wait a little longer. Maybe they'll be down 10m next month... Personally, I'm not in a hurry to get one. I'll just leave the cash in my bank. Troacctid
Well, there are certainly better things to get with that kind of money than a party hat. Spirit shields are much more functional, for example, and command pretty much the same respect, as they cost roughly the same as party hats. But other than that, there's still the godswords. Why not get a godsword set? Godswords are pretty cool, no? You can probably save some cash too by just buying the hilts after you get your first blade, since the hilts are interchangeable. Party hats seem like a waste to me, seeing as they don't do anything. There are so many other high-end items that are more worthwhile, and it isn't as if there's a shortage of nice hats to wear. I doubt that you would regret raising your skill levels. Skill levels will stay with your character forever. Character development is far more valuable in the end than a silly little Burger King crown. firanzo1
Depends how much you really want it. I wouldn't do it because there isn't much you can do with a phat. If it's always been your lifelong dream, go for it but remember the risk of a price drop or you dying with it.
gorgoroth
Before i got hacked about 4 or 5months ago i had about 170mil. To make it all worse i was F2P so i couldnt even buy cool armour or anything. Buying a Phat would have been the first obvious choice, yet it wasnt. I used about 20mil to raise some of my lower skills. I can tell you now that the only thing i regret is not using more money to raise my skills. Phats are useless. I would not buy one unless i had every skill at 99, the best armour(most expencive like 3rd age) and atleast 200mil. But the choice is yours. **Thanks to Boo_Boy666 for my amazing Singnature**[hide=Slaytanicc's Achievments]|99Cooking achieved 24Dec 2008|99Strength achieved 17Feb 2009|99Hit Points achieved 8April 2009||99Defense achieved 29May 2009|99Attack achieved 2August 2009|99Ranged achieved 14August 2009|[/hide][hide=Guides by Slaytanicc]Aviansie Maging + Ranging Guide (Must Read!!)Iron Mining + Banking GuideGreen Dragons GuideAnkou Slaying Guide[/hide]
