i'm sure everyone was once addicted to this game, and so i was too, not shamed to admit it, i remember so many first times, first set of iron armors, first time being killed (by a lv 20 bear i think), first time exploring a dungeon, first time being scammed (the usual "i'm jagex staff thing then the guy in the end kept on hacking me for 20 times before stopping) my first 10k, my first 100k, my first 1m, my first barrow item drop, my first gwd, first time reaching lv 100, first friend on the list (music doctor, probably quit around after a few weeks after i knew him) my best friend (zero9930, i still miss u justin=]) first time member, oh god i can keep this list going and going forever, it brings back so many memories, now that all my friends are gone, i feel really upset when i think about it, all those good friends from lvl 3, who met on tutorial island, who met first time when u were mining, or fishing for shrimps, it's really depressing, i used to play until midnight, or sometimes all day, and hang out with my friends, i wasn't very powerful, i was really poor who would go to varrock sewers to pick up coins from the floor (ya, i did that) but it was still fun nevertheless, i felt so alive playing that game, now i'm pretty high leveled, i'm reasonablly rich i just don't feel that joy of playing runescape anymore :( so i quit, and came back occasionally to check things out and looks at the place where i've been, i sometimes visit the places where i met my old friends but find them deserted now that RS players have dropped so much, it pains me to watch that same empty place, it was as if he was there a second ago, well that's my story, i just want to know if anybody is feeling the same way, if not, what keeps u going in this game? what's the thing that drives u forward and continue playing this game?

Right now my life's at a halt and I'm depressed like you wouldn't believe. The only reason I've put so much time into this game is because I'm out of school, I don't live with my family so they can't make me do anything productive, and I'm bored.

Also I have an absolute vendetta against WoW so I'll never play it.

Here is a new first for you.

The first time you used a period to end a sentence.

Before you start to cry like a girlguide with a freshly skinned knee ill let you know im the worst english student ever. I have failed grade 11 english 3 times and even i take the extra 3 seconds needed to write something legible.

I have a spell checker built into the web browser, after i finish a post i just make all the red squigly lines go away by correcting the spelling mistakes.

The way you compose a post is all we have to go on for an impression of you. There is no time limit on how long it takes you to put a post together. Why not get it right?

I have nothing but love for you because i suffer from the same problem. I know you can do better.

Now to add something to your topic.

I have an online MMORPG addiction, i have been playing online MMORPGs for the last decade. I need to be making progress in an online game to feel successful. I use to play everquest and i was a total pro. I remember how hardcore that game was, it was crazy. We (people in our guild) use to be on call 24 hours a day. We would have to wake up and slay a dragon needed for one part of the cleric epic quest at any time of day that it spawned. The cleric epic made raids 100% faster, and there was always about 4 guilds in the same zone on call to slay said dragon 24/7 and this particular dragon only spawned like once a week, but i digress.

Runescape is MMORPG lite, i can pop in anytime get some exp on a skill im working on and pop back out. I can make progress and feed my addiction and it dosent hurt my social life.

Also, i can play runescape on any computer that has a web browser, making it easy to feed my addiction. This game lets me satisfy a need that use to cost me so much without costing me anything.

And you are right, WoW is lame, i maxed out 3 chars in a few months. Lamesauce.

TLDR

Seemed like just another nostalgic story that I had no interest in.

OT: Ummm I'm guessing you're asking what keeps me playing. It's fun? Really why should there be any other answer?

honestly i dont know...i play about an hour a day just becase...ill probably play more once i get mems but other than that i just...play

Barrows:

Verac- Helm, Brassard x 2,

Torag- Body, Hammers

Karil- Crossbow

Guthan- Body

Ahrim- Hood, Staff

Still fun. If not this then something else. I play other games too. Aswell as other activities.

I always began as mostly a solo player anyway. Its just a game to entertain and challenge myself. I miss people who have quit but then again I miss many people from all areas of my life who I have lost contact with.

PVP keeps me going, seriously, the endless combinations you can use to kill players. At the moment there is only one thing that annoys me, people who whine in pvp worlds when they die.

Also, because this game is more "casual" than some other games ive played, not fullscreen, etc. I can play it while reading a book or watching tv.

O.O

Look at my signature;

I've been playing for so long that you might say I'm one of the "older players" and I just think to myself "I've been playing for so long...it can't be all for nothing."

I really would like to have 99 everything and a few rares someday :)

jakejdogg625.png

"been scaping since 05'...been noob since 92'" xD

long-term goal:getting a quest cape before 100 combat; aswell as buying a Santa Hat

The pleasure and sense of self accomplishment when I get a milestone level/a 99. Right now, 91 RC is keeping me motivated to keep on playing :) .

I think Tipit kept me going when I still played. Without fansites Runescape would be no where.

I'm gonna be walking down an alley in varrock, and walka is going to walk up to me in a trench coat and say "psst.. hey man, wanna buy some sara brew"

walka92- retired with 99 in attack, strength, defence, health, magic, ranged, prayer and herblore and 137 combat. some day i may return to claim 138 combat, but alas, that time has not yet come

Friends thats about it. It gets boring if you can't do stuff with friends and have fun doing it.

To get to my goals and prove you dont need a stupid amount of money to do it, that with enough endurance im just as good as any sod or higher level, and the friends i've made throught my time, sadly all my close friends have long retired but that doesnt stop me meeting new ones. ::'

Popoto.~<3

what kept me goin on is i simply just enjoy rs after work :P

Tip.it and SoDB. Without them, I would have quit RS a long long time ago.

Dropping level 120s instantly with specials that have a negiglible chance to destroy.

Especially the lol-irl feeling and everyone around the crimse scene going 'gf' 'ko' '!!!!!'

i just play when i get bored, the pvp system is abit naff on rs with all the clicking and lack of actual control, Plus to luck, but it is still quite fun when you have not done it in a while. Otherwise its a graphic filled chatroom.

I usualy find another game to play and complete then come back to rs when i get bored of it, has happened many times throughout my rs history.

GWD solo drops: Armadyl Hilt sold at 63.5m - (More to come hopefully)

Dropping level 120s instantly with specials that have a negiglible chance to destroy.

Lol

Anyway I would have to say... Tip.it

With all these awesome guides popping out of no where about unusual things makes me go on Runescape to try them out, and the community is great (Well, not as before but still). While looking on rate this and I see someone getting 99 slayer it makes me go do that horrible task and get me addicted to it. When I see 99 att it tells me that I can get it too (Only 1m to it).

What? Excuse me, but the amount of players haven't dropped AT ALL.

Friends and achieving goals.

You're all making me wanna join some sort of clan. :P Like boss hunting but don't get to go often. :(

I'm enjoying the game, that's what's keeping me playing. I don't know why MMOs seem to be in the negative light, Animal Crossing is more addictive than RS and is so boring. :wall: They're similar in a way though - without WiFi (player interaction) not many would play either game really.

imagangster.png

I always have a goal, and I hate losing. If I give up on a goal, I hate it, I cannot stand losing in things I know I can win. That's why I play Runescape. I have tonnes of fun when goals are complete, but the fact is, without a grind I have nothing to do. If I'm going to be bored, may as well be accomplishing something at the same time.
