Star.
viewtopic.php?f=45&t=787743 This topic is about best free antivirus programs. I'd say use Avira, AVG isn't really that good. ☢ CAUTION ☢ CAUTION ☢ CAUTION ☢ CAUTION ☢

Dracion1
AVG is one of the worse ones. Avira Antivir is the way to go if you want a good free one. "In the beginning, the universe was created. OldJoe
You must have clicked trial-pay link. http://download.cnet.com/Avira-AntiVir- ... d=11012914 Ah btw, you'll also need a firewall. Either go with your windows one, or download comodo or zonealarm. Nadril
AVG sucks, use Avira. And Avira does have a free version. As far as a firewall goes, I know people will probably kill me for saying this but personally I use the windows one. Of course if you're worried about security feel free to download something better. Sam
Avast seems to work great, and does constant blanket monitoring over your whole system, so it can tell if a virus is concealed in a download link. home version which you can register for free is available for downlaod here: http://avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html 2257AD.TUMBLR.COM
acenator
Don't really like it, i am using this AV. http://personalfirewall.comodo.com/down ... ewall.html That's a Firewall, not an AV. It's actually both, but you can disable either feature. Personally, I use the Comodo firewall with Avira antivirus (I had AVG for my AV, but then I started having problems with the updates and, after looking at the other AV thread, downloaded Avira). > SELECT * FROM users WHERE clue > 0;0 rows returnedThere's no place like 127.0.0.1There are only 10 types of peoplein this world: those who understandbinary and those who don't.This statement is false.$DO || ! $DO ; trytry: command not found

Dracion1
Avira has for a while been constantly higher than AVG on www.av-comparatives.org, an independent site which compares multiple AV software. Also, from personal experience, I found that Avira has picked up a lot of stuff that AVG hasn't and is generally faster for scans. Also I remember AVG didn't have rootkit protection, but they've probably added that in to the newer version. "In the beginning, the universe was created. Dracion1
My point exactly. It's included in the free version of AVIRA and checks for them when you do a system scan.
