Good, less crowded, more kills for me.

Don't you know the first rule of MMO's? Anyone higher level than you has no life, and anyone lower than you is a noob.

People in OT eat glass when they are bored.

This is always the way it is with a new item which is dropped by monsters, to my knowledge. In order to get that item into the game, and to lower the price, they are common/semi common at first. Later, that drop rate is reduced. So it is quite possible that it was "nerfed".

I do not think so. Why would Andrew and the rest of Jagex go out of their way to alter the drop rate of a rare item?

I am not complaining though, I have 10 of them in bank. Besides, Bandos Throne Room gives enough items to make money off of. :s

Magic Shortbow, Dark Bow, Barrelchest Anchor etc. Simple reason, to resist easy-obtained items that either are too powered to their liking or too easy to obtain. I personally wouldn't be surpised if they've been nerfed.

Dark Bows got nerfed? I never really realized that. It feels like a pretty common drop for me.

I used to get 8 drops (At least) per trip. I ended up gettin 73 as drops. However, recently, the drop rate did seem to just die and now I get 2 or 3 a trip... I think they messed around with it.

It wasn't a "rare item", at the original drop rate. They were dropped so frequently they couldn't be considered one. My guess would be that the above speculation was right, and that they simply lowered it after the first few days so that they wouldn't be too common, after being introduced into the economy easily.

The drop rates are always high for the first week to get the item into the market then they lower them. It happens with everything why even bother making these threads :|

In order to find out if Jagex has "nerfed" the drop rate, you must first determine whether the fewer drops are due to chance variation.

A while ago, I wrote an "article" on how to do hypothesis testing: http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/User:Ix ... s_rarer.3F

Maybe you guys will find it useful.

It's a bit surprising that they've done this with the granite mace seeing how totally useless this item is as a weapon. I can understand why they would do this with dragon items and other rare drops, but this was never a desirable item to begin with.

It has been a week since the quest (I think), so its about time the rate got lowered. Jagex always does this. At first the drop rate needs to be high because the item needs to get into circulation ASAP. Once you ahve a few thousand in the game, you lower the rate to a normal one. There in circulation, the drop rate needs to be lowered or the price will go down so low we'll need a mining expidition to find it.
