Misterknowitall
jagex has been milking the game for more than it's worth these past few months with useless updates and things like this new client. with the staff they have and resources now they could easily be pumping out 2 USEFUL updates a week, instead they wait 2 months and give us a new desktop image for "their" client... YEA, because we all know there hasn't been an update in two months. Silly Jagex, not updating for two..Oh wait. :wall: ITQ: Someone who should have a clue, doesn't. Yea, two useful updates a week. Because this week is over on Monday and that was our only update. hurf durf. clearly you simply wanted to flame for no reason whatsoever. i was giving an exaggerated example on purpose. the meaning is in there, you just need to be smarter than the average bear to understand it... Exaggeration and sarcasm in text = undetectable unless you make it obvious. The only thing separating your post and that of a whiny kid is that you said it was sarcasm after being called out on it. Thanks for playing the internet, please deposit an extra quarter. =D> I'd like a try please. To SuperSayin16: You need to be smarter than the average broken broomstick to know that you do not use exaggerated examples in a meaningless case like this. Racheya
If it's still built off of IE and not Chrome, it's not worth using. Whats wrong with IE? What is RIGHT with it? I'll stick to Firefox tyvm. I don't see how it would be a security risk only using it for the RuneScape page. It's not like you're downloading torrents on there, correct? I do think that when playing Runescape security isn't your first real worry, but I find Firefox to be far quicker and Internet Explorer shuts down my internet every few hours so it sucks for me. Bauke
People expected a chrome or firefox client BEFORE an IE one? Are you serious? Just because it's "cool" to go with one of the secondaries doesn't mean it makes business sense to skip the primarily accepted web browser. FWIW, I use IE over Firefox because Firefox is incredibly glitchy, faults on startup all the time, and just has generally gone downhill quickly over the last 6-12 months. I think that's pretty much your problem tbh. And IE sucks, especially the version Jagex uses. MS has a general disrespect for the web standards. Nobody should be using IE. I don't think anyone EXPECTED a different client, they would have PREFERRED one. And Firefox may not work well for you, but it's great for me. I don't think I'm "cool" because I use it, I use it because it performs much better, has better security and speed, and has different add-ons to customize it. As for the the client itself, I haven't used it before, and don't plan on it.

So we come full circle to the original point: Boo hoo, woe is you, no good updates for the past two months. Get over it, you're not the only one playing this game. hope everyone is enjoying the year without good updates, 8 more months of this. I hope they keep going, looking forward to 8 more months. Ervis
The update is....hell I can't find a difference in the client at all. I'll stick to my Firefox, it runs Runescape smoothly. Plus, if they really wanted to help "low end machines", the ad's above the Runescape game-screen doesn't help for F2P players such as me. Then again, there's always the rule breaking way of Ad-Block Plus >_>. I also agree with some of the points mentioned in the topic (I skimmed through the posts though so I apologize). JaGeX has been milking the game with updates that aren't exactly significant lately. Their main focus of the year seems to be fixing current game playability to make the game more enjoyable and less frustrating but in my opinion, that can be implemented as side updates which they have always done. They're using this as an excuse to not bring out major game content too often (for whatever reason). Anyways this is just my point of view, feel free to argue but I won't change my mind unless you bring really good points.

Maybe you don't know this yet, but there has been an IE-based client for RS for a few years now, which (in my opinion) is almost exactly the same as this one. I really don't see how Jagex can announce this as a big update to their new client, as the only thing that's changed is the horizontal scroll bar, lol.. sees_all1
You know everyone, I noticed a difference. I believe they developed this update for me. When I run firefox, I've got the stumble toolbar, the ChaCha guide toolbar, and I always show tabs even if there's only one. This takes up a large bar in my screen, and it allows me to play the game without viewing the advertisement. That's right - I can't see the advertisement when I play on firefox. Firefox is notorious for having memory leaks, when my computer bogs down its either 1 of 2 reasons. The first is McAfee decided to start running. The second is Firefox decided to leave its memory cage and is now taking up 200-300 MB of ram (my computer's old... it only has half a gig total). With this update, hopefully it'll do three things for me: 1. Never take up more than 100 MB of ram while running. 2. Never change keyboard focus when the adverts switch. 3. Let me play RS on HD even though my computer probably wouldn't handle it anyway. But, I'll test all that out later this week. chris924
Where is the one for Linux users? I just use ff on my linux machine (old computer) and RS works OK but I would like it to work "great", not just "OK"! I tried the "new" client on my Windows computer and see no difference but it is a much better computer than my Linux one.
