April 13, 200917 yr I guess I'll be the first to say that RSE was my favorite of the Pokemon generations. It was the first that offered double type starters so it made you think harder of what you want to choose. It was the first to introduce running shoes so getting from place to place didn't take a year without a bike. It also had contests. RSE was just a huge improvement from RBY and GSC to me. :anxious: I thought the starter was a matter of... "[bleep] it, which one is the fire type?" Denizen of Darkness| PSN= sworddude198

April 13, 200917 yr I've only really played the originals so I can't really have much of say here. I do think that some people just look back at the old ones as the best though because they were their first, not necesarily because it had the best mechanics behind it. Of course as evident by trying to read through the 1st page of this thread I have no [bleep]ing clue about pokemon balance (and I didn't care when I played the originals).

Honestly, you can find plenty of grass types, and they all end up doing alright. Water is even easier, even the useless Magikarp turns powerful when it evolves. Denizen of Darkness| PSN= sworddude198
April 13, 200917 yr I find GSC the best as you go through 16 gym leaders(?), fight ash too. I love how it blends with RBY. as you fite Ash(I said it already I know). Gary, and all the old gym leaders(well most). Along with the nice addition of time of day/nite and days of the week. I think its cool. Don't you know the first rule of MMO's? Anyone higher level than you has no life, and anyone lower than you is a noob. People in OT eat glass when they are bored.

April 13, 200917 yr Guys guys guys. With the DSi Shop, comes a whole new possibility for pokemon. My idea of an awesome Pokemon game would be called Pokemon World, or something of the sort. It would have 2 different games in it, like Pokemon World Black or White. You'd start in Kanto and make your way up to Sinnoh. The level limit would raise to... 200 I guess. It would have the Day/night feature, and Pretty much all pokemon. The DSi Shop could introduce a few addons, like possible special areas. For a starter, you could choose a pokemon of any type, but each type would have a specific pokemon. Say... if you chose psychic, you'd get a Ralts, or something. Possibly a new starter pokemon for any type. [cabbage] would be so cash. In fact, a possible $70 cash. Oh yeah, and I've thought of taking babies and throwing them. For funsies. - Lenticular J"Isn't it pathetic how everything in our society is built around someone screwing someone else out of their money?" - killerbeer0 on American SocietyRebdragon can't wiz a woz.

And fire was really the worst choice to make, because for the first 2 gym leaders fire was weak. Grass was always the best early choice against the first 2, rock and water. Fire didn't really pay off until the 6th, I think, that grass one. Water was good for the first, rock, ok for water, but #3 was electric, so you had to have good pokemon by then. Also I know hope isn't lost for my team, not just because Kabutops is rock/water but also because my other stuff is still strong period. :D Command the Murderous Chalices! Correct? Denizen of Darkness| PSN= sworddude198

April 14, 200917 yr The first Gym in GSC was Flying. Then it was Grass. That put Grass and Water at a disadvantage. Making Fire the most viable choice. FOr the first 3 gyms, it went Flying, Grass, Normal. Grass is weak to Flying, Water is weak to Grass. None are weak to Normal. Finally, Grass is weak to Fire. Now, who would you say is the most viable choice? If you concentrate on starters. Denizen of Darkness| PSN= sworddude198
April 14, 200917 yr Also, fire pokemon are harder to get ingame, so picking one as your starter makes your team that much better later on for type coverage. Forum Updates & Suggestions <------ Let your voice be heard!Forum Games <------- Coolest place on Tip.ItTip.It Forum Rules <------- Read them!
April 14, 200917 yr For GSC I usually held out until you could get Growlithe/Vulipx  RSE sucked for fire types though. Torkoal and Slugma early on, Vulpix later. Also, the second gym in GSC was Bug. Bug beats pretty much just Psychic and Grass. Chikorita then really didn't get a break until... Misty or Brock  I painted some stuff and put it on tumblr
April 14, 200917 yr Also, fire pokemon are harder to get ingame, so picking one as your starter makes your team that much better later on for type coverage. Actually, in every game other than D/P fire types were easy to get, but not until a certain part in the game - fire types are kinda the equalizer in the starters, (equal attacking stats) and the only pokemon that can actually cover the fire type for a while, but they still dont have to be loved by everyone o.O Torkoal was a great fire type pokemon =D Chikorita as a starter was a very technical pokemon, it learns the powders basically when it turns into bayleef. Feraligatr was just outright attacking, and typhlosion was too. @Sword, early game is too easy to even care about pokemons types. When you get to around the 4th or 5th badge, then yeah its probably more suitable to. Btw, doesnt anyone think GSC was a very quick storyline? I mean, the 7th gym leaders best pokemon was like, level 34? I dont need a siggy no moar.
April 14, 200917 yr I got a Firered and I liked it, although I was uhhhh 9 back then. NOSTALGIA. I beat the game within a week of buying... Too slow. But meh. Fake stuff, got deleted withing 6 months. I got a 80 ish Salamence, 82 Metagross (compliments of my unknowing cousin :P) 99 Charizard >.< 70ish Nidoking and a 70ish Tyrranitar (sp?). Ah well. Firered was like a blast to the past with elements of the future. Not that bad.
April 14, 200917 yr I still have my original copies of Blue and Silver, my two favorite Pokemon games that I've owned and I don't even own an Nintendo handheld to play them on anymore..

I mean, the 7th gym leaders best pokemon was like, level 34? But out of the 3 basic types, fire is the least abundant. I usually go for fire in the beginning as well. I mean, you can catch water pokemon basically everywhere and you are loaded with grass types near the middle of the game as well. For example in RBY, you have no problem getting waters (Tentacool, Staryu, Goldeen, Horsea, Magikarp, Seel, Shellder, Poliwag, Krabby, Lapras, and the fossils), grass pokemon are a bit harder to come by than water, but you still get a whole bunch (Bellsprout, Oddish, Paras, Tangela, Execute). But for fire, there are very few comparatively (Vulpix, Growlithe, Ponyta, Magmar) and they all tend to come later in the game. GSC seemed to go pretty quick, but you get 2 worlds to explore so I can't complain. ~It's Super Effective! April 14, 200917 yr I thought that the Victory Road in RBY was the best. All the others seemed sort of... not challenging, I guess. More of a straight walk, rather than the sliding rock puzzle. April 14, 200917 yr Author I love the 2nd generation. It's when I first got into Pokemon. My first Pokemon game was the Crystal one I got bundled with my Gameboy Color. It was awesome, I felt awesome everytime my pokemon evolved. Later, I traded crystal for gold. It's been a few years, and now the internal battery of my Gold version died, and my game keeps erasing. 2nd gen games released a time counting feature, and had an internal battery used to keep the time going, and these days it's nearly impossible to find a 2nd gen game that actually saves. Trust me guys, go try your old GSC. Your file is GONE. P.S: I love my Alakazam :) Btw there is a way to replace the internal battery but apparently you need soldering skills and risk destroying your game: http://www.pokemasters.net/forums/showt ... hp?t=15464 ~It's Super Effective! April 14, 200917 yr I think pokemon games as we know them should stop. No more hand held games where you have to go out and buy a new cartridge each time Nintendo feels they need a new plot/continent and pokemon. MMO is the way to go I think, and this way thy can add new stuff. Heh, its wishful thinking, but if they were to release a new one, it should therefore be on PC, PS3 or 360, if they do not go for the MMO idea. This way, they can add the new content by patching it into the game. You also forgot that the DSi "could" have potential for patching as well. Seriously idc if I have to pay for the new content, as long as I don't have to pay the $35 for something highly similar to the previous (for example D/P and Platinum). I find GSC the best as you go through 16 gym leaders(?), fight ash too. I love how it blends with RBY. If the updating idea above is possible, oh yea, I would have second thoughts of buying it (DSi). you like pudding....me too[hide=More Friend Codes coming soon -.- (some are now included cmon pm me
