April 24, 200917 yr We're just here, like a 6th toe. No purpose, but no real reason to get rid of it. - touching and concise pragmatism. Where do you come up with these things ? All natural, my good sir. All natural. Command the Murderous Chalices! Drink ye harpooners! drink and swear, ye men that man the deathful whaleboat's bow- Death to Moby Dick!BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE!
April 25, 200917 yr In my opinion, there is no purpose to life. The way I see it, I'm here and I choose to live. That's really all there is to it. Forget all this "life is to find happiness" bs. It sounds nice, but its just arbitrary. So far I have seen no evidence of any sort of "higher truth" or some other vague phrase, but I have an open mind. I can't really justify not blowing my brains out, because after all nothing really means anything, I just simply choose not to. I prefer to live. Hey.
April 26, 200917 yr Well, of course the happiness stuff is arbitary. It's just a rational, independant, objective judge of human action, and without any higher purpose or truth, it's the only way to judge anything. The fact is that everything we do is to seek happiness, not because of any higher truth, but because we can't do anything else. You may not realise it, but whatever you do in life you do because it makes you happy--even if indirectly, i.e. believing certain actions will get you eternal life or are just "right". If absolute power corrupts absolutely, where does that leave God?

All you're basically saying is that simply because we help others, even if we do it for selfish reasons, that doesn't matter because we're helping others. Or, we are never truly capable of selflessness, and as a species we will forever be plagued by selfishness, at the core of every aspect of our reasoning and of our morality. Anyone can spin it to sound positive or negative. This still doesn't demonstrate how happiness is the "point" to life. Hey.
April 26, 200917 yr When 'selfishness' includes acts done to help others in order to feel good, it ceases to have negative connotations. In fact, if I was to state with certainty that my acts of selfishness are helping others, I'd be quite proud. It'd mean I'm hardwired to help other people. Edit: Deja vu. Have I said this before? But I don't want to go among mad people!Oh, you can't help that. We're all mad here..."
April 26, 200917 yr Happiness isn't the point of life, but it is the thing we're all geared towards seeking which can be described as the next best thing. I never liked that answer though. Wouldn't that mean eating is also the point of life?
April 27, 200917 yr Everyone has the God-given right to choose what to do in life, in other words, free will. (Doesn't mean that you should go on a killing spree just because you can, though.)
April 27, 200917 yr Fair enough, doesn't mean you can't create your own purpose though :) The only people who tell you that you can't do something are those who have already given up on their own dreams so feel the need to discourage yours.
April 27, 200917 yr I think everything alive knows it is alive and wants to live and therefore choosing that as their first priority in life. We have done this by erecting societies to protect us from us and mostly eachother. This also means that people and animals alike want to adapt to this society and be accepted in it which is another thing to keep you busy. I don't think anyone on this whole world wakes up every day with 1 goal in mind like 'herding the earth' or whatever. We just do what we need to survive and overcome the obstacles thrown at us each day. Life is life. Click here for my blog.

That's about as close to a point as there can possibly be. If absolute power corrupts absolutely, where does that leave God?
April 28, 200917 yr life has no set purpose. except people may make their purpose themselves, for something like...have fun, do this, do that...but life itself never was created to have meaning I'm gonna be walking down an alley in varrock, and walka is going to walk up to me in a trench coat and say "psst.. hey man, wanna buy some sara brew"walka92- retired with 99 in attack, strength, defence, health, magic, ranged, prayer and herblore and 137 combat. some day i may return to claim 138 combat, but alas, that time has not yet come
April 28, 200917 yr I'm gonna laugh when this is all just some game where our goal was to figure out the big question, and once we did we'd win. What would we win though, you ask? I'd assume it would have to be a meteor shower that spells out "CONGRATULATIONS!" right before it comes crashing into earth killing us all. :P May the presents of our lord and savior, Santa, be with you this holiday season!First annual Clausmas - 2009 December 25

May 30, 200917 yr Happiness isn't the point of life, but it is the thing we're all geared towards seeking which can be described as the next best thing. I never liked that answer though. Wouldn't that mean eating is also the point of life? The thing is, there's no "point" to life so we might as well be the most happiest we can while alive. "The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is."
May 30, 200917 yr The point of life is to ask yourself why you are wasting time thinking of something which isn't really unanimous. AKA: Life is what you make of it. By our instinctual mind, our purpose is the continuity of mankind.
